I made a very late call to get accommodation here, after the top10 at carters Beach would only accept late arrivals if an absolute emergency! Which i guess is fair enough. But I'm very glad that was the case. Tripinn was fantastic, not only was I accepted late, but the staff were very friendly, super helpful. It is a very beautiful building, and the entire place is absolutely spotless. Terrific value, very highly recommended

In a large old house. The main feature is the stunning gardens and the spaces available outside to eat in the fresh air. Lovely. Kitchen is large and very well equipped. Showers hot but wet towels dumped in a corner. Bedroom was small and a bit cramped for space. Spaces to store bikes. BBQ not working. Would stay again.

We stayed in the room with en-suite which we found very good, it was warm, had a TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a great shower. The shared space was also very good with a large kitchen, dining room and lounge. Plenty of out door seating for those summer evenings. There is off street parking and loan bikes available. The original part of the build is ~160 years old with the extension making it two storied being 130 years old so is a piece of history. This is budget accomodation and delivers good value for money.

Passing through for the night was a rather uncomfortable experience. There was a small group traveling together which were not a problem.... just enjoying themselves at a moderate level. What I do not enjoy is hearing and witnessing (when I come out my room to investigate the noise), the business owner screaming like a banshee, swearing and calling a group of young ladies “dumb, *insert bad many words*”. Extremely poor behaviour, even if the group was problematic. Not only was the owner acting in an aggressive manor to her clientele, there were other issues, the property seems soulless, printed out rules all over the place, a small dog and three cats to trip over, which were allowed into the kitchen, lounges and guest rooms.... not exactly hygienic. I advise you try a different location.

Your review is obviously so untrue and completely made up to support your friend jodi's review below that its laughable. You NEVER came out of your room and witnessed or heard me screaming or saying "bad words" to your friend because all of the trouble she was causing was in the main building and I never once came out anywhere near the units you stayed in so this is a complete lie. Also the animals have NEVER been in the guests rooms and they dont want to, they live in our private accommodation upstairs and spend some time in reception, on the night your group stayed you will recall showering the wee dog with so much affection on your arrival even your tour guide had to ask you to put her down, after this she was kept in my private accommodation all evening so as to keep her safe, many of your group actually kept asking if they could see the cats but they are timid so stayed away from the noise. Secondly I am not an aggresive person by nature and spoke to you calmly and quietly in all instances so as not to disturb other guests. And as far as you saying the place is soulless, I overheard a lot of your group saying this was the best hostel they had ever been in shortly after arriving. The only segment of thruth in your review being that "some of your group were problematic". Later in the evening some of your group even apolagised to me for the behaviour of a few of you. The whole evening is on security cameras and we would be happy to send this to your tour guide who was asleep and unaware of the disgraceful immature behaviour of a few who could not grasp the fact that they were in a hostel where people were trying to sleep not a pub ! These spiteful reviews are now well known for exactly that and stick out like a sore thumb. All you've done is make a complete fool of yourself in support of your foolish friend.

Host doesn't permit alcohol after 9pm even if it's your birthday. Swears at you if you make any noise past 9pm. Yes; the showers were clean but if you actually want to enjoy travelling DO NOT STAY HERE. The host locked us out of the main building because we were "too loud " despite this being before 10pm" Please do not stay here, you will ruin your trip. I promise this is not a good representation of new zealand hospitality.

Obviously due to the overly inerbriated state you were in you only have 2 facts correct: True we dont permit alcohol after 9pm (for obvious reasons which you have displayed) & yes the showers are clean. In respose to your other accusations you were asked 3 times between 9 and 9:30 pm to quieten down after driving our 30 odd other guests out of the common area with your loud drinking games etc, even though you assured me you only had empty glasses. You eventually took your alcohol and carried on drinking until 11pm in the games room where you became over intoxicated which is when I put a stop to it, never once swearing at you or locking you out of the main building, you were just to drunk to operate the door handle or use the code after 11 pm. Our security camera footage shows a completely different story to yours and I will endevour to post some pictures of you and friends climbing through windows, running around hostel disturbing other guests sleep, going in behind my reception desk : all of this with wine glasses and bottles in hand up until midnight. So you seem to have left all of this out of your review. ALL of our guests comfort, safety and sleep is a priority to us and if that means dissapointing one drunk immature birthday girl who does not yet have the maturity or respect to think of others then we will do so, regardless of the threat of a spiteful review on trip advisor which shows itself to be completely at odds with our other reviews on all booking platforms.
