This motel offers cozy, quiet individual units furnished with the necessary essentials about 7 miles south of Westport. The gracious owners (Lee and Karen ) live on site with their two friendly small dogs (Alexander the Great and Jimmy Choo). Lee generously drove us to the Tauranga Bay car park for a 90-minute afternoon hike along the Cape Foulwind coast and seal colony back to the motel. The unit is great for a couple, but the bathroom is small with a Neo shower stall; it did showcase a nice wood floor and vanity top. There is a small refrigerator but no cooking capability in the unit; Lee offered to let use their microwave oven. Breakfast was included and featured fruit, cereal and breads with homemade butter. Be sure to make a reservation at the office to use the hot tub for 30-minutes. Friendly folks and a fine place to stay near Westport on the West Coast.

Wonderfully appointed units, tastefully decorated to reflect the colours of the surrounding natural environment using luxurious furnishings. The bed was superb as were the linens and towels. The shower was one of the best we’ve experienced on our journey and the breakfast was beautifully presented using a range of fresh and nutritious cereals, fruits and yogurt. Thoroughly recommend this place and the very accessible seal colony and walk was an added bonus.

My husband and I stayed at Omau Lodge for two nights. When we arrived about 5 pm we were greeted very enthusiastically by the owner and showed to our studio where the electric blanket had been very thoughtfully turned on and the unit was cosy and warm. Everything in the unit was of high quality, was very well stocked and spotlessly clean. We loved the recycled rich timber floors throughout. Breakfast was included in the price, extremely generous and set out in an adjoining, toasty warm, sunny, large dining room. Fresh and preserved fruit, home made preserves, yoghurt, a variety of cereals, teas, brewed coffee, freshly baked bread etc greeted us. Both owners were so friendly and helpful with information on the area. We're looking forward to a return visit. Pub next door served delicious food including large portions of fresh succulent fish and chips. Loads to do in the area . Clifftop walk with seal colony adjacent. No hesitation in recommending Omau Lodge for a relaxing stay.

While the rooms were small, they were very nicely designed and offset from each other to give privacy to each room. The host, Lee, is a trip in himself and his wife Karen is a delight. Nice breakfast included. Great dinner next door at the Star Tavern, don’t miss it — free pool and a super nice golden mastiff.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Omau Settlers, hosts are genuinely friendly people who provide excellent accommodation, comfy beds, a clean spa pool, and a very kiwi breakfast of cereal, fruit and home made bread. Highly recommend the Star Tavern for a fresh, wholesome dinner served with a smile. Loved our stay, thank you

Pam was a great host, nothing was too much trouble. She asked if we wanted the room serviced rather than just assuming and she left extra bottles of bodywash, shampoo etc which was much appreciated. Breakfast was good; fruit, cereals, yoghurt, toast spreads plus some blueberry muffins which were lovely. We really enjoyed meeting her little pup Mika !

We stayed two nitghts in this motel with nice views and gardens and also with good facilities anb breakfast included. The hosts were extremely kind helping us with advice about restaurants and walks in the area.

Walking to the motel from Tauranga Bay and Cape Foulwind is very easy and the motel’s manager helped taking us with his car until the start of the coastal track.

A place to recommend with a good balance price/quality.

Lee and Karen made us very welcome - drying a load of washing for us and driving us to the start of the coastal walkway. The location is perfect, a short distance to beautiful beaches and the stunning Cape Foulwind Walkway. We had a great dinner at the nearby pub and Lee and Karen's breakfast was delicious too - home-made bread, cereal and fresh fruit. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

Very comfortable room with front and back porches, nice en-suite bathroom and lovely view. Our host Lee was very friendly and attentive, serving a good breakfast of cereals, fruit, toast with jams and coffee/tea. Lee offered a complimentary transfer to/from local walks and resolved a minor issue immediately! Nearby pub within walking distance was reasonable and good. Would have stayed longer if time permitted and won’t hesitate to return.

We've stayed here approximately 9 times for the Buller Marathon weekend over the years. We love this place, it's clean , peaceful and the hosts are like old friends we see once a year. The breakfast room is like a meeting place to chat to people ( when we stay it's mostly marathon people) . The hot tub down in the bush area is lovely at night.
A great place to chill out & relax, or a base for some lovey walks around Cape Foulwind.
The Star Tavern a very short walk from the motel do a pretty good meal too.
