A delightful B and B situated on the edge of Te Anau. It was an easy walk to the centre of town. We stayed 2 nights the end of Feb. and had a large, bright, immaculate room with a garden view. We ordered our breakfast choices the evening before and it was ready the moment we appeared. Both laundry facilities and internet are available for guests. The friendly owners had good suggestions for tours and local restaurants. We were pleased we had booked well in advance, this is a busy B and B.

Nice comfortable place. Lindsay is friendly and makes hot breakfast upon request. There are many options for custom freshly prepared hot breakfast. Walking distance to town center. House is right across from the lake.

This B&B is now called the Te Anau Lakefront B&B.

The room we had (#4), was very spacious and had an excellent bathroom with a shower, all recently remodeled. Of the eight hotels and B&B's we stayed at on our trip (including two Hiltons and a Doubletree) this had the most storage for unpacking clothes. Limited drawer space seemed to be the rule, and this was the exception.

The breakfasts were also excellent. There was a choice of four entrees which you order the night before, and then there was also a buffet with many continental style options - breads, fruits, cereals, etc.

The only thing preventing me from giving it five stars is that the bedside lamps were very small and inadequate if you like to read in bed before going to sleep, and there were only a few basic channels on the TV. The TV was a smart tv with a Netflex app installed, but the internet speed was aparently too slow to support it, because it kept buffering and freezing up.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this B&B.

We spent 2 nights in Cat's Whiskers B&B and enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect - just a short walk to the lake, proximity to various walking routes & wildlife reserve, not far from town center. The room is spacious and comfortable, amazing views opening from the room to the lake. The bathroom is enormous. Nice garden. Lindsay and Janice were great hosts. Cooked breakfasts are very good - varied and very filling. Highly recomended.

My mum and I stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed The Cat's Whiskers. It's a great location - on the edge of town (but easy walking to restaurants) and right across from the lakeside park & Fjordland visitor centre. The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet (at the back of the house) with a lovely balcony & patio furniture - we were able to take advantage of this due to very good weather during our stay. Our hosts were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Very nice breakfasts (they'll happily cater anything from simple quick continental to full cooked), and our hosts were very flexible with timing e.g. for fitting into early-morning departures to Milford Sound cruises. A useful bonus too was a (coin-operated) washing machine & dryers for guest use on the premises; no need to go hunting for laundrettes. Overall an excellent experience and we would definitely recommend this B&B.

In all honesty, I booked this place because I love cats. My husband made fun of me up until the very moment when we arrived. We were so pleasantly surprised! We were greeted by Lucy the cat, a cute white dog and the owner Lindsay. Lindsay is very friendly and he makes an excellent breakfast in the morning. Our room overlooked the back patio, which was a great place to read a book on a sunny afternoon. Our room was very comfortable and the bed was huge. We slept so well in our room that we nearly missed breakfast the next morning. Lindsay allows visitors to use the washing machine and dryer which was a treasure after traveling for weeks. Lindsay recommended eating at "The Moose" down the street, which we did and enjoyed. We loved the Cats Whiskers and hope to come back someday!

This is a house (across from the Fjorlands National Park office) that was converted to a bed and breakfast. There were no staff there when we arrived; looked around the house and found an envelope for us with directions to our room and key.
We had the Superior Lakeview Room, which looked from photos that it had a view of the lake years ago but the trees are now overgrown and blocking the view of the lake. This room is also quite close to the street, but it was relatively quiet at night.
We needed to leave early in the morning to drive to Milford Sound for a 9am tour - before staff came in to make the cooked to order breakfast - but a staff came to speak to us briefly the night before and said we could help ourselves in the morning to the cold items that would be left out. We grabbed muffins, toast and yogurt for a quick meal. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious; and happy to find hair conditioner in the room.
Wifi connection worked well.
Price paid ($183NZ) for one night stay.

Cons: No staff to welcome, direct, answer questions. About one mile from all the restaurants (which we found to be quite expensive). Parking in the driveway is limited. Appeared to have a hot tub but wasn't open.

Of the three Te Anau B&Bs we stayed in, this was my favourite - probably because of the location. It's next to a park so there's lots of birdsong, and it's directly opposite the Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre which is worth a visit. The accommodation itself was very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was fabulous :-)

Great location and comfortable, wonderful home cooked breakfast. Our host was friendly and helpful. The pooch Ata was a sweet doll and well minded. The B & B was right across from the Park museum and the Lake. Perfect for a nice walk on the lake.

We thought this place was very homely. Janice made us very welcome and gave us some good information. The room overlooked the lake and was very clean and well presented. The breakfast was very good and the waffles were great. Thanks for the great stay Janice, wish we could have stayed longer.
