Peppers Beacon Queenstown offers a mixed experience, according to guest feedback. While the location is frequently applauded for its proximity to the town center and scenic lakefront, opinions on the rooms vary, with some guests enjoying the comfort and views but many finding them outdated and lacking in modern touches. Cleanliness is generally satisfactory, yet some guests have encountered housekeeping inconsistencies.
Service quality also seems to fluctuate, with reports of both professionalism and disorganization. Despite the appreciated views and spacious atmosphere, travelers often question the value, pointing out the high cost relative to the amenities and overall experience.

To be honest the views from the room we stayed was absolutely stunning.
Room service was not upto the mark for a 4 star hotel, we had to ask for new towels which were not changed everyday, vacuuming wasn't done either and had to be requested to be done. This was the biggest let down for us as we stayed here for a few days. Front Staff, we felt they were there just to do a job, no service with a smile experience, information on house keeping was not consistence one said something the other said something else which was quite confusing when we asked about house keeping, so bear in mind if your gonna stay here coz it costs a lot for a night and if your gonna stay for a few days something to consider.
Bathroom and toilet was good in terms of heated tiles and a spa.
Furniture in the room was outdated (old and run down), carpet was stained in many places and run down actually, our window curtain was torn as well on one window and the sofa was not not very clean either. The beds and sheets were good as well as the walking wardrobe/storage area
Kitchen was topped up daily and well stacked with what you need in terms of utensils and cutlery.
A bit of feedback for management would be to include instructions on the welcome letter or the front desk desk to give some guidance/information mentioning about the washer and dryer facilities (which floors - had to find this out by asking people around working) / electrical outlets in the room was confusing and with the dishwasher we had to figure this out ourselves which was not a big deal but would have been helpful.

Amazing views. Spacious comfortable 2 bedroom apartment ( both bedrooms had en suites) with floor-to-ceiling glass windows along the entire front part overlooking the mountain side. Well appointed with a fireplace, full kitchen, washer & dryer. Just across the road from the lake & a flat, 5 minute walk to everything. Good breakfast. Friendly efficient staff everywhere. We stayed with 2 grandchildren aged 6 & 4 & there was ample space for them to spread their toys and play. TVs in all the rooms , heat pump + extra heaters. Only negatives in the apartment were not many options in the bathrooms to hang clothes or towels, no proper powerful exhaust fan ( there was a sign saying to close the door while showering/bathing or the steam may set off the fire alarm!) & a heated towel rail would’ve been a necessity I’d have thought in Queenstown. House-keeping was a bit of a hit-and-miss with different teams at work. One of the teams with two friendly girls was very efficient at re-stocking & making the beds tight & smooth, tidying up etc. The other always didn’t restock, just emptied the bins and made the beds rather loosely. But overall we had a great stay , were warm & comfortable & found the location excellent.

The location is excellent, a short walk to the centre of town. We booked a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom apartment and we ended up with a 2 bedroom apartment with an adjoining hotel room which was perfect for our group of 5 (2 couples and 1 single). Great views. The beds are comfortable and the showers and towels great. I like they have pump packs of shampoo etc rather than single use plastics. Nespresso machine is a nice extra and our room also has a washer and dryer which was good. On the downside, the furniture is quite dated and the place needs a thorough renovation. On check in, having booked 3 king sized beds I was surprised to see two single beds in one of the rooms. I asked reception if they could please rectify this. They responded saying they had been trying to contact me to confirm bedding configuration (I had no missed calls, no emails etc), and that they could do it but they would charge $40. They agreed to waive this charge when I showed them my confirmation email stating 3 king size beds. The car parking is $24 per night which is a bit of a rort but to be fair they did say if you move the car to the street before 11pm they wouldn't charge this. The balcony is massive and needs new furniture a good clean. It could also benefit from the addition of a hot tub (there is plenty of room). Some rooms seem to have hot tubs ad others do not. Overall a great stay and good value also.

2 stays of 6 and 3 nights with a few days in between. A 2-bedroom apartment reserved for each stay.
The apartments and rooms have a superb view of the lake and the mountains, especially from the 10th floor where we were. The apartments have a large terrace. The apartment is luxurious, with a gas fireplace and the shower room floors are heated (very pleasant). Well-equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer, iron and ironing board. No safe.
Building construction work is underway across the street, behind the residence at the apartments on the 10th and 11th floors, which is annoying because from 7:00 in the morning the large construction machines make noise. The residence could have had the courtesy to warn of work in progress given the price asked, so that travelers wishing to rest could plan a stay elsewhere.
1st stay in apartment 1006 which is in fact a one-bedroom apartment to which room 1007 is added. The layout is not suitable for a family with young children because the door which separates the main apartment from the additional bedroom is equipped of a bellboy who keeps the door closed at all times. We had to block the door with the means at hand so that the children were not locked in their room at night (photo). The mini refrigerator in room 1007 had not been cleaned, and was not cleaned during the entire stay (photos) despite daily cleaning. Same thing for dead insects caught in spider webs above the window (photo). Apartment with unmaintained furniture: difficulty closing certain doors of the kitchen furniture, systematic opening of the trash drawer when you open the dishwasher because the drawer is not adjusted, worn table which needs maintenance. Room 1007 is directly on the hallway opposite the elevators, so it is noisy. In addition, the light from the hallway comes in through the peephole at night. The one in this bedroom is no longer equipped with a lock unlike the one on the main door of the apartment (photos). In the shower room, the shower no longer closes since the sliding door has been removed, you have to be careful not to get water everywhere. The clothes closets are of insufficient size for stays of several days.
2nd stay: Apartment 1010 which is a real 2 bedroom apartment. Much better, but no heating in the 2nd bedroom. Housekeeping was never done during the 3 day stay and the leather sofas are very worn.
The master bedrooms of the 2 apartments are attic via the staircase which leads to the upper floor. When the people who occupied the apartment above returned late at night, the sound of footsteps on the stairs was heard above the bed and woke the occupants. A door adjoins the entrance to the apartments above and, each time, the people who occupied these apartments tried to open the door. We don't really have the feeling of being at home.
The breakfast is excellent (3 night stay) and the room staff are very welcoming, competent and dynamic.
The quality/price ratio is ultimately disappointing given the layout of the apartments and the lack of general maintenance of the equipment.

Great location and friendly staff. Breakfast variety was good and had your usual hot breakfast stuff, toast, pastries, cereal, cold salmon and cheese/crackers/relishes.
The parking is VERY tight and is first in first serve basis, we were told we could park on the street too. Street parking is hard to get due to location. Our room had a very foul smell, almost like someone had an accident in there that hasn't been cleaned well, or there is some water collecting/mould. Hard to pinpoint what it was or where it came from. It was also a mission trying to get the room cleaned (you have to call to request it) e.g. overflowing bin emptied, clean cups etc. As there is no kitchenette in the room we stayed in, make sure you don't rely on a microwave and bring extra cutlery and paper plates if you plan on making sandwiches etc or making them to take on hikes.
I do hope the room cleaning continues well after people check out, as we found our toilet roll wasn't stocked up and when we requested it we had to call up many times, and also because I got sick during our and would hate the next person in the room to get sick if it doesn't get cleaned well.
I understand there are staff shortages but coming into the room to clean and leaving half things undone doesn't add up if the staff member is already there.
This was our first time in Queenstown and a first holiday in a while, so we spent lots of money on a good hotel, but it seems we may have just paid for the location. We won't be returning.

We stayed here 3 years ago and have been trying to visit again but with Covid New Zealand shutdowns we have been cancelled 3 times. We couldn't wait to visit again and Vanessa in reservations was amazing in helping us to get the correct accommodation. Although this is a hotel our room was a self-contained apartment. Full kitchen with huge fridge, oven, cooktop, dishwasher and coffee machine. Also a washing machine and tumble dryer. The high point was the incredible balcony with an uninterrupted view of the lake and the mountains. With a table and chair we ate a number of meals outside on the balcony. The Hotel is situated across the road from the Lake and a 5 minute easy stroll into the town and marina. This was a huge selling point for us especially that now Queenstown centre is losing its streets to pedestrian malls so parking is limited and traffic slow. Being able to walk everywhere was great. We used Queenstown as a base and took day trips happy to return to our little home. The front desk ladies were so helpful. Of course there were a few little issues as Post Covid the hotel like everywhere else in New Zealand is short-staffed but the attentive staff overcame that. Lana - who helped me even before we arrived was fantastic as was Annilise and Molly. The hotel does not have a restaurant on site other than a breakfast option which offers 50% off breakfast but was ordinary. There is undercover parking which was useful. We were acknowledged as Accor Plus members and given 2 x free drinks vouchers being Silver members. We were also allowed a late checkout which was great. All in all we had a wonderful stay at Peppers Beacon and would happily return. The only reason I am not giving it a higher score is that the leather seating was a little tired and well worn. We were ok with it being that hotels have not had guests for awhile and refreshing furniture will take time but feel we needed to mention. The rooms are not serviced daily but you can request whenever you want your room cleaned and fresh towels, bath room amenities, dishwasher and washing machine powder are readily available.

Fantastic location and breath taking views. We had a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom unit on the third floor and it was spectacular. The gas heater was so lovely. Fully equipped kitchen came in very handy and the washing machine and dryer were used most days by us. Servicing the room was on request and the toiletries were in large dispensers which was better than single use small containers. It was a very easy stroll to the wharf and main part of town. We had the most wonderful stay, thank you.

I have already given the information via Peppers direct and Expedia review and the review received an automated response - exactly the same as the others that were dissatisfied. Very disappointed with our room (ground floor 108). We paid extra for a lake view room, but this room only gave an obstructed view - cars were always parked out front and difficult to see between the trees. Nothing like the advertised pictures, which were higher levels. Worse though, was that if the curtains were open anyone walking or driving past could see in. As there was no storage space (only 1 small hanging robe in the bedroom) we put clothing in the dining room buffet and on the table. Again, this meant keeping the curtains closed. Another concern was getting into and out of the shower. As a 55 year old with short legs, I literally had to climb into and out of a sloping bath. Very dangerous - a safety concern - as no non-slip mat provided. When we checked in, we asked for any other room, but we're informed that because we checked in so late (around 3pm - check in from 2pm) all other room had been taken. Basically told 'too bad. Don't pay for a lakeview, unless it is guaranteed to be 2nd floor or above and confirm what room you will be allocated. Certainly not impressed with the room or the service we received. Plenty of other apartments in Queenstown with stunning lake views.

We stayed for five nights in a two bedroom garden suite. The location of the hotel is fantastic and very central. However, the room is very run down with carpet peeling, light flickering and a dishwasher not working. The room also has natural light only from the front entry - neither bedroom had windows which prevented any airflow. The room also didn’t have laundry facilities which is strange for a two bedroom so they have two laundry rooms with two washing machines and dryers. It isn’t enough for the number of guests. I put on a massive load of washing only to come back and put in the dryer and someone had taken over both dryers (no washing baskets to carry your wet load through the hotel)
We also requested fresh towels and the bins to be emptied daily. This seemed rather confusing and we had to remind them each day. In the end we gave up.
The front staff and the manager all seemed lovely but it felt a bit disorganised and for over $500 a night, overpriced for the experience.
We were really looking forward to our stay at Peppers but will look at alternative accommodation for our next trip to Queenstown.

We stayed in a beautiful 2-bedroom apartment, very spacious and luxurious with amazing lake views. The location was great – right across the road from the lakefront and just a few minutes walk into the town center. There is parking on site however you do have to pay for it - $24/night. The apartment was very clean and tidy with a large living area and good kitchen. The internet connection was fast and we had a large selection of TV channels on SkyTV. The breakfast was great, standard NZ fare – fruits, cereals, hot dishes, etc. It was an amazing experience overall but you do pay for it – it was not a cheap stay. In any case, highly recommended for its great location and spectacular lake views.

I’m not aware of one inside the hotel parking, but there is an EV charging station a few blocks down, well within walking distance (drive along the lakefront road, towards the town, it will be on your left).
There are more places to choose from in the Queenstown area.
