The room we had (#4), was very spacious and had an excellent bathroom with a shower, all recently remodeled. Of the eight hotels and B&B's we stayed at on our trip (including two Hiltons and a Doubletree) this had the most storage for unpacking clothes. Limited drawer space seemed to be the rule, and this was the exception.
The breakfasts were also excellent. There was a choice of four entrees which you order the night before, and then there was also a buffet with many continental style options - breads, fruits, cereals, etc.
The only thing preventing me from giving it five stars is that the bedside lamps were very small and inadequate if you like to read in bed before going to sleep, and there were only a few basic channels on the TV. The TV was a smart tv with a Netflex app installed, but the internet speed was aparently too slow to support it, because it kept buffering and freezing up.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this B&B.
We had the Superior Lakeview Room, which looked from photos that it had a view of the lake years ago but the trees are now overgrown and blocking the view of the lake. This room is also quite close to the street, but it was relatively quiet at night.
We needed to leave early in the morning to drive to Milford Sound for a 9am tour - before staff came in to make the cooked to order breakfast - but a staff came to speak to us briefly the night before and said we could help ourselves in the morning to the cold items that would be left out. We grabbed muffins, toast and yogurt for a quick meal. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious; and happy to find hair conditioner in the room.
Wifi connection worked well.
Price paid ($183NZ) for one night stay.
Cons: No staff to welcome, direct, answer questions. About one mile from all the restaurants (which we found to be quite expensive). Parking in the driveway is limited. Appeared to have a hot tub but wasn't open.
"The room met all of our expectations and would always go back to this place. The view overlooking the lake was great."Read full review
