We stayed for two nights as part of a self drive around New Zealand. Sarah and John made us feel very welcome and provided some great recommendations and advice about the local area.

The three bedrooms used by guests are immaculately presented, a beautifully comfortable bed and a spacious and comfortable lounge for guests to enjoy. The views across the surrounding grounds to the lake are stunning at any time of day.

Breakfast was provided and was a very good range of options, freshly prepared and beautifully presented. A truly special place to stay

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our NZ touring holiday. High Leys is a luxurious B&B lodge, in a quiet location a short drive out of the main town, with amazing views and very kind hosts.
We stayed in the Takitimu room which is a queen room, a little cheaper (& smaller) than the other two king rooms. Everywhere is furnished to the highest luxurious standards you could imagine. The residents lounge and dining room has the most amazing views - I could have sat there day! There is even a piano for guests use !
We had a very early tour booked one morning of our stay and I was overwhelmed that Sarah got up at 5am to prepare our packed lunches (additional charge applies) and take out breakfast boxes for the trip. That was way over and above our expectations but shows what a high standard of service is offered here.
The next morning we were able to lay in and enjoy Sarahs breakfast in the dining room - wow! Fabulous choices, cooked to order and absolutely delicious. Sarah also enjoys home baking and if viennese whirls are on the table when you visit, don't hesitate to sample one.
Thank you both for a marvellous stay, which I would also add was very competively priced when compared to other places we stayed on our trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at High Leys Lodge. This was a wonderful boutique and luxurious B&B, with amazing sweeping views across the lake to the Murchison Mountains and surrounded by a beautiful manicured garden. The accommodation is modern, and very comfortable and well equipped.

High Leys was the perfect base for us to explore Fjordland National Park, Milford Sound and the glow worm caves. The location is just out of the main town, so it feels perfectly secluded and private. But it’s also only a few minutes drive away from local restaurants in Te Anau, which was very convenient for lunch and dinner.

Sarah and John are such wonderful people and made us feel right at home. They had plenty of local recommendations and ideas on things to do and see. The breakfasts provided by Sarah were also a highlight and the perfect start to each day. You pick from a menu of hot or cold breakfast options, it was really great having this variety. Sarah also provides small home baked goodies during the day which was a real treat. It’s these little details that make such a difference.

High Leys was one of our favourite stays in New Zealand, we would go back in a heartbeat!

Our stay at High Leys was delightful. The rooms were well appointed and very comfortable. The location, overlooking the lake with the mountains, is better than the pictures the property posts -- a rarity in this world of promotional photography.

As with most inns/lodges/B&Bs, the difference between good and great lies with the hosts. Here, the hosts were absolutely fabulous. They provided great advice and local recommendation and made facilitated enjoyable interactions among the guests with good humor and charm. I wholeheartedly recommend this location to any travelers in Te Anau.

Our 3 night stay at High Leys Lodge was the highlight of our 2 and a half week tour of NZ's South Island. Sarah and John hosted us impeccably and our accommodation was luxurious. We truly loved Sarah's wonderful breakfast offerings and the subsequent little treats left on the dining room table ! The stunning location of High Leys, surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens sloping down to beautiful Lake Te Anau will be forever etched in our memories . We've travelled to 90 different countries around the world and our experience at High Leys Lodge definitely rates as one of the most unforgettable !

This is a beautiful lodge and was an extremely comfortable stay for the whole family including elderly parents who struggle in some accommodations. Thank you Sarah and John for making this a special time for our family. You're both very welcoming and your home is maintained to very high standards in a beautiful part of New Zealand.

Stunning property, inside out. Lovey room, large common area decorated with artistic taste, view on the lake and huge garden that challenges Monet's!
Great location to visit the fyords. Great hosts that do everything, I mean really everything (like spending lots of time to organize our excursions) to make us feel like close friends. We never been pampered like this before! Thank you so much Ann and John.

Beautiful spot right right on Lake Te Anau. Gorgeous views from our room overlooking lake and surrounding mountains. It was quiet and serene whether sitting on the terrace or in the living room.

Room was nicely appointed with a comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Sarah and John couldn not have been friendlier or more helpful, providing recommendations for restaurants and local sightseeing. The breakfast was terrific with a choice of several dishes. Highly recommend.

On our 6 weeks NZL Trip High Leys Lodge will loom large as the best place we were lucky enough to stay in. And we stayed in some wonderful places! The location, facilities and provisions were second to none. To top it off, the welcome and service from Sarah was next level. We felt that she knew all our wishes before and was reading our wishes out if our mind ! TeAnau itself is a stunning location - and sadly, we only had three nights there - but it was the hospitality of John and Sarah that has made us resolute that we will return...
even how Jihn looks for his „little“ garden and presenting us a little paradise ! We should not forget the view and the georgous terrace….even though we are from Germany a good nearly 24 hours away via a couple of flights and a drive! But this place is that special to come back - just because I totally forgot to tune the guitar 🎸

Hi Alex Gl The South Arm room and the Luxmore rooms are both on the front of the house which will give you extensive views over Lake Te Anau. The South Arm room has its own walk in wardrobe space and is ideal if you have a lot of luggage as this means you can store it here and keep the rest of the room space free. The Luxmore room has more actual bedroom floor space as it has a wardrobe with luggage rack. It is also on the corner of the house and so has the front terrace and a large side window. The Takatimu room is the smallest, has a queen bed and faces the garden. Hope this helps with making your decision Kind regards Sarah
