I can't begin to say what a wonderful stay this was. Our hosts Lyn and Lex are the most welcoming hosts you could ask for. They sat and chatted with us about everything to do and all about the world. We would still be there talking if we didn't have to move on. The farm stay was terrific. Our cabin was right on the pasture and all the animals wanted to come and visit with us. They were such a delight to pet and just watch- so relaxing to sit on the porch and enjoy the atmosphere. The cabin is a complete little home- nothing missing. I even made a simple dinner in our kitchen. The bed is very comfortable and we so enjoyed Ben the cat spending his evening with us. Lex gave us a tour of the farm and his very cleverly re-imagined antique farm equipment. Lyn has the most beautiful gardens. They are obviously a labor of love. She also has a gorgeous home where she served a terrific breakfast. You could not ask for nicer hosts. Lyn even washed and folded some laundry for us. I would give 100 stars as the rating.

We stayed 2 nights while visiting the fiord land area. Lynn gave us great advice on what to see and where to eat. Breakfast was perfect especially the homemade bread. Greeted each morning by the family dog, cat and deer. Couldn't have asked for more.

The cabin was very comfortable, but we struck a cold front and weren't really prepared for the very cold weather but it didn't stop us from thoroughly enjoying our stay. The cabin was warm. Lyn and Lex were great hosts and put us in touch with a tour company that organized our trip to the Milford Sounds - the highlight of our South Island trip. We enjoyed hand feeding the deer, and the dog, then the cat come along for some loving as well. The farm is on the edge of Ben Loch and although we didn't get down to the water, we could see it from the cabin.

Occasionally you find a place that is not just good - it is fabulous, memorable and unforgettable. We were so pleased to find this B and B - the kind and welcoming owners placed us in a small cabin separate to their house - it had a simple bedroom, living room with kitchenette and separate shower room. All clean, neat and very comfortable. Best of all was the stunning view from the windows and from the decked terrace in front - wonderful. Also it was peaceful and very pretty. Yet all within about 4 or 5 minutes drive of the cebntre of Te Anau. Excellent and knowledgeable fishing guiding from the host is also an option. Highly recommended.

We loved our cosy, comfortable cabin with its fabulous outlook over fields, lake and mountains. Being surrounded on 3 sides by inquisitive deer and cattle was indeed a unique (and wonderful) experience though the tap tap of the antlers against the wall took some getting used to at first, we stopped noticing after a while. Lyn provided us with great advice and also the ingredients for a substantial continental breakfast, We especially appreciated the provision of fresh local berries. So delicious. We really enjoyed this warm and friendly farm stay.

This is a very late review as we went to NZ some 6 years ago, NOT March 2015 which is what i have had to enter. Just happened to be talking to a prospective traveller and recommended this place to them, which jogged my memory to leave this review. Very nice 4 night stay in the cabin. Had a day fishing with Lex and caught (my first time on a river) and enjoyed an outdoor lunch as well. Had breakfasts in the owners house and felt very welcomed and helped out with various trips as well. Enjoy.

An absolutely beautiful farm stay with a gracious hostess who is a wealth of good information about the area. Highly recommended. We stayed in the cabin which was very comfy and with lovely views. Friendly dog and lovely white deer added to the attraction. Great place...would return again.

3 nights towards the end of our month in New Zealand. Has to be the wettest 3 days ever but we were snug as peas in a pod in our little cabin next to the deer, sheep and cows. Lyn and Lex were fab hosts and took us to find the new born fawn in the fields. Groomed the horse, adopted the cat, fed the deer and drank tea on the veranda with amazing misty views of snow capped mountains. Breakfast was yum with home baked bread and at an early hour to accommodate our trip to Doubtful sound. Really delightful people( make sure you see the rabbiters hut) Thankyou

The owners Lex and Lynn were really great and made us feel completely at home talking about their family, ours, where to go in the area, where best to eat, etc. We stayed in the cabin and as others have commented by today's standards it is a bit basic. But it was adequate and as was mentioned when we were there it would cost to more to rent if it was revamped. And any short-comings in the cabin were more than made up by the breakfast (we had to stop Lynn feeding us!) and the fact that 'tame-ish' deer, cattle and a horse were just outside the cabin and of course Meg the dog and Ben the cat just added to it!!

My husband and I stayed in the Cabin for 3 nights. The cabin is only basic but provides a lovely quiet spot to get away. The cabin consists of a kitchen/lounge room, a separate bedroom, and bathroom. It got quite cold and the kitchen is only simple, but it is neat and clean with blankets and heaters to rug up with. The location was good fun - deer, sheep, cows and Mickey the horse right outside your door - plus visits from Meg the dog and Ben the cat. Lyn put on a lovely breakfast and had useful information about the town, plus helpfully accommodated our luggage for one night while we were on an overnight Doubtful Sound cruise. If looking for something a bit different from another Main Street Motel, then this is a good farm stay experience.
