Detailed Reviews

We stayed at Red Tussock for four nights with
our two young kids. It was a great base for tours to Milford & Doubtful Sounds and the Glow worm Cave. The room was in a new building, very clean, spacious, well presented and comfortable. It had a big king size bed in the bedroom and a queen size sofa bed in the living area. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom (shower only) clean and spacious. The Manager Robin was very helpful and even did a load of washing for us and lent us some Tomato Sauce. The motel is an easy 10 min (with young kids) walk along the lake from the town centre.

The location is close to the lake, about 10 minutes walk along the lake shore to the middle of town. The room was quite large, the bed was comfortable, all the usual things were available in the room and worked properly, including Internet. We'd happily stay here again.

We stayed at the Red Tussock Motel last weekend and it was such a treat! The motel unit we stayed in was completely new. The bed is a super-king size and super comfy, the rooms are all very spacious and the fixtures and fittings are of very high quality, with little touches such as cell phone chargers above the bed (I wanted to take the kitchen sink home!). It was very quiet and having stayed 3 nights we felt very rested after our stay. Paul was super friendly and helpful. Overall, this is the best motel I have stayed in, and we HIGHLY recommend it!

We stayed one night at the Red Tussock motel on the way to Milford Sound. The manager was a great source of local information and tips which was very helpful
Our room was an older style but had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The motel was in a great location next to the lake and close to good walking/running tracks and the bird sanctuary and a swimming beach, but close enough to walk to the Main Street restaurants.

The motel is new, clean with large rooms and a well organized kitchen. The location is at walking distance from the main road of Te Anau, but unfortunately there was now view of the lake from our unit.
The manager Robin was very kind in giving us all the indications for the attractions of Te Anau.
If I'll return in this area, this motel will be definitely my choise

The owner/manager goes way beyond expectations with regards to being helpful and efficient. This made our trip to the Routeburn Great Walk much easier. The rooms are excellent: Everything works, no noise problems, great location. For sure this would be the first place we look up if we return to the beautiful Te Anau!

Our unit was a ground level mobility access unit having a wet room bathroom suitable for wheelchair access. The unit was one bedroom and with a single bed in the lounge area. Wheelchair users had ample access to all areas in the unit. The unit was away from the road, with the motel being situated just across the road from the lake shore. Good blackout curtains and very comfy beds ensured a great nights sleep. Everything was extremely clean and it was a pleasure to stay in this unit. A very helpful manager on the property who ensured we got the accommodation we were looking for. We would definitely stay at this property if travelling this way again. Thank you.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and wished it was longer! Greeted by the very friendly host (Paul) and shown to our near new 1 b/room apartment. This had everything we needed to make our stay very comfortable. Very good lighting, USB charging points at the bedhead, good crockery and cutlery, king size bed was very comfortable with good class linen. Good laundry facilities, very good free wifi and so many little things that make travelling a pleasure. Thanks, Paul and all the best.

We stayed 1 night before a booked cruise, and I must say, everything was just perfect. It was clean, had everything you could possibly need and robin was so friendly and helpful. It is very close to the main town in a nice quiet residential area

My wife and I stayed for 3 wonderful Nights.
Upon arrival, Robin, Hotel Manager, greeted
us and showed us our accommodations. It
was very spacious and clean, especially for
2 people.
We had cleaning services once and did they
do a tremendous job. They even washed 3
dirty cooking pans from dinner the night before.
Great Job Robin….please share with your staff.
We Highly recommend.
