Stayed for 4 days to take a cruise on Milford Sound and do other hikes. Manager made our cruise arrangements and was very helpful. Motel has washer machine and clothesline. Lakefront is 5 min. walk via a walkway, town main street is a 10 min. walk via a walkway. Kepler Track is a 20 min. drive. So motel is very convenient and affordable.
Very helpful owners and a quiet location, but the unit was a bit small. Bedroom was tiny (couldn’t shut door because of third bed) and no hanging space. Not designed for taller people as bedroom had TV at head height where you walked round the bed and the shower was at chest height. Cooking equipment OK. The block we were in had road access at one end only so to park you had to choose between reversing in or out. Outlook from our unit was straight onto back of other block so you wouldn’t want to sit outside for the view.
The staff is friendly, the room is spacious and we each got an excellent night's sleep. Internet is available in the motel lobby. Family owned. The office was closed at 9 PM and we had to ring the doorbell to check out at 0730 AM. However, a number was available to call if you needed access when they were not open. The room was not tall person friendly. At 6'4" I banged my head on the TV shelf near the bed. The shower head must have been installed by a hobbit. It was so low I practically had to sit in the shower to was my hair. Very clean rooms and friendly owners. Easy walk to town along the nearby lake. Beautiful. Would definitely stay again if we had a room with a higher shower. Length of stay: 1 night
I think the family who own this motel is quite friendly. The little nice girl showed us around to the motel room which provide a jar of chilled water in the fridge beside one little box of milk. Milk is normal complimentary in New Zealand Motel. I like this motel because the furnitures are well located and they decorate area with nice flower plants. The location is great which I agree with the previous review. Facilities are great. For those who love to watch television would love this motel. I live in double room suite which has one tv in the living room, one in each of the 2 bed rooms. You can browse more than 3 channels. I recommend those who plan to go to Milford Sound to stay here rather than has a long drive from Queenstown. Also, you may start your South Island trip…
This was a cheap out of season stay (only £35 per night). Our unit was clean and warm although the decor was a bit uninspiring. You are only a couple of minutes from the lake shore and about a 10 minute walk to the centre of town. The host was very friendly and helpful. A good place to stay if you want somewhere cheap but comfortable. The electric blanket was very welcome on the cold nights.
