Just an absolute homely oasis. Truly feels like a home away from home. I can’t believe how COMFORTABLE I felt while staying here- the whole place has such a warm energy to it. I didn’t get to meet Rosie as she was away hiking but got to meet her partner who was just lovely. He even helped me fix my tent and did a stellar job. The worst part about staying here is having to leave 😭 yes it’s about a 15 minute walk from town, but it’s flat and easy going and WORTH IT. I’ve stayed in Te Anau twice before at two other holiday parks closer to town and Rosie’s takes the cake easily.

Outstanding home feeling environment and super friendly host. Wish could have given 6/5. House Located a bit far away from the town or the lake but also away from noises. Do have a decent and turned piano for someone wants to play

Thanks Lei, Your piano playing helped to make the piano sing for sure and it is the perfect time of year to visit with great weather. But in saying that each season has its highlights.

What a lovely place. Rosie makes you feel as if you are part of the family. The homestay is spotless and the facilities excellent. The living room area was comfortable and warm, and an excellent meeting place. Rosie facilitated a communal meal, where everybody cooked their own speciality. We all had a wonderful feast. We obtained masses of accurate information about the area and its attractions. Thoroughly recommended

Many thanks for the review - we totally enjoyed our night also with time over a meal to enjoy everyone's company. The food was great too.

Rosie's was great. Accommodations excellent, even better than our high expectations. Rosie and Alistar went above and beyond helping with most every special request from checking the weather for a side trip to Stewart Island to providing guidance and directions for an off the beaten track drive to Walter Peak. Highly recommended.

Stayed at Rosie's homestay for 2 nights and it was awesome. Comfortable room with heater. Spacious bathroom and good hot shower. Cozy living room, cute kitchen and dining area. There are car parks at the front. The location is quiet, calm and just 6mins drive to town centre. Rosie is very friendly and welcoming. We had some good chat about NZ and Malaysia ( where we come from ) She even shared some of her cooking and tips with us. Other guests were also very polite. In short we love this place and definitely recommend this homestay to anyone that plans a trip to Te Anau.

Thanks so much for your great comments about staying with us. The bonus of having guests stay is the variety of countries people come from and the enjoyment of conversation generally.

Rosie's Backpackers is so cosy and felt like a home away from home. My partner and I stayed for a few weeks and it was the perfect place to do so! Rosie's garden is stocked with herbs and she makes sourdough bread which we were lucky enough to taste in the mornings. Kitchen is clean and well stocked, and is big enough even with a full house. The bathrooms are good, all very clean and tidy. There are plenty of spaces to socialise or to have some quiet time alone. Piano and guitar were played by other guests which was really nice. It's such a homely place, highly recommended!

We arrived after a long journey to a warm welcome from Rosie. Their place is very much their home and yours for the duration of your stay. It is some 20 mins walk from the centre so a car is useful but not essential. Rosie bakes fabulous sour dough bread which she leaves out for breakfast. Rooms were very clean and she was helpful in recommending walks and restaurants. Stay there if you are in the area.

This is down as a hostel - which is crazy because it is a lovely family home with some extra rooms they rent out! Brilliant stay and a really welcoming couple - would definitely go back! We were also lucky enough to try some of Rosie's homemade bread, yummy!

Rosie's homestay is a lovely place to stay in Te Anau. Everything is very clean and the shower was amazing. The kitchen had a lot of equipement because Rosie and her hisband share it with the backpackers. The welcome of the couple was very warm and they are very nice people.
