Radfords on the Lake is not just a hotel, it is a home away from home.
Kerri is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. She loves her hotel, her town and everything around Te Anau.
The room itself is nicely equipped with everything you need. A big bed, a nice kitchenette and a functional bathroom with a shower.
Radfords is located right at the lake, within walking distance to the center of town, the shops and restaurants.
This is the place to stay if you want to relax and enjoy the area!

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind review. We are so thrilled that you, Cristian enjoyed your time exploring Fiordland by Helicopter and Nicky going for her daily exercise along the side of the lake, and that the weather played its part for you during your stay! We look forward to taking care of you both again on your next adventure down south. It is always a highlight to welcome back return guests. Look after each other and until next time. Kindest regards Kerri and Steve.

To begin with, we enjoyed Radfords so much, that we booked another stay just a week later.
Te Anau is well situated for exploring both Milford and Doubtful Sound, taking a boat across the lake, a helicopter trip or sea-plane. or just wandering along the shoreline
Kerri, the owner was welcoming and friendly with lots of helpful suggestions for trips etc and could also arrange these for you.
Our upper floor lake view room was immaculate, tastefully decorated with, as others have mentioned, little touches that really make for a comfortable stay. Loved the pastel colour scheme, the spotless shower, plush towels, bathrobes, chocolates, table and chairs outside overlooking the well maintained pretty gardens..
We have stayed in many hotels and found that Kerri has a team of truly dedicated staff, who have not just set the bar high, but do their level best to maintain this standard everyday.
We were sorry to leave
Would highly recommend and would love to return when we visit Te Anau again.

First motel we have stayed in that made us feel reluctant to go out. Would have been easy to spend the night in, nestled in the comfort of our lakeside room with a good view of the lake. Quality furnishings throughout, with everything you could possible need including the stunning communal barbeque area. The attention to detail extends from the high level of cleanliness of the rooms to the well maintained gardens and grounds. Kerri and her staff clearly understand hospitality and go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Their tips and recommendations on activities and dining experiences (easy walking distance to town) helped to take our stay in Te Anau to the next level. Sadly we were only staying the one night, looking forward to making it a little longer next time.

We enjoyed 2 nights at Radfords and wont stay anywhere else in Te Anau. Kerri is a wonderful host, full of local knowledge and ideas, what attractions are "must do", where the best coffee is and restaurants.

We had a wonderful stay at Radfords on the Lake, after we had some unexpected vehicle trouble. From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Kerri, we had amazing service and nothing was a problem. Radfords is located directly across the road from the lake, with lovely views and a short walk to town and cafe/restaurants. We stayed in a two bedroom unit which was immaculately clean and spacious, with modern furnishings. The beds were comfy with beautiful linen and we loved the little touches of bath salts and chocolates beside the beds. We would highly recommend staying here and can't wait to go back!

Our experience from the moment we arrived at Radford's was memorable for all the right reasons. Kerri gave us a great welcome as well as some really good advice on where to go and what to do locally. The recommendation to go and see the Ata Whenua movie and enjoy a glass of wine at the little local cinema was a highlight. Comfortable, spotless and and well appointed the rooms are great value for money. We loved the small touches from the provision of a blue tooth speaker to the little chocolates next to the coffee. Located straight across from the lake the room also had a great view with a balcony area to take it all in. A short walk to the main shopping area with all of its cafes and bars made this a great spot to base ourselves. We'd definitely recommend Radford's on the Lake for your trip to Te Anau.

My husband and I are frequent travellers around the world and have experienced a variety of accommodations. This lovely hotel will be one that we remember, not only for the comfort and amenities but for the warm hospitality we received. We had a suite on the ground floor -- kitchenette/dining room/living area plus bath with large whirlpool tub and bedroom with gorgeous bedding. The beds were so comfortable and, at the base of the bed, was a large shelf perfect for luggage. The kitchenette was stocked with a French press, teapot with filter, mini-refrigerator and plates, cups, dishes, wine glasses, beverage glasses, toaster, etc. The owner CLEARLY took quite a lot of pride in this place and put A LOT of thought into imagining what a guest what might/need/enjoy. Our double glass sliding doors overlooked a flowing fountain and outdoor seating with Camilla blooms in bowls. We did a take out pizza night with our group and it was the perfect place to watch dusk wash over the lake and mountain range beyond. Kerri (manager? owner?) greeted our group and sent us off with the warmest of farewells after our stay. This review would be too long to go over the extra mile that Kerri went to ensure our stay was amazing. It was! This experience will be fondly remembered as a highlight stay.

We spent three nights here and we were made to feel so very welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was a second floor suite and was fabulous. Very spacious with a really comfortable super king sized bed and an excellent en suite shower room and a wonderful lake view. It was really lovely to be able to use the excellent laundry facilities and our continental breakfast delivered the day before was delicious....bread for toasting with preservatives, a lovely selection of fruit, muesli and yoghurt and a great choice of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The location is perfect, just opposite the lake and a stones throw from the visitors centre for boat trips and the helicopter and sea plane offices. Thoroughly recommend this home from home to any visitor.

HI, We have great heating in all the units and we also have fans for the few days when they are required. Kind Regards Kerri
Hi Limsimseng
It takes about 2.5 hours to drive by car from Te Anau (where Radfords is located) to Milford sound. If you are looking to drive into Milford Sound and then back Te Anau later in the day it's a 5 hour round trip.
The road is windy in sections so it can be a tiring day trip, particularly if you're not used to NZ roads :-) You need to be careful to go with a full petrol tank if you are driving as there is no petrol station at Milford Sound.
You can stay overnight in Milford Sound although there are not many accommodation options. We did this and highly recommend it - gives you plenty of time to do a cruise and look around.
Also easy to get there on a day tour by bus from Te Anau.
If you are driving from Milford Sound to Queenstown (one way) it will take at least 4.5 hours. (Be careful because some websites and online maps indicate it's only a couple of hours ... but it's definitely around 4.5 hours and a long drive!).
Hope this helps!
