I agree with everything Barry H says. I would also add that the front door was poorly fitted with a lock that had little security- any key would have unlocked it. The whole place needed a good clean, & we washed all crockery & cutlery before use. The upholstery needed a thorough deep clean. The bottom shelf in the fridge door & the salad drawer were missing, reducing storage space. Only 1 rubbish bin in the whole place. Only redeeming feature was underfloor heating in bathroom.
Great stay. Very clean, quiet, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with plenty of towels and the same toiletries we’ve seen at 4 / 5 star hotels elsewhere in NZ. Very friendly welcome when we checked in with complimentary milk and a good recommendation for dinner (The Fat Duck). Good selection of teas and coffees and even a couple of cookies. Close to the lake so convenient for any tours you might be doing. Would definitely stay again!
We were booked into the "cottage" for 4 nights. this was at the side of the main property rather than the much smarter looking rooms in the main courtyard. Unfortunately the accommodation offered here is not at all like the website photos which are of the more modern apartments. This is an unusually negative review for me. On the plus side is the location (close to town centre), daily service for towels and rubbish clearance, bathroom is OK, cable TV and it is relatively quiet (although the hotel opposite has a lot coaches delivering and collecting at certain times). On arrival the cottage appearance is pretty bleak. The wooden structure is decorated with very old cobwebs, flaking yellow and white paint, a broken chair on the decking and is all adjacent to two ugly, large…
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and comfortable---nice bed, plush carpeting, easy parking. The staff was very friendly and helpful. And they have the cutest cat named Beer who trotted right up to us to say hello! Easy walking distance to the lake and lots of restaurants. Great stay.
We stayed in this motel before heading to Milford Sound the next day of our stay. This place is no wonder, just the ordinary. Wifi signal is poor. Towels replacement is good but not the toilet paper. Not so much to say about this place except for its proximity to city center.
