MAKE CARTERS BEACH YOUR DESTINATION !! 10 contemporary spacious (30m2) studios (opened Dec 2015) overlooking the Tasman Sea at Carters Beach, a pretty little village 5 min from Westport. Each studio has under tile bathroom heating, ceiling fans, a full kitchen, choice of luxurious queen or king beds and occasional chairs. Two studios have corner spa baths. The upstairs studios have balconies (all with sea views) and the ground floor studios have patios (studio 1 and 2 with sea views). Each studio is designed for maximum comfort and relaxation to the soothing sound of the sea and the local bird life. The studios have been built to maximum earthquake code and are sound proof from each other by use of concrete midspan floors and concrete block construction. Carters Beach is a sandy beach, suitable for swimming and surfing, located within Buller Bay, with relaxing walks either to the Buller River mouth or up to the impressive Cape Foulwind cliffs and Tauranga Bay with glorious sunsets. Carters by the seas is the perfect destination to base yourself and relax by the sea. We are close to the beautiful Punakaikai Rocks via the spectacular Great Ocean Road , the UNDERWORLD RAFTING TOUR or the GLOW WORM CAVE TOUR at Charleston , the SEAL COLONY & LIGHTHOUSE WALKWAY at Tauranga Bay and THE DENNISTON EXPERIENCE up at the famous Denniston Incline (30 mins out of Westport ) as well as a day out at KARAMEA and the PREHISTORIC OPARARA ARCHES ( 1.5 Hours from Carters Beach).

I had originally booked an AirBnB in Greymouth but due to us being booked into a Caving Adventure in Charleston which started early, I canceled and booked Carters. And boy am I glad! After our quad bike adventure in Frans Josef and a very long drive, it was lovely to arrive to friendly staff, a spotless, modern, well equipped room. We loved being able to walk mere metres to the beach for a walk and after many meals out, being able to make our own dinner in the well appointment kitchen. We had two rooms as there was 4 of us which made the cost - $320 for one night a little bit high but it was worth the comfort. This is a lovely motel in a stunning location. I would definitely return.

On a first time visit to Westport and the surrounding region (the wife and I) couldn't decide where to stay. We wanted a sea view and nearby Carters beach seemed to be worth a look. We booked into the Beachside apartments and it was a good move. You overlooked the beach (which was about a 100 metre walk to get to) and for bonus value there was a pub / eatery about a 25 metre walk to get to. The weather was fantastic so it made our stay all the more pleasurable. The room was spacious and well appointed. Westport is only 5 km away as well. We arrived unannounced (i like to live dangerously and not plan anything.... occasionally) and the staff were pretty good at sorting something for us. A great spot that is well worth a visit.

A great place to stay .A lovely reserve & play area across the road as was the beach . We had a sea front Unit upstairs with amazing views ( it was wet the whole time we were there & unable to sit out on the balcony ) The unit was well equipped , very clean, loved the part open shower , had everything one would need. There is a Great friendly restaurant / Bar about 100 steps down the road , with great food & wonderful service . The Accommodation is about 10min drive from the township south of Westport . It is a place I would Highly Recommend & would definitely go back

Had 3 lovely days at the apartments. Serviced daily, lovely and clean. Our hosts were most helpful with their recommendations and suggestions. WiFi was a bit of a problem kept dropping out once the apartments all filled up with guest. Would definitely stay again at Carter’s on the Beach.

Hi there, Felt compelled to write this review, visited the above accommodation just before the NZ lockdown. The apartments are clean and tidy and basically brand new. In a fabulous location close to walks ,Tauranga bay for surfing, Cape foulwind lighthouse, etc. For New Zealanders looking for a getaway post NZ lockdown, this is an ideal location and a great way to support our kiwi hospitality. We were greeted by Chris in the office, he gave us lots of ideas about different walks and things to do in the local area. The room was spacious, clean and very well set out. A car park on the premises was provided. The laundry facilities were very handy and much needed by the time we arrived. The restaurant next door has delicious and affordable meals, a must try! A lovely place to stay, highly recommend.

We came across this place by accident and it turned out wonderful. Stunning view and a very clean, well put together unit. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Also a short walk to Donaldo's Restaurant for a great meal was helpful for those of us who don't want to cook. So pleased we came across these units.

I don't , as a rule , write reviews - unless a place has been exceptionally good ( or bad...) My wife and I stayed here last weekend for two nights. The friendly owner was really helpful in suggesting places to go and things to do in the area. The motel was lovely and quiet. It had good ocean views from our unit window. The room was very clean and well appointed. Nice comfy bed , great spa bath. The motel was in a nice quiet area and easy to get to. It also has a great pub/restaurant next door with friendly owners and a great menu. We will definately be back - highly recommended for a weekend away.

We stayed in an upstairs apartment with a spa bath. Everything was very clean..loved the warm floor in the bathroom. The owners were super friendly and advised us of local attractions to see. I think the spa bath is best suited for 1 person.. or 2 skinny people lol :)

Our rooms were clean and well presented. We received all the information we needed for arrival well before we arrived so we were very comfortable. The view of the beach was really pretty. It was a convenient location so close to the seal colony/lighthouse walk.

Thank you for your great review, we are glad you enjoyed what we have created here with our location overlooking Carters Beach. Being the newest motel in our beautiful region, we have provided luxurious interiors and furnishings including the sleepyhead premium beds to create an enjoyable and relaxing beachside stay. As we are brand new, we have had a lot of tourists finding us "by chance" and enjoying our complex and the surrounding beach and the Northern Westcoast beach area.
There are more places to choose from in the Westport area.
