We booked this place when the other fancy lodging we booked pre-hike didn’t have space for us afterwards. Wow. Dunluce was a much more comfortable place to land! The room was lovely, spacious and comfortable, had beautiful views, and was spotlessly clean. Hannah had snacks, fruit, and drinks available all day. Hannah was so sweet offering to do a load of laundry as it had rained during our hike and perhaps we arrived smelling like we had been wearing the same clothes for a few days!

When the Milford and Routeburn tracks were cancelled due to trail and road damage, she also helped us explore alternative ideas with our freed up time. We ended up having an absolutely wonderful time by renting a car and exploring the scenic southern route.

If we ever come back to Te Anau to complete those great walks, we will look no further than Dunluce. Book it. You won’t regret it.

There are beds and there are breakfasts but this is not a B & B.

The rooms are thoughtfully and tastefully furnished, carpets over the flooring, rugs on chairs and Hannah is a knowledgable and charming host.

There are nick knacks and the properties common areas have touchs which exude character and charm. When you come back in after a day of tramping as my room the Kepler includes a Jacuzzi you can luxuriate with the smell of scented candles wafting around. The towels are fulsome the toiletries luxurious.

If you are moved by the thought of Smart TV's the rooms have them.

One day the whipping round NZ in eighteen days international tourists will be back meanwhile Kiwi's can have an extended luxury stay here. Indeed they always should.

We stayed at Dunluce before and after our Kepler track hike and enjoyed it very much.

Friendly Hannah welcomed us and offered us complimentary drinks from the communal area's fridge. Coffees, teas and an afternoon snack are also provided. (A cappuccino machine would be awesome to add.) You order your hot breakfast item the evening before with the approximate time. The continental portion was lovely with cereals, fruits and muffins. The French toast was FABULOUS.

Our first room was the Stuart room, the only one that can be made into twin beds. It was comfortable with a couple of chairs, TV, and a terrific little patio with an idyllic view (past the road) of sheep, cows, mountains. The bathroom was disappointing as there was minimal counter space, and the shower had only a curtain so water splattered everywhere. We later learned it is a wheelchair accessible room/bath.

We left for our hike, leaving our car at Hannah's, which is less than 10 minutes drive from town. The taxi was pricey to the DOC: some $20.

We had booked three nights for the Kepler track, but after two very very primitive lodgings we pushed through and came back into town early. Happily, Hannah had a cancellation and put us into the Kepler room at a special rate.

Wow! It was more spacious than the other room, with a king bed, chest of drawers, closet, chairs and a terrific bathroom with a giant jacuzzi tub--just what we needed after our hike. The weather had cleared and the little patio was splendid to enjoy the sun and views.

I asked Hannah if she had any laundry services and she said they'd be happy to do a load for us! I also asked for the lemonade I had last time from the fridge but she was out. A little while later, Hannah had gone to the store and purchased lemonade, plus cherries for her guests!

We had French toast again for breakfast, and Hannah kindly delayed our timing as my daughter was soundly sleeping during our requested time.

Dunluce was a wonderful oasis en route to Kepler and Milford Sound, with lovely appointments and amenities and a sweet and thoughtful hostess.

The rates are high for Te Anau. But for our return from Kepler, it was worth every cent.

Thanks, Hannah!

Only stayed one night en route to overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound. Nonetheless it was. A most enjoyable one night. This is a purpose built first class B&B with just four luxury rooms managed by a delightful young lady by the name of Hannah. There is a communal lounge with fridge stacked with complimentary soft drinks, beer and wine as well as the usual tea and coffee making facilities. Good parking availability at the rear where we were able to leave our car for the extra night whilst we on the cruise. The room was very comfortable with a large king sized bed and spacious en-suite bathroom with all toiletries supplied. A very good breakfast was in the communal room and Hannah cooked eggs and bacon as requested. Otherwise the usual array of breads, cereals and jams. There are beautiful lake views from the rooms and the centre of town is a short drive or a 25minute walk to some good restaurants. Highly recommended.

We were welcomed by our lovely hostess who provided everything that we could want. Complimentary soft drinks, beers & wines, tea & coffee. She put fresh cakes out each afternoon. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order alongside a buffet selection of cold choices. Our room had a magnificent view of the mountains and its own patio area. It was spacious with easy chairs for added comfort. It's a bit of a way out of town (good 20 minute walk) so you would need a car or use taxis (cost us $14/£7 which is expensive for 5 minute journey).

My husband and I stayed at Dunluce for two, non consecutive nights - went on an overnight cruise of the Doubtful Sound in between - and we cannot wait to come back. The property is gorgeous and our room was decorated with an appealing NZ flair, as is the entire b&b... and super clean! Each room has a private patio with lavender flowers and views of the lake. Breakfast is served to your liking and Hannah, the hostess, could not be more welcoming with great ideas for the area.
Highly recommend Dunluce!

Quietly situated a 5-minute drive from the town with lake views from your terrace. The room has everything you need with no noise from adjoining rooms. The room got a bot hot during the day but cooled down OK in the evening. Very helpful and friendly host. Free cakes and drinks (including wine) each day. Freshly cooked breakfast around a large table shared with others. Really enjoyed our two-night stay during our New Zealand tour.

There was a dining room and patio that guests could use, with tea/coffee making facilites, a fridge and various free snacks/drinks for the guests. Breakfast was lovely. Hannah listened to what each guest was thinking of doing, and came back with ideas, routes, tips etc to make each day more special.Loved it, loved it, loved it. Thanks Hannah

This was my fourth visit to Dunluce and the second with the delightful Hannah Gray. All of the building blocks of what makes this place special and value for money were in place yet again. But there was more, Hannah is now expressing herself through the furnishings in the rooms, the bedside nik naks and the generousity of food and drink offerings in the afternoon and in the fridge. She is honouring the original creators Wendy and Roger and taking it higher and further.

I am not in the mood for a long forensic review but I want to personnally thank Hannah for her unfailing cheerfulness in not only responding to the devastating weather in Southland in early February and its consequences but the emerging Covid 19 crisis which has swept away so many plans for both provider and recipient in mere weeks.

But I will be back and the Humpridge Track and Boyd Creek on a Sunny day will happen.

Good Luck to all associated with this extremely accomplished and special offering.

We stayed here before going out on Doubtful Sound. What a beautiful place and fantastic host. We couldn’t have been more comfortable with a delightful room, fabulous views and warm hospitality. A delicious home cooked breakfast was made for us and so much thought had gone into every little detail. Hannah is an excellent hostess and provided us with excellent information about the area. Highly recommended.

Hummm not sure but I would think so, the couple that own Dunluce are quite relaxed, drop them an email but I'm sure you would be fine. Enjoy NZ it's a great place. Super friendly I would also recommend Doubtful Sound over Milford Sound. I'm currently in the UK but if you have any other questions happy to help.
