Detailed Reviews
We absolutely loved this little gem of a BnB. The host is so welcoming and the place is clean, comfortable and very well presented. The spa was fantastic on a cold afternoon. Breakfast the next day was divine. Overall just a perfect stay and we can definitely recommend to anyone looking for lovely accommodation out of Queenstown.

Stayed here a couple of nights and enjoyed the hospitality of the owners and the good breakfasts. Wish we had time to try the bikes! Located about 15 minutes' drive to Queenstown, but very convenient to tour Arrowtown, wineries, bungee jumping bridge. Was nice to meet fellow travelers and the owners were very hospitable.

Jasmine and Kevin were lovely hosts. Kevin cooks a great breakfast. We were in the Cattleya Suite which has great views and is very large and comfortable. Nice spa pool.on the deck. Right by lake Hayes and short walk to Amisfield if you want to splash out on lunch or dinner. 15 minutes drive to airport. Not far from Arrowtown and 20 - 30 minutes drive to Queenstown. Had a great stay.

Looked great from outside. Room was very small and the noise from the quite busy road coupled with the uncomfortable bed gave a disturbed sleep. Breakfast was ok. I wouldn't have classed it as luxury.

The setting across the road at Lake Hayes is beautiful, the gardens and deck well maintained. Rooms were spotless, beds comfy.
The outdoor spa would have been a great spot to relax in the evening. Unfortunately when we wanted to jump in we discovered that the tub was full of mosquitoes and other dead bugs :-( We decided to abandon the plan and use the indoor spa instead. I could have pointed the problem out to the owner that very night but decided against it as I was already quite late. However, I feel that at this price range, guests should not have to make the host aware that the tub water is dirty.
Breakfasts were tasty but not as extraordinary as they looked on the website. Given that there is fantastic food in numerous places in Queenstown, I was a bit disappointed by that.
The owners were very friendly and the lodge is an excellent place directly out of town to explore the scenary.
The lodge offers free mountain bikes for guest which I thought was a great idea. There are numerous cycle tracks around the area. If you're an ambitious cyclist, I would still recommend you bring your own bike, as the bicycles provided are okay for flat rides but even on the easy ride around lake hayes, I had trouble with swichting gears several times and my partner had her chain slip 4 times in an hour. (It was still a nice ride though!) Just keep in mind that if you're planning a longer bike trip you might be better off with your own bike.
Given that this is the highest price I've ever paid for staying anywhere in the Queenstown area, I would have expected a little more to make it a perfect holiday experience. It is still a decent place to stay with very nice hosts.

Enjoyed a wonderful stay at this truely gorgeous place. It is made personable by the friendly couple that have made no shortcuts in offering the very best for their customers. We stayed 3 nights and wished it could have been longer. The room is spotless the bathroom immaculate. The view from the dining room takes your breath away. The breakfast provided was incredible and started the day in the best way possible. We had the opportunity to relax every evening in the spa while watching the sun sink into Lake Hayes which was a magical experience. The finishing touch in gifting us a bottle of wine to celebrate our wedding anniversary was extremely kind and thoughtful. We cant wait to book another holiday at our new found favourite place of all.

Luxury certainly describes the bedroom - large comfortable bed, tasteful furnishings, extensive bathroom including a spa bath and copious hanging/storage space. Fridge and safe - in fact everything expected in a 'luxury' bedroom. But the breakfast can only be considered basic at best - do-it-yourself communal bowl of fresh fruit, choice of hot breakfast, 2 slices of toast with plastic portions of butter and preserves. Tea was a mug of hot water with a tea bag! Finally, the CCTV was slightly intimidating and hospitality was very impersonal with the owners living out.

The owners were very pleasant and helpful but unfortunately our room had a very poor view of a scrubby piece of wasteland littered with sheds and rubbish.... a net curtain on the window would have been good as people walking past could see straight in the room.
The breakfast, though plentiful was very average with little variety for an establishment purporting to be high end. Also there was a hot tub on the patio in a very strange place as it blocked the door to the patio...... can’t imagine using it. Don’t know why they couldn’t have put it in the garden.
Overall not worth the money we paid..... but it was high summer and demand high in the area.

Stayed at The Shan’s w/ my travel buddy, exceptional view of lake Hayes. The room was of a good size & comfortable beddings. Breakfast was very delicious n portion is big. Jazmine, the lady owner is very friendly n gave good advice of where to eat, drink n visit. She’s very friendly and amicable. In front of the house is lake Hayes walkway/Park tried it n the 2 hours walk around the lake is very pleasant. Would definitely come back when I next visit this area
