Detailed Reviews
. Excellent location- less than a minute from intercity stop, less than 2 min from Queenstown Orbus stop, ISITE. The pods have curtains, each one is quite spacious and it felt as though I was in my own private space. Very comfortable mattress. Bunk beds set in strong wooden frames, thus not squeaky at all. Room doors don't make noise when opened so there is no disturbance to others in room. Charging points within the pod. Locker close to bed. Storage rooms are locked, which keeps stuff there secure. Rooms lock automatically when closed, adding to security. Excellent breakfast, coffee with milk powder available throughout, the veg soup in the evenings was a thoughtful addition in the evenings. Very clean facilities. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Friendly, helpful staff. Optional breakfast provided, on my stay was waffles with syrup. I appreciated the bathroom sink/toilet room was accessible without having to use a key. So won't get locked-out at night by accident! Shower rooms located just outside the sleeping pod rooms. Pod beds are nice size with shelf at bed head for personal belongings. And of course a great central location in Queenstown.

The room was warm, and the double pod bed was very comfortable, but the room was much smaller than it looked in the picture. Only place I have seen double dorm beds though so that was really great. Not really enough toilets/showers for the place either. It also said there was free soup for dinner and free waffles for breakfast which there wasn't - very disappointing and misleading. The kitchen was very nice and clean and well stocked with everything you need. Good location at the top of town and a small free carpark - also very close to a lot of other free parking which was ideal compared to other hostels in Queenstown. The staff that greeted us at reception was also very friendly. Overall a pretty good place to stay.

Room Tip: The double pod bed is really nice to book for couples staying in hostels.

Tahuna is the only hostel to stay at while visiting Queenstown and surrounding areas. Holly and her professional team provide clean rooms with comfortable pod beds, each with their own phone and power sockets. The bathrooms, kitchen and lounge areas were kept clean and tidy throughout our 3 x night stay.
Thanks Tahuna for providing great accommodation 1min walk from town, and for the loan of a car to visit Arrowtown! I thoroughly recommend anyone wanting to visit Tahuna Pod Hostel enough and look forward to staying there again.

Tahuna Pod Hostel is a very clean, cozy backpackers right by downtown Queenstown. The lounge has lots of tables and games, movies with a big screen tv, and a gorgeous balcony. The kitchen has tons of prep and cooking space. The private double room was ultra comfortable, with a heater, a tv with Netflix, a full length mirror, hangers, and a bed I wanted to melt into. The bathrooms were close by and very clean. The only thing that spoiled our visit is that the people staying did not adhere to the dry hostel after 10pm policy. They partied in the lounge, which was just under our room and we could hear them until the wee hours of the morning, even through earplugs and with the tv on to try to drown them out. So, if you're someone who'd be out partying, this is a great place and I'd totally recommend it, but if you're wanting an early night, maybe look elsewhere.

I was a little sceptical of this place because most hostels aren't of the "pod" variety, but I was very impressed with my stay here. The pod gives you a nice amount of privacy. The communal areas are clean and tidy. The free soup for dinner was nice and the waffles for breakfast was a great idea, if a little messy. The communal area was great and had board games and a TV with netflix to keep you entertained. The balcony was really nice and sheltered from the wind. Very nice stay.

The place is very clean and cozy, it has a large kitchen with many implements to cook comfortably. It has plenty of toilets and showers, and they are always clean. During our stay we met some guests and part of the staff, all very friendly and willing to help. It is very close to the center of Queenstown, so it is very easy to walk or by bus to any place in the city, and it also has parking. I would definitely stay here again.

The double room had an amazing bed, great heater, and we appreciated the small touches like the mirror and hanger- however- I don’t think anyone adhered to the dry hostel after 10pm rule. Despite all of the doors and levels, the lounge and kitchen was full of LOUD people drinking until early hours of the morning that we could hear through earplugs and the tv on for white noise on the top level. After a full day of adventuring this was not the place for us to have a restful nights sleep, although the facility itself is very nice!

I really can't deny the fact that this is the cleanest hostel in all the hostels I stayed. They clean the hostel 3x a day including vacuuming. The pods are really comfortable with the perfect blackout curtains and with charging ports and electric plugs. Bonus is the parking space at the back of the hostel, I just left my car there while wandering in town. Will be back sometime!

Tahuna pod hostel is near all the shops and restaurants in Queenstown. The room has wide beds and it comes with a heater for the cold months. Short ride to Coronet peak if you are heading to the slopes.

The dorms are all mixed dorms so men and women in the same rooms. However the pods are enclosed with a curtain so they provide more privacy than a standard bunk bed.
Kind regards Issy
Kia ora Terry, thanks for your enquiry!
We can most certainly get you booked up for ski passes, transport, equipment and clothing right here at reception. Just chat to us when you arrive!
Yes we do have a drying room for clothes, boots and a ski/board locker to store your equipment too!
All transfers to mountains are really close to the hostel, a 2-3 minute walk :)
We look forward to meeting you in July
Kind regards
