What a tie up! Whoevers running this place must be kicking themselves because if everyone left 1 day earlier theyd have tonnes of perfect reviews! Its a good hostel, with brilliant reception staff, has a typical backpackers kitchen, generally good vibes, and is centred perfectly in the city.
Only downside is Friday night the music from the hostel nightclub is so loud it reaches 3 floors up and all the way to the back. Even with earplugs you still have trouble sleeping. Great reception staff apologised, but little they could do.
Overall very good experience, just on Saturdays join the party instead of going to bed - youll have the same amount of sleep!

Great location, staff were really friendly and the travel desk is great and the bathrooms are clean. Also there was a nice view from our room. There were opportunities to get vouchers for food and drinks for places around Queenstown. We had a few issues with the bed breaking, our doors not working and being checked into a room with only one bed, when we needed two. Also there were 3 plug sockets for an eight bed room which was a bit difficult. Overall decent backpackers accommodation :)

Hostel is in the centre of Queenstown which is good, but the impression might be hindered by discotheque at the ground floor. You can expect the noise till morning hours. Rooms are designed for 8 people with own bathroom and toilet. Breakfast is included but the choice is very limited.

Stayed here for 4 nights beginning 26Jan 20. And I can definitely say that this is the most happening place in town and the most central hostel.If you are on a budget, would recommend you to stay at The 4 bedded room with ensuite bathroom. This is really spacious and allows you extra comfort and space to move around. The staffs are excellent and always ready to help. They provide free breakfast but I never had the chance to have one since I would leave very early for my sight seeing and other adventure activities. They are strict about check in time which starts at 2pm. If you are arriving early then you can leave your luggage at the left luggage area in the ground floor. I stayed in room 202 on the 2nd floor, first night shared it with 2 german ane an Irish boy and later with 3 Brazilian girls. They all were very friendly and made my stay very pleasant. I can say that the quality of guests staying at the base is definitely very classy even though on a budget. I would definitely stay in base whenever I am visit queenstown in future. I stayed at this place for one night and it was horrible. First it was NZ$30 a night way over priced. The bed are uncomfortable and any movement makes lots of noise and the whole bed rocks meaning you will be woken up multiple times. The bar below doesn’t stop playing music till 4 in the morning and it’s loud so that makes it even harder to sleep. The kitchen is a mess . If I was you I would spend an extra NZ$5 and stay at JUCY snooze or another hostle

I stayed at base queenstown for 5 nights. One day I walked in and a guy from the reception came up to me and said that he could give away a free kayak trip in Australia cause the girls from the pub crawl who one the price wouldnt go to Aus so he could give it to someone else. The next day I came to the reception to talk about the price as he asked me to. Before I knew what was happening he starts to try to sell me all different kinda activities in Australia instead of talking about the pub crawl price. If I booked with them I could get the free kayak trip so it wasn't a real price of the pub crawl he could give away. From my side it was a little naive to think they could but I also think this is a weird way of selling activities as a hostel.

Stayed here over the weekend in lockdown level 2. Did have a great experience, the accomodation rates are the lowest compared to the other hostels in town. Besides that almost all the dorms do have their own bathrooms with toilet and shower. I stayed in a 6-shared ensuite dorm and the mattresses are comfi! Reception staff was very helpful with giving me the information about all the activities in town. Bungee and Skydives are very cheap at the moment compared to summer prizes! To open to door of my room I needed to download an app, very advanced with 1 press on my phone the door was open! When my phone was dead, it was not a problem because they have luckily 24/7 reception. The bar next door is the cheapest in town they said and I can recommend the burrito + drink deal!

After 6 weeks of lockdown spent bored inside we wanted to go on a road trip of NZ to see the sights and get some well deserved time in the outdoors. We didnt have a car so wasnt sure how to make this possible. Fortunately the guy on reception, Seb, was a superstar and sorted us an amazing deal for a Jucy camper van in which we had the best road trip around the New Zealand south island for a surprisingly cheap cost. He also responded to us within a few hours of emailing in the middle of our trip when we asked to book an extension on the van to have longer to travel around and sorted us an excellent rate again. Thank you for your help buddy would definitely recommend booking through happy travels 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Would not recommend this place. There were toe clippings left all over the floor on arrival and the room smelt musty and dirty. Only positive is bed was comfy but not sleep was to be had due to bar outside playing very loud music ALL night. I will not be back here

So with the shared bathroom it’s next door to your room. And the toilet and bathroom and shower are separate rooms and yes there’s doors. Have a fear stay
Hi Richard, in the 4 bed dorm there is no under bed storage as these are no longer bunk rooms. We have a luggage storage at reception or there in ample space in the room for your ski bag, just no locker. The lockers in our dorm rooms wouldnt be long enough to fit them either. We also have a dry room, which is perfect for your boots and jackets/gloves etc :)
