We had a truly lovely experience staying at Prospect Lodge. Ross and Joan were fantastic hosts and immediately made us feel welcome and comfortable in their home. Our room had all of the necessities and opened out onto a patio with an incredible view of the mountains and Lake Te Anau. The sunrise was stunning. Breakfast was delicious with a yogurt/granola spread, amazing croissants and highly recommended french toast (other options available). We also got to meet travelers from other parts of the world and share backgrounds and stories around the breakfast table, which was a nice experience. We hope to be able to stay here again and highly recommend!

3 nights in this beautiful house well arranged for us to be quiet. Little touches from our guests (homemade pastry, glass of wine, flowers...) the hearty breakfast to help us start the day of hikes. Even if you want to stay so much the view is beautiful and the estate huge. It feels good. Thank you Joan and Ross for such a pleasant short stay.

A lovely lodge just outside the town of Te Anau. Access up a 0.9 km fairly steep gravelled drive - good parking. Our room was comfortable with a walk out area with seating overlooking the garden and views over the lake. We were able to access the lounge area, however this was an area used by the owners and we felt as if we were intruding. Breakfast offered a range of food - yoghurt, fruit, juice, croissants, home made jams and marmalade and the usual cooked menu.

Me and my wife just checked out today from this lovely lodge after spending two nights as part of our honeymoon in New Zealand. The lodge is situated in the midst of breathtaking landscapes and it is 5 minute drive from the town centre. The interiors of the lodge are very elegant and well maintained.

Joan and Ross, the hosts, were very welcoming warm and friendly. We enjoyed bonding with them every morning over a delicious breakfast that was made by Joan before heading out to explore Te Anau. Joan was also very helpful in reccomending different places me and my wife could dine in. She was also kind enough to make sure our room was always neat before we arrive from each outing. And the treats left in our room were a thoughtful touch from them!

We can't wait to come back and stay in the Prospect Lodge again!

We would give ten stars if possible! Echoing other reviewers, the location is breathtaking, the rooms are ideal & comfortable, and the breakfasts are delicious. At the end of each day, there was even a new treat waiting for us. In addition to the perfect place, Joan and Ross are the very best of the best as hosts. They are a wealth of local information for outings, restaurants, and the area in general. They knew what we needed before we did and were very accommodating. Their warmth and good humor made us feel like we were visiting dear friends. We highly recommended this if you are visiting Te Anau!

Superb room with views to die for. The owners who live in the other end of the house are very friendly and can’t do enough to make your stay a wonderful experience. There are two en-suite rooms in this architect designed property. Well away from the road and the town up a private 900 mtr. drive. Ross & Joan were excellent company and made us very welcome.

Our tour company organized our stay at Prospect Lodge. They knew we liked a good view. The view from our room was absolutely spectacular overlooking the lake. We had beautiful and comfortable beds and chairs. Lots of good space for our luggage. Everything was over the top. Including our hosts. Joan and Ross are so attentive to their guests with good recommendations for dinner spots, bike routes and lots of info on the region. The cows grazing beside the property along with the beautiful flowers in their gardens made our stay so very memorable! Thank you both! S & T

Myself and my husband went to stay in Prospect Lodge for 2 nights during a recent trip to New Zealand for our honeymoon. Before getting to Prospect Lodge we had been staying in hotels and so it was a wonderful change to stay in a B&B. This place is a couple of minutes drive outside of a lovely little place called Te Anau. From the moment we arrived Joan and Ross were very welcoming. They were kind and chilled and we instantly felt relaxed. The lodge itself is wonderful and the views from it are simply stunning. Joan makes a yummy breakfast so you won’t be leaving the place hungry. We would have loved to have gotten to stay even one more night if we could. Hopefully we can get back again in the future as this really was a wonderful little find in a lovely spot. Would highly recommend.

A wonderful experience combining luxurious accommodation, unsurpassed views of the lake and mountains and a warm welcome from hosts Joan and Ross (and their cattle). Te Anau has a lovely vibe and the Kepler Trail is on the doorstep for a day’s hike. Thank you!
