We stayed for 1 night as we were passing through but we wished we had stayed longer! Our room was so lovely - very lavish and extremely clean and well stocked with all kitchen equipment and bathroom supplies. We had a two bedroom apartment which was so spacious. Our kids loved their bedroom and were excited to see the 3 tvs! The bathroom was roomy and we felt spoilt by the large shower with rainfall shower head.
The onsite restaurant was a lifesaver as we were tired and the weather was storming - so being so close was a great benefit. Overall our experience was lovely. We would definitely return and stay again. It’s not walking distance to shops but it is only a brief 2 min drive to coles and restaurants / cafes / main streets.

While the motel car park was very busy the room was extremely quiet and dark allowing us a much needed sleep in. Hotel staff were very accommodating. Convenient location close to town with a well furnished room. Consider taking own plates and cutlery to make use of toaster in room.

As part of a weekend getaway on our motorcycles, I booked a room with 2 bedrooms for my mate & I at this hotel. What I didn't realise was that I had booked the "Boardroom" - which in addition to the 2 bedrooms, also has a massive conference table in the middle of the living area! As it turned out this was very useful for spreading all our clothes & belongings out on as everything had gotten soaked due to having ridden for hours in pouring rain. The complimentary laundry facilities (specifically the dryer) were also very useful, as was being able to crank up the air-con to a nice warm temperature to help everything dry out overnight.

Dinner in the restaurant was excellent & the whole stay was comfortable & enjoyable.

We had a meal at your restaurant on Friday night 23rd august to celebrate my daughters graduation from university.

The night was a complete disaster! the waitress who took our drink order was shocking - she was dressed terribly, he hair was messy and she just didn't care - we ordered a bottle of wine - she brought one back stating they didn't have what we ordered, but this is the same - it was nothing the same and tasted terrible - it took me a long time to get anyone attention to ask for another as it was horrible.

the meals! yuck! I was told what a great restaurant this was and I was horribly disappointed - I had the fish of the day - salmon - what I cook at home tastes better.
not to mention a lovely young waitress brought us out some bread, we said we didn't order any, she went back to the kitchen, only to return saying it was from the kitchen as they were running late - we waited ages for our meals.

Upon looking around the restaurant - everyone appeared to be having the same problem.

I will never return and will most certainly be letting others know

The Rydges/Powerhouse in Armidale is a nice motel in a great location (within walking distance to most things that you will need in Armidale). I am more than happy to pay money for a luxury experience, but for the price that the Rydges is asking, I just don't see the value. The beds were comfy, but the rooms were very average. Very clean, but that's about it. The heavy dark timber furniture made it feel like I was staying somewhere in the USA and just didn't match the exterior of the motel (as the exterior is quite modern). The staff at reception were very professional at all times though. My experience at the Rydges wasn't terrible, I just think that there are better options in Armidale.

Poor experience for several reasons.
I had difficulty booking as the phone would not ring/connect, I am with Vodaphone and I could ring other businesses in Armidale so it's not my phone or carrier, so I booked online. The lady manager/owner belittled me for not booking in by phone as it always costs more. This happened after explaining that I could not ring. When booking a second night at the front desk we got charged the same as the first night which made it seem that the manager/owner was lying about a cheaper rate when not booking online. On the second day we were locked out of our room and had to visit the front desk to reset the key.

Dear Brad We apologize that you felt this way, certainly was not our intention. An explanation as to why we cannot make any changes to an existing booking through an external booker was given and it was just advised that it is always best to try and book direct so any amendments to a booking are easier for our guests. Our rates change daily, and we do provide the cheapest rate possible when booking direct. Again, we apologize for any misunderstanding that has occurred and we do hope to see you again when you are next in Armidale.

We choose Rydges for its reputation.
We were greeted politely and professionally.
The room (149) was what we had booked, and expected.
Parking was not a challenge but as we were advised there was no reserved parking, so this meant anyone could park anywhere. So not directly outside your allocated room.
We choose not to eat dinner in the restaurant as the selections weren't to our choosing, and pricing reminded us of Sydney Harbour Restaurants.
We did have breakfast, and found the pricing as expected a little more then Coffee Club. The big breakfast was big, however I would have loved if they included coffee.
The second morning, we selected the Continental Breakfast, usually a choice of cereal, pastry, toast, fruit, yogurt, coffee & Juice. Now due to covid (I'm assuming) the buffet was not operating, and we have to inform the wait staff what we wanted. We were not asked what type of cereal, we were given bran.
We were not asked what sort of bread we required for toast, which arrived cold. Our wait for just cereal and toast, seemed incredibly long.
I feel that there was a staffing issue, as I saw only one person, who greeted us at the door and was serving. I assume that there was a cook.As the hot breaksfast came out a lot quicker then ours.
On reading the information on the Hotel it said that rooms were made up etc before 12. Our room was made up well and truely after 3pm.
Although on checking in we were asked if we wanted a $10 Eco credit, which could be used in the Restaurant or bar during our stay. We refused the eco offer.
The rest of our stay was what was expected.

We are so glad you enjoyed many aspects of your stay with us and although I do wish you had a better experience in some areas of the hotel, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. I can assure you that we have addressed all your feedback with our management team. Our team would like to thank you for your kind words. We would also like to apologise for your sub par experience at Breakfast and for the lateness of your Housekeeping makeover and hope that at your next stay with us we are able to rectify these issues and give you the great Rydges Service we are known for.

Rydges promotes themselves as being the best in Armidale but unfortunately they fall short. The rooms are dated, lack technical specs that you would expect these days, like power points with usb charging. No tissues provided even though it's supposed to be upmarket. The restaurant is second rate as a lot of the food is frozen and then just heated up. For beakfast the crumpets were as hard as a brick and the croiassants were thawed out.

Dear John Thank you for your review. Sorry we fell short on your expectations on this stay. Tissues are provided in rooms in the vanity cupboard, I apologize if these were missed by the housekeeping team. We are endeavoring to implement some changes in our rooms moving forward including your suggestion on the PowerPoints. The pastries and croissants are freshly baked each morning and not sure why you had the feeling that they are just heated up. We hope to see you again on your next visit and can notice the changes taking place within our hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at Rydges Armidale. The room and facilities were well provided for. I would recommend that housekeeping staff check the state of the linen on the rooms providing a sofa bed. We needed to use the sofa bed and discovered it had not been freshly made up. To expect guests to let you know or leave the sofa bed opened out ( which means you cannot use the lounge) is nut a reliable solution.
Otherwise we enjoyed our stay very much.

We were very disappointed with the 2 bedroom family suite at the Powerhouse in Armidale. We thought paying extra would be worth it but the rooms were so dark and smelly and a lot smaller than the pictures on the website made it look. The housekeeping was terrible.. they didn’t wash cups and plates or replace bathroom items so I had to call to request toilet paper! The only good thing was the breakfast. We were without wifi for the whole 3 night stay, which with 3 kids was a nightmare. The front desk tried but couldn’t fix it and said there’s not much they can do!! We will never stay there again especially room 117.

Hi was just wondering if you have dvd player in the queen superior rooms, & what are the breakfast times? Thanks a lot.
Answer from Wayne S

Hi, from memory I recall a set top box which was the only way I could watch TV, however I don't recall seeing a DVD player. I did'nt have breakfast for two reasons, 1st I left early before breakfast was being served and the 2nd was I thought they had stolen enough money from me and I was'nt about to waste any more. Cheers
