We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Runaway bay. The accommodations were spacious and clean. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. I would recommend the Bayview Bay Apartments to everyone.

As regular travellers around Australia, we often check trip adviser for future places to stay, but when we read thiscrap review about Bayview Bay Apartments we felt compelled to write our comments regarding the above mentioned resort.
Reboi, where are you coming from?, we stayed at Bayview Bay Apartments from 2.02.09 - 6.02.09 and came across nothing like you are expressing.
On our arrival we were greeted at reception by Rebecca, welcoming and approachable. After checking in and receiving the keys to our apartment, we were the escorted to such [by a very pleasant man, Matt ] a custom that is not applied much theses days and very much appreciated.
On entering our apartment, we found it to be well presented and VERY clean.
The resort itself was quiet and family orientated with very pleasant surroundings, well maintained gardens and pool and a marina.
We stayed four days and found management very approachable and helpful, assisting us with bookings for activities.
The Managers, Rebecca and Matt even enjoyed a BBQ with us on two occassions, along with other guests.
We found Bayview Bay Apartments great value and would recommend it to anybody and also plan to return later in the year.
We have read other reviews fromyou Reboi, about places you have stayed and it seems you would not be happy even in Versarce.
Keep up the great work at Bayview Bay
From happy travellers

Before going to Bayview Waters we asked for a quiet room. Bayview Waters replied as follows.
On 2017-07-16, Bayview Waters Apartments wrote

"....Hi, we place you in a room at the far end of the complex away from all traffic noise. Although this complex is very quiet as it is. The far end has a better view also. Cheers Janette (Manager) ..."
THE REALITY.
I think we had the noisiest room in the complex.
As we did not discover this until the first evening, long after office/booking hours, there was not much we could do except put up with the circumstances.
( office closed at 4 PM).
Their comment on our complaint to them was as follows
"....We had a previous guest extend their stay and consequently the room we had originally allocated to you was no longer available. We did not have any other rooms available on the days of your stay. The complex is very quiet most of the time in any of our holiday units....Our booking policy states “Whilst every endeavour is made by management to fulfil guest's requests for specific units, we cannot guarantee their availability. “
I understand the Bayview Waters reply to mean in plain englis "We knew that you were not getting the room we promised but we had given it to someone else and we could not be bothered to alert you to the change so you are stiff..."

We stayed in room 36 for 6 nights during the Christmas period. The room was rundown, it was dirty, the furniture was tired looking, the single beds were uncomfortable and felt unstable, the carpet was marked. There are BBQ facilities but no utensils are provided or plastic bowls etc that you would expect. It needs new carpet, fresh paint and updated furniture. The intercom phone was filthy. The garden area was quite nice but the pool could have been cleaned more regularly given the amount of people who were staying there. I had relatives staying in other apartments who were equally disappointed. For the hefty money we paid during the Xmas period it was a complete rip-off. Spend your money elsewhere.

I booked this accomodation through Wotif at a good rate. A last minute decision to go for a weekend (We used to live in this area) to catch up with friends.
I called the "resort" the day before and was assured that an early arrival was OK as our unit was ready. Great stuff!
Checked in and given the keys no problem. Then we got to the unit...the furniture all stacked up on the dining table and kitchen bench and the the beds. I called reception thinking there had been a mistake and was told that the carpets had just been cleaned and that the cleaners were supposed to have put the furniture back. (This statement is critical! NOTHING was ever the managements fault!)
Quick cup of coffee, we always take our own cups, noticed the greasy, mismatched crockery and cutlery, glad we did! Then off out.
On our return that night around 8pm on Saturday I started to look around the apartment.
The sliding glass doors to the balcony didn't lock, the screen doors locked after a good fiddle with the key.
The dining chairs wre disgusting, the material badly stained with God knows what.
The vinyl lounge suite which we were informed was new was certainly not purchased for it's comfort.
The bedroom lights didn't work but in all fairness the bedside lamps did so made do with that.
Thhe ensuite bathroom shower was filthy, the glass cloudy and stained, the floor tiles with copious amounts of soap scum....very nice. The laminate peeling off on the vanity.
A blanket which was neatly folded in the 2nd bedroom was so filthy I threw it in the corner of the room wher it stayed until we left. It was disgusting!
The roughcast ceilings in the bedrooms were HANGING with dust and cobwebs. I really don't know what the other stains were.
The bedroom cutains the same hanging with dust and dirt. Missing hooks and fittings affected ALL the apartment curtains.
The oven and stovetop were certainly not going to be used by us given their filthy condition. The oven trays covered with soild/used Alfoil....boy this place is a gem!
To their credit someone had actually managed to drag an old timber outdoor setting up the stairs and place it on the front balcony, the slatted wood type that food falls into the gaps and never seems to get cleaned out...lovely.
Please keep in mind these are LUXURY APARTMENTS...proudly billed as such on their website.
We checked out a day early informing the manager, Rebecca of our reasons. She very kindly informed us that we should have complained. She also since has told me that after hours mobile numbers are posted around the "resort."
I requested a refund from Rebecca, she informed me that I had offended her and it was all my fault anyway for not contacting them on their day off (Sunday.)
BUT....she tells me she has issued a warning letter to the cleaning staff (who are available 24hrs accoding to her...go figure!)
She also passed on my complaint to the units owner who she assures me is most proactive in the condition of his unit.....Ripley coundn't have written better!
My request for a refund has been denied because evrything was my fault, or the cleaners fault, or someone elses fault and in any case I didn't complain in time???????

My advice to anyone wishing to stay in Runaway Bay.....Don't even consider this disgusting, mis-managed property
PS...if you want to see the photo's I took contact me.

If you are looking for something cheap, not caring about cleanliness, then Apartment 48 is the place for you. My mother, who visited, was horrified at the condition. I justified it to her by explaining that it was spacious, cheap and I don't mind old. Although it was NOT easy for us two women and two little kids to haul all the suitcases up the three floors. Up and down each day was kinda fun and good exercise, but sometimes dangerous as the lights would flip off mid staircase. Not good for my kids or ageing mum!
Mentioned the cleanliness to Rebecca, who explained that it was due for a "spring clean", however, this needed more than a spring clean. The cleaners did come in to do a surface quicky of the things I mentioned, but there was just too much in the end. Open a drawer and it was full of dirty dishes/cutlery, IN a dirty drawer. Dripped food on the edges. The cloth sofas and dining chairs were sticky with food, chunks of chocolate etc. Rebecca did give us some sheets to throw over them all. Washing machine, dryer very basic and dirty again.
The showers were a real problem for us. One shower, we couldn't pull the lever to switch to shower mode. Both shower nozzles were so cheap and tacky that they'd just locked into place, meaning we couldn't adjust for the kids to use. I couldn't adjust the pressure, which resulted in the rose flipping up to the ceiling. I pretty much got soaked, all over, whenever ANYONE tried to have a shower. Maintenance did come in and attached a crude thing for the kids to pull the lever out, however, I asked if they could fix, or adjust the other shower, as the kids couldn't use that shower, even with the lever.
None of the curtains seemed to block out the morning sun. Either couldn't close, or missing strips. Views would have been nice to experience, but after managing how to open and close, didn't want to step out into the dirty balcony. The windows, glass doors look like they've never been cleaned. Wiped out the fridge myself before putting anything in.
Felt that the whole set up there was about "money". The original unit I was booked in had wifi, but when I mentioned the newly located one didn't, they tried to "sell" me a deal, which turned out to be hooking into the neighbour's wifi. Changing was my fault BTW. My flight was cancelled and rebooked to the next day. Did kindly lend me some adapters.
The good thing about the whole stay was the pool and jacuzzi. Heated nicely for a relaxing dip before we tackled the black out stairs back to our third floor.
When we returned to Runaway Bay two week later, after travelling down to Vic and back, we booked into apartments down the road. For only $70 more a night, it was a HUGE difference. See my review on Broadwater Shores.

We stayed in Nbr.34. My wife and I travelled with my son, daughter in law and 11yr old grandson, the Apartment was clean and suited our needs perfectly. It's in a good location away from the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise and close to the Runaway Bay shopping centre.
Rebecca and Mat went out their way to make our stay most memorable. Arranging tours, Rent a car and any assistance.
Without a doubt, in all our travels, the Bayview Bay Apartments is one of the best places for a holiday

We spent five nights here recently and didn't enjoy it at all. Our room wasn't clean (hair in the bed, empty water bottles under the bed and a cigarette butt in the jar on the balcony) when we arrived and the building's common stairwell smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The room we had (facing the street) was very noisy with the rubbish skips and a leaf blower waking us up early each day. There were two positive aspects of our stay and they were the apartments' location and the very helpful, friendly lady at reception. We will not be returning.

We booked two of these apartments for 7 night's from 13 August. On arrival we were allocated apartment number 2 & 10. It appears that some of the apartments are private homes and judging by their balconies and garden areas they are probably very nice. On the positive side, they are spacious, excellent parking garage and nice compact communal pool and BBQ areas. We booked these because we had business to attend to in the area and anticipate requiring accommodation on a regular basis in the future. Unfortunately I would not use them again.

Being polite, the apartments were grubby and very basic. We didn't expect much as they are very inexpensive, but there is no excuse for bad maintenance and cleanliness. Walking on the tiled floor bear foot resulted in dirty feet!

The washing machine was useless and leaked water all over the floor. On day two of seven, I asked the reception to look at it, I was told it would be fixed after we checked out. When I challenged this, I was told it would be repaired after the weekend. This never happened.

I would be interested to know if the washer in number 2 is still useless as the manager really didn't care.

I am a Travel agent with many years experience and totally understand that this is a budget property, but no excuse for cleanliness or bad maintenance. Book with caution, I wouldn't book my clients here!!
