Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a fabulous B&B - the rooms are large, have great views and you can walk out directly on to the nice lawn and front porch. Bathrooms are also great. The breakfast is also more than adequate. Located a little bit away from town but one can walk to the centre when the weather is good.

We had a excellent experience during a two day visit with our stay at Loch Sloy B&B. Neat, clean and spacy room with a relaxed and wide view over Te Anau country and lake, awesome! And foremost, excellent and very nice hosts Dan and Alison. Great place for a base if you are visiting the Sounds. Thanks for everything :-) Sandra and Ivo from the Nederlands.

Based at the rim of Te Anau, the accommodation offers great views on the lake and surrounding mountains. They have 2 spacious guest rooms, one with a double and one with a double and single bed. Both have large bathrooms and have access to the porch with chairs. Next to the guest rooms there's also a guest lounge where you can relax, read, watch tv and meet the other guests. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, offering regular continental breakfast and egg/bacon as desired.

A very recommendable B&B. Situated about 2 km from the centre of Te Anau. Very calm location, near the Lake of Te Anau. Spacious, clean, and comfortable rooms. Very friendly hosts. A well situated B&B to start from there daytrips to the fjords Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound, not to miss! Goed breakfast. Maybe a bit expensive, as a a lot lot of prices are becomibg in NZ, when compared to European prices.

We were a little disappointed with our accommodation, the two rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious but we had to share a bathroom which was across the hall that would have been OK however, the bedrooms were on the same side of the house that the owners bedroom was so it felt a little too close it felt like you were staying in a strangers house. Also to access the bedrooms we had to walk through the owners private lounge/kitchen which obviously meant at night walking in on them eating dinner, it just felt awkward. Breakfast was very basic cereal and toast, no protein to fill us up. The owners were away so maybe it would have been different had they been there. The stand in hosts were very pleasant and welcoming. The accommodation had amazing views was very quiet although a little out of the town which meant you had to drive everywhere. It would have been handy to have had a bin in the bedroom.

Hi there Thank you for your comments. I think it should be noted that when your agent booked this accommodation, she was made well aware that both our ensuite rooms were booked. I told her of these other 2 rooms, with a large separate spa bathroom across the hallway. I reiterated that this bathroom was for the exclusive use of her clients. At the time of booking your agent was more than happy with these arrangements. We also offer a full continental style breakfast. This comprises of 3 different cereals (also with a gluten free option, 2 varities of fruit, toast and spreads, yoghurt, tea coffee juice and/or hot water. I am sorry that you were disappointed with our accommodation, and maybe you should check these details when you book through an agent. Kind regards Alison

We spent two days at the Loch Sloy B&B while visiting Te Anau. Our hosts, Allison and Don were extremely helpful in providing local information. They coordinated an overnight boat trip to Doubtful Sound for the four of us. The rooms, both ensuite, were spacious, clean and quiet. The B & B is slightly out of town and pastoral. Overall rating is excellent.

our hosts do honor to the activity of the B&Bs. This place has nothing to envy to refined hotels, as it has all the qualities you would look for in such occasions. The warmth of the welcome was great, the breakfast delicious, the happy hour wine succulent and generally everything so exquisite. the rooms are spacious and luxurious. the surroundings stunning with turquoise water surrounding you. you feel you never want to go back to the grey and busy cities you live in. Thank you so much for making our stay memorable. yumna & jean-christophe

We could not have been happier with our stay at Loch Sloy. The views of the mountain and lake from the room were breath taking. Very close to central town and good location for launching to Milford and Doubtful Sound. Don and Allison were most helpful in recommending things to do and provided us with great living quarters and amenities. The breakfast was also very good. Recommend the boat trip out to see the glow worms in a nearby cave. Swimming in the lake was a bit chilly but definitely worth it. We are true dog lovers and enjoyed the company of all 3 dogs. However, for those who are averse to pets or allergic to dogs, you might want to reconsider this location.

This B&B is Fab! Fantastic view, host, room and food. We stayed for three nights with a 10 year old. It's a great base to explore the area from and much closer to beautiful Milford Sound than Queenstown. Their dog is adorable and never barked or was a nuisance.
