Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This holiday location offers so much, camping, motorhome berths, units of several configurations, kitchens, BBQ’s, toilet blocks and laundries. The units offer simple comfort, the showers are sensational. It is also the drop off and pick up point for the Tracknet transfers from Queenstown and the Great walks.

We arrived & checked in very late , no issue at all our cabin was basic but comfortable - shower and kitchen block are superb for a shared camp facility the only thing was there’s no cutlery or plates provided at all so we ate breakfast out of an old ice cream tub we’d stored sandwiches in! - if the owners read this - that’s got to be sorted out - people travelling light and using cabins don’t tend to carry kitchen utensils - that aside a great camp site very impressed

The location of the site and the garden areas on the site are lovely. We had booked a basic room for the night to give us a break from sleeping in a tent. The room was indeed very basic! A small fridge in the room would have been appreciated, and we knew that it wasn’t en suite, but I think for the price we paid, this would have been nice. We found we had no WiFi ( the receptionist had told us it was poor in our part of the site). If I had known this in advance, I would have considered not booking the site, however, the advert says free WiFi. I then went to put some food in the fridge, and found some of the fridges out of order and the ones which were working were very full and FILTHY. I was reluctant to actually put food in them - they smelt of off meat and one had dried blood on the shelf. I did report this and the receptionist said they had stopped cleaning them due to people complaining about their food being moved. I do not find this an acceptable excuse for not cleaning fridges. I then wanted to cook a simple meal, only to find that there were no kitchen implements such as pans etc. we have been camping in a tent in NZ for 3 weeks and have never stayed on a camp site where the basics weren’t available. We don’t have any pans, so we couldn’t cook that night. I had a shower and this was tepidly warm, it was not hot. Considering how much we paid for the room, I do not feel we had value for money. Overall we were very disappointed with our brief stay, and we’re very concerned about the hygiene in the fridges.

Very nice & convenient campground to Wanaka township, great toilet & kitchen facilities. Stayed in a cabin which was very well priced and very clean and tidy and convenient. The tent sites where i've stayed in the past are very good and well priced, though they have gone up since Hampshire took over, though still reasonable.

We stayed here in the Marakura apartments. These are beautiful and offer perfect views of the lake. The beds were comfortable and the extra tv in the main bedroom was a plus. Spacious light and bright. The three air con units in each of the rooms was really good as well. Was a winner for us and would definitely stay here again.

Accommodation was ok, we stayed in both the family cabin and Queen studio for couples. Ok but a few cleanliness issues. View of lake mostly obscured by trees. Now need to add words to reach the minimum of 200 characters apparently so there we go

The place is easy to find, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and it is right in front of the Te Anau lake. Accommodations like bathrooms, showers and the kitchen are clean and pretty central on the grounds. We booked in the privacy cabins, which offered just the space we needed to sleep and recharge. The wifi is not great, mostly functional in the common areas, but other than that, everything is as described.

We have stayed in this holiday park three times over the past several years. Overall, it’s a nice facility - about a 15 or 20 minute walk to town, new laundry room, pleasant landscaping. Our studio room was a bit worn. Mismatched dishes and the carpet was threadbare in spots. It needs an update. We were very disappointed in the internet connection or lack there of. “Free internet” is prominently displayed in their advertising but the only place to access it is in the office area. I think most residents had this same problem as there was always a crowd near the office. Overall, we had consistent internet connection in our room for probably a total of 30 minutes over three days. This was very disappointing for us as we had just finished the Routeburn track and desperately wanted to check in with our family. We complained to the front desk and were told the owners knew about the problem but were not addressing it (for whatever reason). So…bottom line, we most likely will not stay here again. If you don’t need to connect to the internet, it’s an okay place to stay.

Stayed 1 night as starting point for Doubtful Sound cruise & visit to Glowworm caves. Staff were very helpful & friendly. There is a small shop selling basic provisions. Stayed in a cabin which was clean & well equipped, with a large bathroom and bath tub. Took a while to figure out the heating, but fine after that. Location is a stones throw from the lake, and about 10-15 min walk into the small town of Te Anau. It's only about 3 min walk to a large "DOC" visitor centre, which is useful to "get your bearings" in the area. There are several well marked hiking trails in the area. In some ways we wished we had stayed longer, as there is quite a lot to see & do in the area.
