Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We loved everything about this place. The view, the grounds, the room, the breakfast, and the host. Just like other's comments, this is probably the best B&B we've ever stayed. Our host Terry cooked us foodie quality breakfast, helped us booking the fix plane ride, and even cleaned the windshield of our car in the morning!

*At a glance, it’s all been said pretty well. *Liz & Terry have a lot of balls in the air but still manage to be ‘present’, pleasant, fun, competent, & even generous! *being ~ 10 minutes or so outside of te anau might bother some, but we were very happy with the wonderful gardens, decks, views, peace & quiet - - even the ‘bugling’ of the deer! *breakfast was a real treat for ‘food-folk’ like us ... would be good to set aside enough time (more than we did!) to relax & enjoy the place!! (as an aside, we also would suggest the smallish ‘Cruise Milford’ boat ilo the bigger boats ... though the large sailboat looked like fun. and we specially liked the ‘red cliff’ restaurant.)

Hands down the best b&b we have ever stayed in. Amazing breakfasts, thoughtfully packed breakfast bag for the kids, ATV ride to see neighboring farms animals and lovely insights into Tea Anau area. We really felt right at home and the kids loved playing with Kate (the black lab) and the chickens! Thanks Liz and Terry for a fabulous time.

We loved our stay at this B&B. Such an idyllic place, perhaps the best B&B we have ever been to! It was great spending time in the garden and on the patio, just watching and listening to the birds, with a wonderful view of Fiordland. Terry really made us feel at home and went out of his way to make us comfortable. His breakfast of fresh eggs and home grown tomatoes and spinach leaves you feeling satisfied all day. Along with afternoon pie, slices and a great coffee and tea selection. We were also treated to a packed breakfast/ lunch on the day when we left early for Kayaking on Milford Sound. Loved our stay, memories of NZ, hope to return.

Stayed here for 2 nights in our tour of this part of NZ. Liz and Terry are the most welcoming of people you will meet and they have a lovely property in a beautiful area of NZ farmland, just 10 minutes away from the centre of Te Anau. A real warm B&B option! We had Te Anau as base for day trips into Milford and Doubtful Sound. Would recommend 2 or 3 days to do something like that, and this is a great place to be based. Makes hotel options in Te Anau look very average

We had spent two great days at B & B Whitestone. Liz and Terry showed that we arrived home. It just fits everything. Starting from the super beautiful garden with many lovely details to the lovingly decorated rooms and the fantastic breakfast. For us it is the best B & B in New Zealand. We will come back.

We stayed here for 4 nights. Terry and Liz made us very welcome. Lovely accommodation in rural setting. Our room was a good size with a very modern, tasteful en suite. Really nice garden area for relaxing with plenty of seating. Also deck area. Very nice lounge with fridge for keeping food, beer or wine. Comfortable seating with open view to the garden and mountains beyond. Plenty tea and coffee available and Liz makes fantastic cakes. The breakfasts are the best we have had in B and B. Great coffee and lots of fresh fruit in addition to an excellent hot dish. Very helpful advice about local activities/tours. Nothing too much trouble. We were sorry to leave.

Our family of 4 stayed here in January on a trip through the South Island. The drive to this B&B from the main road is picturesque, and another chance to enjoy the stunning NZ countryside. We had a double room and children's twin room and our own luxury bathroom. The rooms are beautifully decorated with high quality linen and tasteful furnishings. The guest lounge is well kitted out and Liz made us brownies to have with tea, coffee or wine. The view of the Murchison ranges from the guest lounge and breakfast room are spectacular. The breakfast was gourmet and plentiful - definitely our best breaky in NZ. Highly recommend this B&B.
