A small boutique hotel which I've selected to stay before heading to Milford Sound the following morning.
It was also the cheapest one we have booked throughout the trip and I was afraid it would turn out to be bad.
But it was better than I had expected, really. We were there in Dec, chilly weather and there's a radiator in the room which we did not have to use it. There's also one in the toilet to warm up before showering. On top of that, there's also electric blanket! It was definitely sufficient for the cold-ish weather in summer but not sure if it's enough for winter...
I forgot to bring the travel adapter but luckily they have it - I asked for it in advance. I believe it's limited so if you really forgot then it's necessary to ask them first.
All the basics were in the room - kettle, microwave, dishes etc. It's sufficient for simple food if you're eating in.
Reception was very helpful when we checked in, providing all the information in this little town. Checking in and out was easy too.
It's not a luxurious place but it's good if you're putting a night or two as it's reasonably priced and decent.

Good room, plenty of space (if anything maybe too much furniture). You can easily walk into the main street and have dinner etc. The host was very friendly and took time to explain many things when we checked in.
Our son had an unexpected nosebleed in bed during the night and we needed to leave early for Milford Sound. Once we had a mobile connection we emailed our apologies and offered to pay the cleaning bill but the owner was very understanding and didnt charge us anything!
Would be happy to stay here again or recommend to others!

This was a great stay. We actually got a room upgrade. The room was tidy, clean and well maintained. It was quite a big room too. They also provided mini shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and shower gel. The man at the desk was super friendly and very helpful

Motel is set back one road from lakeside road and within walking distance of lake and town centre. Room is well equipped for a one night stay, although wi-fi reception leaves a lot to be desired and is limited. Our sheets on our bed had not been cleaned properly which tainted our stay somewhat. Host was apologetic putting the blame on their cleaning company.

Dear guests, Thanks for letting us know that the sheets in your room is dirty, but we did checked just after you leave and we can confirm the sheets is definitely clean when you checked in, as the black stain been split on one sheet and one pillow case. We could't smell what the stain is because one of you try to clean it up and it was wet. We treated our staff as family and no one will allow such dirty sheet been place on to the bed for the guests in any circumstance, and our reliable sheets supplier Alsco won't have such dirty sheets offered to us as well. You may need to double check with your partner and confirm that the black mark is made by one of you in order to clear doubt between you and motel. At this stage, the case been recorded with photos and video. we will not charge a damage/cleaning fee,but we hold the rights to do so. "Wifi is free and unlimited" pointed out when your password been given at check-in and even when you log-in the internet clear says" The purpose of the Service is to provide free unlimited wireless Internet access to visitors of Bella Vista Te Anau." or you may easily find it is free unlimited in the motel compendium. Stayed 2 nights in this motel. Small size outdated room with updated bathroom. Firm bed with no AC but have a small fan. Bathroom looks like it's been updated.
Not happy that the motel posted full payment 10 days prior to our arrival even though we are aware we will be charged 100% for cancelation or no shows but should only be charged on the day of arrival. Booked through Hotels.com and saw below statement on the confirmation:
"Don’t worry, we haven’t taken any payment as you’ll pay the property directly in its local currency, along with any additional charges and fees incurred during your stay. These charges may be subject to a foreign exchange fee."
Called Hotels.com before we left and representative said the motel should have waited till the day of arrival. Representative contacted motel directly and was told their computer was down. When we arrived, the lady at the front desk told us to check with Hotels.com as they are the one posted the charges. However, my credit card statement only shows the motel's name and not Hotels.com. f the motel wants to charge full payment on the cancellation effective date, it should be stated clearly on the confirmation as double payment may happen.

The guests' booking has been amended a couple of times via Hotels.com and Expedia. The original booking is the guest to pay to hotels.com, but the credit card has been declined, the guest update their credit card and the last confirmed booking with a Deposit Policy: The guest will be charged a prepayment of the total price of the reservation in the 14 days before arrival. Therefore, we charge the guest's credit card, not Hotels.com. There is no pay-on-arrival option if guests booked from all the online travel agencies channels since 2018 in Bella Vista Te Ana, guests can find pay on arrival option on our website as a direct booking with Best Price Guarantee.

Location is fantastic, just a small stroll across the park to the main road. Rooms comfortable and clean, if a little dated, bar fridge and microwave. Upon arrival our room wasn t ready but the gentleman at the front desk was lovely letting us put food in his fridge. Upon checking in, the lady was extremely rude, unhelpful and generally this hotels worse asset. We enquired about the continental breakfast but we were informed u had to order 24 hours before. No mention on the Webb site and how one orders the day before u check in, without realising u had to, is beyond us. The breakfast price was $20 which is ludicrous for what was offered. After such a warm welcome to be so rudely addressed was disappointing.

We arrived early and the owner made a special effort to get our room ready for us. Sure enough after a short lunch was ready. We were received with great friendliness and helpfulness by the lovely lady on reception who went out of her way to make sure that everything was good for us - even booking a Milford sound cruise for us. When you stay with Bella Vista you know what to expect and whilst there are subtle nuances that define difference locations, the experience is fundamentally the same. The motel is in a quiet location slightly away from the lake and town centre, but only a 5 to 10 minute walk to both. We stayed in a Queen Studio, which is the next step up from the Compact Queen Studio. There was plenty of room for our suitcases and a large desk area and bathroom. All other aspects were what you would expect from Bella Vista. Immaculately presented and maintained, set in a lovely garden. The host Michael Liang is excellent. He was very helpful to me at the time of my booking and on meeting him, he proved to be an attentive and professional host. Te Anau is a beautiful place and for us it was made all the better by the quality of the accommodation. We would recommend it to family and friends and definitely stay there again.

Furthermore, like all BV's, this location is also neat, clean and with friendly people at the reception. We had a lovely stay for a couple of nights in this ever-so-clean and comfortable motel. The owner Michael was welcoming and provided us with many good tips for our stay and places to go and visit. He couldn't have been more helpful, making bookings and making sure everything was as we had wished for. It is a good base for visiting Milford Sound, the glow worm caves, and hiking and biking. An easy 5-minute stroll through the park brings you to the centre of town with shops, cafes and restaurants. We will definitely be back and stay here again.
