Staying at the Stoneybrae was lovely and really like a home stay.. The room we stayed in was very roomy and comfortable and spotlessly clean, with a porch with a nice view. The breakfast was extravagant and beautifully set out. Susan and Bill are very attentive and helpful hosts who welcomed us into their home. One evening we had an after dinner drink together and had a very interesting conversations with them in which we learned a lot about Te Anau and New Zealand - and they took an interest in our country and experience. One more thing - we were told by people in Queenstown that there is not much in Te Anau and that it's mostly a staging point for Miford Sound. That is not the case. The town is very nice and a great place to spend time, particularly if you like to hike or spend time on the lake. We would gladly have stayed longer.

We stayed 2 nights in the beautiful B and B of Susan and Bill. We had a very nice room and bathroom with a great view on the mountains. We could leave our stuff in our room when we walked the Milford track (4 days) and very kind, when we came back from the track we could use the washing machine. The breakfast was amazing and very extensive. Susan and Bill make you feel at home and are such lovely people. Thank you so much for your hospitality, the ‘port’ with chocolates, the cheese after our Milford adventure, your information about things to do, etc. The place to be in Te Anau.

We spent two wonderful days in Te Anau with a warm welcome received by Susan and Bill. Two wonderful people who are open-minded and helpful to all our requests. A great accommodation that leaves nothing to be desired. We spent a wonderful evening, had a lot of fun and discussed a lot of interesting topics . Excellent accomodation with brilliant breakfast. If we once again come to Te Anau, this accommodation will be our first choice. Thank you very much.

We enjoyed every minute of our 3 night stay in February. Bill and Susan are wonderful hosts, they made us feel so welcome -- as if we had been friends for years! They clearly enjoy meeting people and and sharing their home. On the practical side, our room was lovely, comfortable bed and a full en-suite. Breakfast was simply top quality. Help with booking visits to Milford and Doubtful Sounds was much appreciated and it was also useful to have menus from local restaurants in the room. Bill and Susan have a beautiful home and we cannot thank them enough for everything they did to make our stay so memorable. We wish we could have stayed longer.

What a wonderful B&B! The hospitality of Susan and Bill ist unmatched. They gave us some strengthening cake and coffee as we arrived. We had a really enjoyable talk and laughed a lot. The rooms are very comfortable, the view outside wonderful and the breakfast lovingly prepared and delicious. Nothing left to be desired. Thanks so much for this unforgettable stay! When you visit e.g. Milford Sound or the Te Anau Glowworm Caves make a stop here.

My wife and I and our two adult (early twenties) sons enjoyed two wonderful evenings at Stoneybrae. Susan and Bill were consummate hosts; warm and friendly, engaging and full of helpful suggestions. Stoneybrae is a warm, comfortable, clean and inviting B & B located in a beautiful setting with views of a nearby lake and majestic mountains. Our stay at Stoneybrae was definitely a highlight of our trip and this can be attributed primarily to the genuine hospitality exhibited by Susan and Bill. Definitely a 5 star experience and we would love to stay there again! If you plan to do Milford Sound be sure to stay two nights in Te Anau and make sure your stay is at Stoneybrae B & B. You will be glad you did.

We were welcomed with tea and coffee and freshly baked scones. Susan was so nice to take us around the lake in her car. The lake is very stunning! We got advice about restaurants and she called the restaurant to make a reservation for us. Afterwards we sat down and had a lovely evening with Susan and Bill, with some port and chocolate! The room was warm, clean and with a nice view. The breakfast was wonderful! We had a good time staying in this B&B and wished we could have stayed longer.

Susan and Bill are guest-centered hosts. They take pride in going above and beyond a normal B&B, including custom breakfasts, arranging tours, recommending restaurants, and much more. They enjoy chatting with their guests in their comfortable living room - we stayed up much too late one talking! We stayed in the Rimu (queen ensuite), which is spacious and comfortable. Breakfasts are large and tasty. The location is on the outskirts of town, so be prepared for a walk to town centre, though it's just a few minutes by car. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and highly recommend Stonybrae.
