Looking for a change, we stayed here for 4 nights and were pleasantly surprised. The Alpine Apartments are tucked in behind Pounamu Apartments who also manage them. Pounamu Apartments are more expensive to stay in, but these were still fairly upmarket. The Alpine Apartments are very new. To check in, you have to go to Apartment 2 at Pounamu Apartments. Our Apartment (no.26) was located up a steep driveway and we were allocated a car spot which was great knowing you had one unlike some of the larger apartment complexes in Queenstown which often don't have enough car spots for apartments which in Winter can be particularly tricky if you have to park in overflow areas such as steep, slippery driveways. I payed online for a one bedroom apartment (it was actually a 2 bedroom apartment with one of the bedrooms closed off). Our apartment had a fantastic 180 degree view of the Remarkables, Cecil Peak, Dear Park Heights and Lake Wakatipu (both ends)- other apartments behind us would only have corridor views. We had a patio with outdoor table and chairs - nice just sitting there and taking in the view. There is a massive window/sliding door (very heavy and hard to open) which enables you to admire the scenery. even more. Although having said that as we were located on a drive through road, anyone driving by could see into the apartment. At night you can draw heavy curtains for privacy. We had two lounge chairs, a 42 inch TV (about 8 or 9 cable TV channels (e.g. 2 movie channels, 2 sports channels), a DVD Library, box of chocolates, in room laptop with free WifI (now that's a rarity in NZ). There was a galley style kitchen with oven, gas hob (stove top), microwave, dishwasher, full size fridge and cutlery/crockery and saucepans. They even supplied paper towels and salt and pepper. Perfect for self catering. Downside to the kitchen (mainly design flaws):
*cupboard doors hard to open (scraped my fingers a few times)
*button to switch on the hob was hidden away in a nook
*the gas stove was next to curtains (a fire hazard for sure if you have a window open and the wind blows the curtains near the hotplate).
We had the window near the stove open all the time when cooking as there is a message not to cook "odiferous" foods (not that we did) and we didn't want to risk being charged extra for cleaning.
As it is essentially a 2 bedroom apartment, the dining table is decent and so is the amount of cutlery and crockery supplied. Both bedrooms have a glass wall (with a curtain) which allows you to enjoy the mountain scenery. There is also a wall mounted TV in the bedroom as well (bliss) and the bed is comfy and soft with a woollen underlay. In the bedroom, there is a closet behind a door, which lights up when you open it. The bathroom is sizeable and has a sizeable shower. Our apartment wasn't serviced for the entire stay - so the toiletries supplied (which are good quality) only last so long. You'll have to go to a supermarket and stock up. Not sure if reception supply them free of charge. You'll also have to empty your own bins as well. They also ask that you recycle empty plastic bottles, cardboard boxes etc and place in recycle bins. There was a separate utility room with a washing machine/dryer (useful for ski equipment as well). This room interconnected with the other bedroom (which was blocked off). It seemed like the other bedroom had its own bathroom as well.
The apartments are about a 15-20 min walk on Frankton Road into town and not far from Frankton track, which is a lovely track to walk on into town as well. There is also the yellow bus that you can catch as well (no.11 I think) which goes to town and to Remarkables Park Shopping Centre and the Airport.

I really enjoyed my stayed here. Because I booked online and stayed more than 2 nights, I got a bottle of Prada perfume delivered to my apartment (valued at NZ$167). That made my day after our long drive from Christchurch.

This place would be perfect for a family or two couples travelling together.

The views from the apartment I stayed in were fantastic. I had two nights here and loved the outlook and hearing the lake lapping just below.
The location is about 5 minutes drive from Queenstown centre.
There are several apartments on the complex, providing both short and long term rentals. Apparently each unit is privately owned and run by a Body Corporate.
There are some things to be aware of...
The consumables such as toilet paper, tea, coffee etc are not replenished during your stay and the apartments aren't serviced so beds are not made and towels not replenished.
I did have an issue with the TV when I accidentally pushed the wrong button when turning it off. I then didn't have any channels to watch. I called the number in the compendium the next day but was informed I'd have to call the owner of the property. I couldn't do this as I have no idea who this is. I booked through booking.com. They then told me that I would need to call a television technician in at my expense to fix it. That wasn't going to be an option for me so, I called my husband and showed him what was happening and had it fixed in 30 seconds.
Free Wi-Fi is provided, but only 500mb, which doesn't last long these days.
There are no stove top, but there is a toaster and microwave.
The unit I was in didn't supply wine glasses, and the glasses that were there were mismatched.
There was no iron and ironing board in the room, but I believe there was one in the complex laundry.
Also, the unit I was in, had a mirror on the wall that was too high to use. I'm not short, and I could just see my head in it if I stood back, and nothing else.
The duvet cover was also very creased.
There is no check in desk. Keys are left in a locked box for you to collect. Instructions are emailed to you. Keys are put into a drop box upon departure.
You are also expected to remove your own rubbish upon departure.

We wanted to stay somewhere really nice on our last three nights in Queenstown, so increased our budget a little and chose Alpine Apartments. The apartment was lovely, very smart and slick, although the bedroom was internal, so no windows - same with the bathroom but that did not matter so much. The apartment was two bedrooms although we only booked one, so the second one was locked and a curtain drawn across the window which looked into the lounge. This rather gave the impression it was a store cupboard. The sheets were crisp, the bed comfortable, the towels, white and fluffy. Everything spotlessly clean. The apartments are a ten minute walk from town - give or take a few minutes, depending on how fast you walk! "Alpine views" were advertised and this we got as well as snippets of the lake.....however, the apartment was virtually in a car park - an unsealed car park at that with cars coming and going creating dust. If we had chosen to stay in a "motel" you accept being close to other cars, but to me this was not really acceptable. I did complain because I felt for the money we paid it should have been better. The staff were wonderful, very accommodating, knowledgeable about attractions and understanding of my complaint. We were moved to an apartment at Pounamu - just in front of Alpine - see my report on this apartment. If you take my advice, spend just a little bit more and stay at Pounamu. However if you do not intend to spend too much time in the apartment, then Alpine would be fine.

Apartment was initially fine, but we had some serious issues later on in the stay. The views from the room are very nice and the decor is well laid out. Our issues were with the availability of basic amenities and your options of what to do when they ran out. We have stayed in many self catered locations during our travels but the lack of availability of basic help was a serious hindrance of this place at 10PM at night. Our other issue was the parking situation in front of our apartment which considering the fact we were travelling with a young baby in a car seat, was not good enough. The location was quite far out from the town centre but this wasn't a huge problem for us, the other things were however deal breakers.

My family and I recently booked 2 rooms at Pounamu for our first time holiday in Queenstown, NZ. We were pleasantly surprised with the clean, warm and well furnished rooms. The apartments looks new and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. In addition, the Wifi is free and reasonably fast. The apartments are 5 mins walk away from a beautiful lake and 15 minutes leisurely walk away from Queenstown Central.

We had a very memorable stay at the apartments and in Queenstown. We will definitely recommend these apartments to our family and friends,

We booked a 1 bedroom alpine apartment and it has a lovely view of the mountains. We were given a small bottle of milk as a welcome drink :) The apartment is cosy and clean with free unlimited wifi, a spare laptop, some DVDs, and there is nothing I can complain about.

The town centre is about 10 to 15 minutes away by foot and less than 5 minutes by car and there is a nice park nearby. Everything is pretty nearby so it's nice and quiet yet near the amenities.

My wife and I recently spent 2 nights at Alpine Apartments either side of walking the Routeburn Track. The accomodation was extremely good being very comfortable, clean and warm and being a leisurely 10 minutes walk from Queenstown central. The staff were always polite and helpful offering to assist with bookings, taxi's etc.
I can thoroughly recommend staying at Alpine Apartments.

The Alpine Apartments was one of the most comfortable and enjoyable properties I've ever stayed at, and I travel a lot. I live in Minneapolis and I was on my first visit to Queenstown -- and New Zealand -- with my brother, who lives in Boston. After the long trip and overnights in somewhat boxy hotels in San Francisco and Christchurch this was a breath of fresh air. It was wonderful to be somewhere that felt like a home. The apartment was set back from the main road so there was no traffic noise. Great view of the mountains and the lake with the floor-to-ceiling windows. Having a full kitchen, dining area and living room was fantastic and allowed us to stretch out and relax. We got groceries and didn't have to rely on restaurants unless we really wanted to go out to eat. The bathroom was huge and there was even a laundry room. The beds were very comfortable. It was a 10-minute walk to the center of town so we were close but not too close. It was great just sitting on the patio with a glass of wine, reading a book and looking at the view. Even though it's beautiful in the Queenstown area and there's a lot to do I found myself spending more time in the apartment than I expected because it was so comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back there again.

We booked this apartment through hotels.com and were sent a confirmation email for Alpine Apartments - when we eventually got to the apartments after being dropped by a taxi at an alternative set of apartments also called Alpine Apartments first, the receptionist was really patronising and told us we should have known it wasn't called Alpine because of a separate email sent in addition to the booking confirmation and she blamed hotels.com for the error. In the room there are business cards provided with the name alpine apartments so it's very unhelpful and confusing. The rooms are nice and you can walk into town, which is useful because when we asked the receptionist to recommend a good deal on a Car rental she snootily told us she only knew about luxury companies. When we arrived we changed our mind about one of the bedrooms being a double bed and asked for it to split into two singles (it's already 2 single beds) and the staff told us we would have to pay extra for the bed to be split and we should have thought of this beforehand - so one of our guests slept on the sofa bed instead. We wanted to check out slightly later the staff were unhelpful as usual. Such a stunning place and a well kitted out apartment, but the attitude of the staff means we'll never return.

Amazing apartments! We stayed in a 2 bedroom and they were ideal for families or friends. The bedrooms mirrored each other so both have there own ensuit and both had king beds. Very comfortable very warm, full kitchen and laundry were very helpful. Some days we just stayed in the apartment because it felt like home if only for a short while. Only a 10 minute stroll into town walk down is easy but on your way back up your on a slight hill we caught a taxi back which cost roughly $7-$10 very cheap. Defiantly will be staying again on our next trip to queenstown and will be referring to family and friends.
