The first thing that impressed me when I walked into my Spire suite, was its size. These days, many hotels use the term “suite” for rooms that contain a bed and a chair, but not so with Spire. The entry way leads to a closet and storage area for suitcases. The roomy bathroom has two sinks, a shower, and a tub. There were plenty of lights. I enjoyed that one set of lights was near the floor, which was perfect for night. Unlike a lot of hotel bathrooms, the location and number of hooks and towel racks was perfect.

The main area of the suite has a king size bed and a living room area with a couch, fireplace, speaker system, and mini-bar. The balcony was large and had a good sized table and chairs. The block out curtains ensured a good night’s sleep. Breakfast, served at a nearby sister property, was delicious. The staff were pleasant, courteous, and quite helpful.

Spire is located down an alley, which makes it a quiet location in bustling Queenstown. It is a bit tricky to locate, as you can’t drive to the front door. There is no spire on the hotel!

Staff all very friendly and helpful

We had checked reviews and had e mailed hotel before arriving to say we concerned about reviews about noise

So when we arrived and had room right over the alley we were really concerned we were told the noise didn’t reach 2 nd floor and we could move later if we wanted! We didn’t want to unpack then move as only there 2 nights. We asked what was on other side and ended up in room 6 over looking church. Although you did get a slight hum from kitchen chimney it was like an air con sound so didn’t disturb sleep

Next morning as we were leaving our room another couple left their room over alley so had to ask about noise and they said it was noisy but their room was opposite the strip club!

Hotel is located in a pedestrian alley which hotel didn’t make us aware of so bit confusing driving round and round the block and couldn’t find it! You park in loading bay opposite novatel and very short walk to hotel

We were told we could have free pre dinner drinks between 5-6. We assume for the whole hour it wasn’t it was a single drink each! Would have been handy to know as one of us is a non drinker!

Room was nice bed big and soft the chairs wide apart and not that comfy and found the real fur cushion and blanket questionable - don’t care if it’s road kill

Staff do all push the restaurant

Great location for walking out to town

Lovely breakfast

Everything about our stay at The Spire was first rate. From the friendly welcome from Luz at reception, to the stunning room - big on comfort and luxury, but super cozy at the same time. The mini bar was generous and delicious, while the view through the magical autumn leaves to the Lake was hard to leave. A big beautiful bath complete with delicious bath salts made the night super relaxing, and the bed was big and comfortable, with soft sheets and plenty of pillows. Breakfast was served with a smile by Luke at the Grille and we had the best seat in the house looking out at that mesmerising view. Now that we’ve experienced the Spire, there’s no doubt about where we’ll be staying next time we’re in Queenstown.

This hotel was highly recommended- and so even though it was pricey with a “deal” on booking.com, I booked it. The room was well-appointed, spacious and comfortable. The bed was mediocre. They source New Zealand products for the bath, which I loved(I’ve ordered some for home). The mini bar is stocked with chips, whitacres chocolate bars and beverages. Everything is complimentary but the alcohol. The alcohol looked to be all New Zealand as well. There is reportedly a turndown service, but I didn’t see it. You are welcomed with a couple pieces of fudge each evening. The hotel staff reached out well before my trip offering to book tours, dinner and the like. My flight was one hour late arriving, so I missed my dinner reservation which they moved to the bar for me. Upon arrival, I was escorted to my room and given a quick tour of the room. Afterwards, and much to my surprise, I was walked to the bar. Now for the downside. The Laneway Suite (#4) that I was in is over an alleyway and very near to a popular bar. Both nights it was nearly 3am before the noise died down enough to allow sleep. Breakfast is included but inconvenient as you must walk to neighboring hotel for it. Front desk staff are also shared between the Eichardt private hotel and the Spire. Since my return, I’ve read many other reviews citing noise from the bar as a problem. The pat response seems to be”you should have told us- we have a good relationship with the bar owner and could have addressed the noise”. It seems like this is a planning issue, perhaps something could be worked out with the bar where there is not outdoor seating or congregating after 10 or 11 pm so as to allow hotel guests to rest?

My wife and I stayed in the Spire Suite and it was just perfect. The staff are very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The Suite is awesome. In room dining was very surprising, not your normal fare, and can highly recommend after a long day out

Love this place. Superb service all round. Love the reception crew and the staff at The Grill. Nothing is ever an issue. The room (although starting to show its 10 + years age a wee bit) is meticulously presented. Loved the garden view room too. Very restful outlook and nice to hear the church bells on Sunday :). This place is highly recommended - which is why we keep going back :)
See you in July!

My wife and I stayed at The Spire for a celebration weekend, in one of the Deluxe Suites (Level 2, facing the lake). Others have commented on noise issues. For us, it was noticeable but certainly not disruptive, and we loved the mountain view so were glad to be on that side.

The staff at The Spire were all wonderful, and we felt like they created a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The suite itself was awesome, and everything we'd hoped. The onsite bar and restaurant was very good (definitely make the most of the included breakfasts) and our only regret was not having an evening meal there (though we did try one of their crayfish toasties with our complimentary cocktails - both the toastie and cocktails were superb).

We had asked for the staff to arrange a few things for our stay, and everything was amazing; from the airport transfers, to the private sight-seeing tour, and the incredible massage therapists who set up in our suite for a couple's massage. It was all fantastic.

Thank you team, for helping us to create some wonderful memories. I hope we can be back sometime (we promised to come an dine at No. 5!)

It might be one of the most difficult addresses to locate but once we have found it saying good bye was not easy. We were suitably impressed with our spacious suite (VIII) and a vast roof terrace overlooking the action in the street flooded with happy revelers. Its central location put us within 5 minutes' walk to any eatery and retail outlet in town. Yet despite the buzz in the street two storeys below we have enjoyed a most comfortable week of peace and quiet thanks to the excellent sound proofing and high quality bedding. All staff we have been in contact were friendly and professional without being obtrusive which is a sign of good training. This hotel will certainly remain in the top five of our list worldwide.

My daughter and I were lucky to get to Queenstown between lockdowns in Melbourne and had an extended stay at the Spire In July 2021. We were there more or less for 17 nights (originally 5!). This really felt like a home away from home. Our room was huge and with the most comfortable bed and we loved the Eames leather chair to relax on (so much so we bought one when we got home to remind us of our stay!). You couldn't ask for a better location in Queenstown we walked everywhere and the beautiful lake was a block away. We loved the Moulton Brown amenities and the snacks and drinks that were complimentary and replenished every day. The staff were absolutely wonderful and would go out of their way to help us. A special thank you to Thays! We had wonderful breakfasts at the sister hotel Eichardt's whilst the as the adjacent restaurant No 5 Church Lane was closed. However we were lucky to dine there on our last night and the food was superb, best we had in town! You can't go wrong staying at this gorgeous boutique hotel; we can't wait to get back!

We stayed for one night in late June in a deluxe suite facing the lake. Possibly the partial lake and mountain views advertised are a little optimistic. The room was well appointed, very clean, and very spacious. We would have preferred a little more lighting (which was very atmospheric!), and some of the furnishings are getting rather tired. Service was excellent from an early checkin, through to assistance at night when we needed a 24 hour pharmacy. The room was overlooking a small lane towards the lake. Noise in the night was an issue for us, with a number of bars and nightclubs in close proximity. We are sure however, that if we had been staying more than one night and let the hotel know, they would have moved us. We think that Spire suites would be much quieter. Breakfast at the sister hotel was very good, although no fruit.

The Hotel DOES have a pickup service. However, you will have to arrange that with the hotel. By the way, the Spire is a great place to stay and the staff is fantastic.
