My boyfriend and I stayed here as our first stop in NZ. Once we arrived we were amazed by the wonderful view of the Remarkables and lake Wakatipu. Parking was a breeze, just pull in and find a spot labelled for peppers guests and bobs-your-uncle. Checking in was easy and we were lucky enough to get a third floor room with a view that overlooked the above mentioned sights. Our room was perfect for the two of us and our 5 night stay, stocked with all the creature comforts. The only issue with this hotel/room was that we were placed in a room that adjoined another (it had a door that could be opened if the two parties in the rooms were together). THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE! The people staying in the room next to us were very noisy and you could hear everything, down to them blowing their noses and flushing their toilets, the rooms need more soundproofing for sure! Breakfast was included with our stay and it was nice, basic but nice. The location was amazing just a short walk along the water into the heart of town! We loved our time in Queenstown it was amazing! Peppers was great except our nightly struggle to fall asleep with our noisy neighbours.

First off I'll be very clear that the average score is for 1 main reason and that is the smoking policy. We booked online through a booking website and the property was advertised as 100% smoke free and this was and is backed up by the properties own website. We booked in good faith thinking that there wouldn't be anyone smoking so imagine our surprise when we were sitting on the deck and someone below was smoking.

We queried this and after a fair amount of discussion it appears that a small proportion of the apartments/rooms are privately owned and are not subject to Peppers rules (frankly I think this is ridiculous and all guests should abide by the same rules).

This happened twice which was horrible as the apartment itself was great and the view from the balcony was spectacular but we were unable to enjoy it as we would have been sitting there inhaling someone's second hand smoke.

The Reservations Manager, Vanessa, did handle the situation very well, offering to move us to another apartment but also determined that the apartment in question was not due to be rented for the rest of our stay.

If it wasn't for that I would have given Peppers an excellent rating, the location is fantastic, the staff amazing and the apartments large and well equipped and the view from our apartment on the 10th floor was stunning.

if you are going to stay it may pay to ask for a room away from those in private ownership or try your luck and hop you don't get any smokers if that would bother you.

Great location and friendly staff. Breakfast variety was good and had your usual hot breakfast stuff, toast, pastries, cereal, cold salmon and cheese/crackers/relishes.

The parking is VERY tight and is first in first serve basis, we were told we could park on the street too. Street parking is hard to get due to location. Our room had a very foul smell, almost like someone had an accident in there that hasn't been cleaned well, or there is some water collecting/mould. Hard to pinpoint what it was or where it came from. It was also a mission trying to get the room cleaned (you have to call to request it) e.g. overflowing bin emptied, clean cups etc. As there is no kitchenette in the room we stayed in, make sure you don't rely on a microwave and bring extra cutlery and paper plates if you plan on making sandwiches etc or making them to take on hikes.

I do hope the room cleaning continues well after people check out, as we found our toilet roll wasn't stocked up and when we requested it we had to call up many times, and also because I got sick during our and would hate the next person in the room to get sick if it doesn't get cleaned well.

I understand there are staff shortages but coming into the room to clean and leaving half things undone doesn't add up if the staff member is already there.

This was our first time in Queenstown and a first holiday in a while, so we spent lots of money on a good hotel, but it seems we may have just paid for the location. We won't be returning.

Door to balcony didn't work for most of our time there as it had dropped so bad that friction/scratching on the bottom frame prevented it from opening i manage to force it open with a lot of effort pic attached, this is something that should be checked every time a new guest comes in as guest pay for the views but can't enjoy them on the balcony if door doesn't work . Two days in a row sausages was uncooked and hash browns one other day was burnt and hard couldn't believe they would put this food out, cleaners were rude and didn't want to be there mind you we did come across one cleaner who was kind and professional just a shame these people need to understand the peoples room you are entering there are on holiday you need to be polite to them .... There isno spa only sauna even thoe at the time we booked they advertised spa..... i overheard Emma assistant manager and other manager make some inappropriate jokes towards my mother who couldn't speak properly due to have Alzheimer i thought it was absolutely disgusting and very unprofessional.... views were decent only if your on a higher level extremely expensive thoe.. would not come here again.

We stayed here 3 years ago and have been trying to visit again but with Covid New Zealand shutdowns we have been cancelled 3 times. We couldn't wait to visit again and Vanessa in reservations was amazing in helping us to get the correct accommodation. Although this is a hotel our room was a self-contained apartment. Full kitchen with huge fridge, oven, cooktop, dishwasher and coffee machine. Also a washing machine and tumble dryer. The high point was the incredible balcony with an uninterrupted view of the lake and the mountains. With a table and chair we ate a number of meals outside on the balcony. The Hotel is situated across the road from the Lake and a 5 minute easy stroll into the town and marina. This was a huge selling point for us especially that now Queenstown centre is losing its streets to pedestrian malls so parking is limited and traffic slow. Being able to walk everywhere was great. We used Queenstown as a base and took day trips happy to return to our little home. The front desk ladies were so helpful. Of course there were a few little issues as Post Covid the hotel like everywhere else in New Zealand is short-staffed but the attentive staff overcame that. Lana - who helped me even before we arrived was fantastic as was Annilise and Molly. The hotel does not have a restaurant on site other than a breakfast option which offers 50% off breakfast but was ordinary. There is undercover parking which was useful. We were acknowledged as Accor Plus members and given 2 x free drinks vouchers being Silver members. We were also allowed a late checkout which was great. All in all we had a wonderful stay at Peppers Beacon and would happily return. The only reason I am not giving it a higher score is that the leather seating was a little tired and well worn. We were ok with it being that hotels have not had guests for awhile and refreshing furniture will take time but feel we needed to mention. The rooms are not serviced daily but you can request whenever you want your room cleaned and fresh towels, bath room amenities, dishwasher and washing machine powder are readily available.

We stayed at the Peppers in Queenstown at the end of our road trip around the South Island. Whilst the location of the hotel is very good we were very displeased by the service especially given the $$$ we were paying for a two bedroom unit.

1. Firstly we requested an early check in at 12 pm which upon arrival were told was not possible and the room would be ready by the standard 2 pm check in time, when we got there at 4 pm the room was still on ready, and we did not get the room still close to 5 pm.
2. On the second day we left early travelling to Milford sounds only to arrive back in the evening to an uncleaned room, beds on made, rubbish not taken away, no clean towels.
Overall this was a very dissatisfying and disappointing stay, on our trip we stayed at the Peppers on Tekapo which was very good and have previously stayed at a number of Accor hotels but this was just appalling especially since the $$$$ per night we were paying. I would not recommend this hotel based on our experience.

This hotel does not live up to the Peppers reputation. The location is great, near the lake and town and the reception staff were great. But that's about where the good stuff ends.
On being shown to our room (2 bed garden suite) we were told that our room did not have outdoor furniture but all the rooms around it did and the description of the room indicated a garden setting. Then the smell when the door was opened! Smelt like old cooked onion - for the whole 3 nights we were there even though we asked if there was something the cleaners could do. The suite had no air conditioning at all and it was hot. I couldn't believe we were staying in a Peppers resort with a fan on a stand in each bedroom running through the night! The breakfast room was the most depressing breakfast room we've ever eaten in. Tucked away, no view, dark, tiny. The breakfast offering was average at best. And they wanted to charge extra for fried, poached eggs and omelettes. Even airport hotels in far away countries provide these for free these days! There was mould throughout the shower.
So overall I expected a lot more from this hotel being a Peppers....and it wasn't cheap!!

Great location, Wonderful Views however very disappointed about the cleanliness, of the whole property including our apartment. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment however it was a 3 bedroom apartment with the main bedroom locked off upstairs. The maintenance was terrible both inside & out which is a shame for such a great property & location. Well below Accors service delivery standards!!

The room was basic, but clean in a stunning location overlooking the lake. Biggest issue was the lack of servicing to the room. I understood there wouldnt be new sheets every day, but i stayed 5 nights and during that time no service was done to my room - so I had to ask for fresh towels after 2 days, and I had to run out of toilet paper to realise I also needed to ask for toilet paper. The bin was overflowing due to all the RAT tests we had to complete, and I wouldve expected every 2nd day some level of clean/check of the room for someone staying 5 nights. It felt very un-hotel like to run out of toilet paper, and to have to use a wet towel

Great location, fantastic views, good beds and bathroom. We were on the 10th floor and for 6 nights they didnt have the lift fixed so we had to walk 5 floors. Cleaners kept turning up after 5pm and were happy when we turned them away. No vacuuming. 3 star experience, not 5

I’m not aware of one inside the hotel parking, but there is an EV charging station a few blocks down, well within walking distance (drive along the lakefront road, towards the town, it will be on your left).
