Did not want to leave this remarkable place. Queenstown is happening. We were looking for a place with access to all the fun, but with a chiller vibe. Azur uses their perfect location and jaw-dropping views in just the right way. Each suite is private, with an outdoor deck, soaking tub with mountain and lake views, fireplace, mini bar that is restocked (and included in the room rate). Their kitchen staff make delicious breakfasts and offer both tea and evening canapés. But since they do not serve dinner, they have drop-off and pickup service in Queenstown, and they also offer to bring out carry-out into your own villa for dinner. Staff was attentive, warm, and helpful every step of the way.

My husband and I were in NZ for 2 weeks and Azur was the highlight of our trip. The staff are incredibly kind and friendly and really do try to tailor everything to your needs and preferences. The villas are beautiful and the tiniest details have been considered - heated floors, plenty of towels, fluffy robes, a hair straightener/flat iron, toothbrushes, makeup remover, a mini sewing kit, a yoga mat… just to name a few. The villas are spacious and comfortable and we honestly had to make ourselves leave. I slept so well every night and had the worlds best view to wake up to.

The food is delicious and made to order. Even without a formal restaurant on the property, the lodge provides so much food between breakfast, canapés and afternoon tea that you barely even need dinner! But when you are ready for dinner, there is always someone available at the lodge to drive you into town (5-10 mins at maximum) or you can order takeaway and have it brought to your villa.

The views from the property and the villas are just amazing. We had a few rainy days and even those views are just as beautiful. There are so many places in NZ that make you feel like you’re living in a picture and the views of the Remarkables and Lake Wakatipu are no different.

If you value experiences and want a few days to press pause and soak in the beauty in Queenstown, this is the place to do it!

Azur is not only situated in a spectacular location with beautiful views from all aspects of the property, but the staff and amenities were fantastic, which made for a wonderful stay. We received welcome drinks on arrival and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were able to request transfers to and from the main town of Queenstown and received afternoon tea and canapés in our room with spectacular views each evening.

I’d love to write a positive review about this establishment but tbh I was really taken back by what was on offer relative to the price .
There are very favorable reviews , but looking more closely many are from honeymooners .
It’s possibly their first time in ‘luxury’ so opinions might differ but all feedback is valuable .

Starting on a positive , the view is spectacular . The staff are very friendly and happy to help out where they can .

Sadly , the rest didn’t meet my expectations.
I paid nearly $2000 per night - having stayed at many hotels in this price range , I’m familiar with what other hotels offer .

However ….
The rooms are very dated decor , not changed for 10 years I’d guess so
the room looks quite tired .

The carpet was quite stained in areas .
Bits missing off the headboard of the bed , random screws in tiling - overall want what one would call well maintained .

The mattress was so uncomfortable it made my back ache after a few nights .

The rooms face westerly and in January the sun can be searingly hot - it’s so fiercely hot that you can’t sit on the deck without some kind of shade , a shade umbrella or some protection would’ve been very useful .

Guests are offered complimentary canapés at 5 pm which is a nice touch . However , what this actually amounts to is a singular oyster and a
tiny croquette - this type of penny pinching seems really at odds with a supposedly luxury brand .

Another unwelcome aspect is the hefty fees for credit card payments . There’s a small sign at the reception desk of course informing guests but given that I felt a bit ripped off anyway , to find that there was a $400 credit card fee was just too much .
I ended up paying by transfer to avoid paying this fee but the process to organise this took nearly half an hour .

The morning I was leaving for the airport , I confirmed with two staff that I needed transport into town - they forgot .

Overall I was really underwhelmed . I think if you’re charging serious money per night , a better standard should be offered.

My wife and I stayed here just before new years and it gets 5 stars on all accounts. The staff is amazing and in abundance. They are so friendly and all go above and beyond to help out. The lodge itself offers many perks that I did not even know about until visiting. The on site chefs are absolutely amazing and in addition to providing an amazing breakfast, also prepare afternoon canapes (finger foods that are to die for!). The staff also provides free local drop off and pick up which we used throughout our stay despite having a rental car (it is very difficult to find legal parking in Queenstown and the service is a godsend). Last but not least, the room and its view were incredible. This is the only time I have ever been to an expensive luxury resort and felt like I must be underplaying for the experience. We will come back (and hopefully soon)

Hi Matt, Thrilled to read that you soaked in the view and had the best stay at Azur Lodge! That is what we strive for everyday. The transfers to and from the lively downtown area certainly make for a nice and relaxed experience in Queenstown, avoiding the struggle of carparking. We can't wait to welcome you back! (And return guests always get local bubbles and homemade chocs!) Best Wishes, Danielle and the Azur Team

The location is wonderful with elevated views of the lake in peaceful serenity . Their free shuttle is flexible to your needs and makes the town easily accessible in 10-15 minutes . Villas are spacious and beautifully appointed with comfortable super king beds , large lounge area and modern luxurious bathroom with spa bath .
Whilst there is no dinner , the breakfasts are fresh , varied and very well cooked and afternoon tea with home made patisserie and the aperitif snacks included a home cooked pulled pork bay bun - so plenty of food and complimentary mini bar
This is a luxe experience with friendly , highly engaged and well trained staff from all over the world who clearly enjoy their work
Perfect in a stunning location !

We spent 3 lovely nights at Azur and thoroughly our stay. The setting is stunning and our villa (#6) was incredibly private, peaceful, and relaxing. The staff are very helpful and and eager to please - we enjoyed getting to know a few of them during our stay. Breakfasts were delicious and most afternoons we enjoyed the cocktails and canapés. We wish we could have enjoyed our patio more than we did but the fickle Southland weather wouldn't allow it, although we did enjoy sitting by the fireplace instead. Highly recommended!

Truly an amazing place. The location is close to town, and they provide transportation to/from everything you need.

The location is truly stunning. The views from the room and balcony provide constant perfect pictures. Absolutely amazing.

Breakfast was great every day, and one day they arranged for us to have a beautiful candlelight dinner in our room from a local resident.

We really, really didn't want to leave. Easily on the short list of the best accommodations we have had anywhere in the world. Extremely highly recommended.

A huge thank you to all the team at Azur for a brilliant stay; Charlotte, Luke, Seajay, Gavin and Matt, just to name a few who contributed to our 5-star experience. We didn't know what to expect landing into Queenstown after lockdown and with reports of the town being quiet. However, from the moment we landed, we were looked after by the team who couldn't do enough for us to make our stay easy, enjoyable, relaxing and luxurious! We took advantage of their local knowledge, hiking the Moonlight track from Moke Lake to Arthurs point and returning to Azur to enjoy drinks by the fire and canapés on offer every evening. The accommodation is very spacious with incredible views including a jacuzzi bath overlooking lake Wakatipu and a well-stocked fridge of complimentary drinks and snacks. Whilst there is plenty of space to relax in the accommodation, there is also the main house to enjoy.

This was our third visit to Queenstown and considering the impact of COVID lockdown, we were surprised by how busy the restaurants and bars were - we really enjoyed a night of live music at Little Blackwoods and soaking up the atmosphere in the cafe's and shops around town!

We can't recommend Azur highly enough if you are looking for a peaceful, stunning location just 5 minutes out of town (free shuttles provided). Excellent breakfast, attentive and friendly staff and everything you need to enjoy Queenstown.

We will be back!

Wow!!! Thankyou Emily and Josh for your wonderful review of Azur (I guessed it was you after you mentioned the Moonlight Track Hike). It was a real pleasure having you stay with us and it was fabulous welcoming you back to Queenstown and to Azur for your first stay with us. With Lockdown resulting in no guests being able to stay with us for sometime, it was great being able to do what we do best, and that is to truly take care of such a lovely couple like yourselves from when you arrived to when you had to return to the North Island. All of the staff shout out a big Hello and we hope that one day you will come and stay with us again if you decide to stay in New Zealand. Perhaps I can encourage you to do The Bungy jump next time!! Warmest regards, Charlotte and the staff at Azur.

Wonderful hotel. Has all the little extras others don’t think of. How many times have you stayed in a hotel and realised quickly that the room doesn’t work or there is no where comfortable to sit and relax. It’s the little extras that count and make you feel special like they care. To name a few they had hair straighteners, cheese board and sharp knife, no extra charge for items in the fridge, a dedicated luggage area big enough for 2 people, heated floors, afternoon tea and pre dinner drinks and of course a drop off service into town whenever you want rather than specific times. The only thing I was missing was a full length mirror unless I missed it. View is amazing and breakfast delivered to the room was lovely. Would definitely stay again

Hi, Azur Lodge allows children of all ages. However, we have a maximum occupancy of 3 guests per villa. If a child is 14 or older the children can have their own villa next door, although our 9 identical villas are stand alone and not interconnecting. A couple of times we have had a parent and child in each villa which we appreciate is not ideal for a family. I hope this helps. Warm regards, Danielle.
