Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Clean, modern, centrally located in the heart of downtown and excellent in-house services. Self-serve laundry in-house or pay-per-item thru the hotel. Close to the airport and everything in Queenstown. Excellent buffet breakfast, and other meal-service options available. In the room, heated towel rack, fridge, mini-bar, iron and board, and a terrific shower (step-over,) balcony and carpeting. Love it. The room is big enough but not bigger than average. Still, highly recommended.

Hotel's Favourite
Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is in a great location in the main part of Queenstown. After taking a short taxi ride from the Airport, we checked in within minutes of arriving and were greeted with a friendly Guest Services Agent. The hotel is fitted with elevators and the view from our room was breathtaking. This was my first time in New Zealand and Queenstown but this will stick with me forever. Unfortunately the air con in the room was not working but did not want to bother the staff as we were there for only a short stay but mentioned it upon check out. They offer a buffet breakfast which I would recommend and this property is within walking distance to it all! Highly recommend this place to anyone!

The room was comfortable and the room service was very good. Always had a hot shower and the warm towel racks were great. My husband now wants one! The position is spot on and so central - we loved being able to walk everywhere. Breakfast was good and the staff were very helpful. The scrambled eggs were horrible. The cooks need to taste what they are cooking. We booked the jacuzzi but we got busy and forgot about it! We used the valet parking and the service was great. It was a little expensive but made our life easy and can't fault it in any way.

Great location and lovely staff who are incredibly helpful during your stay. Rooms are good and they have a gym and Hot tub which are great. Parking is easy for dropping luggage off and the Novotel subsidise parking at a nearby car park (one street away). The only watch out is communications pre your stay and post your stay (if needed) are slow

The location of the hotel is its special advantage when competitors are set back, up the hill. Our room was refurbished and comfortable in every way. Bath tubs have been retained by a wise management. The breakfast is good and the dinner adequate. A blemish is discovered if a post dinner coffee is sought when staff will daily announce even at 9pm that they have cleaned the machine and closed coffee for the evening. Complaints and calls for the manager will succeed but why should a customer fight every evening for a coffee? Thus leaves a sense of disappointment after a very happy stay in a highly recommended establishment. PS Patagonian on the quay serve excellent take away coffee at any time! I am drinking mine in the hotel bar without complaint.

Dear Susie Thanks for your comments and for staying with us. We have noted your comments about getting a coffee after dinner and agree that you should not have to talk to our Restaurant Manager for this to happen - we have had some discussions around this and have requested the team to clean the machine after our guests have left the restaurant. We apologise that you had this issue. We trust your visit to NZ was a pleasant one and that hopefully you may one day return again. regards Jim Moore General Manager

This was my first stay at an Accor property and probably my last. We checked in and were assigned room 252 about 9:00pm. It smelled of smoke, and we immediately turned around, closed the door went back to the lobby and asked to be given a new room that didn’t smell like smoke as we have allergies. Nathan encouraged us to sign up for ACCOR and become members and that we may be eligible for a room upgrade. I applied at the front desk online and was told we were given a room with a better view and drink coupons for cocktails. We went to our new room 353. About 11:00pm I went to pull the covers back and there were bugs everywhere on the pillowcases of both beds. Some were flying and some dead. I called the front desk and Daisy was kind enough to come up and took photographs as did I. We were then given a third room room 265. I was disappointed because there are stains on the carpet, there is no view and we had requested an upgrade given that we recently applied as a member of Accor. I went downstairs and spoke with the manager, Vinay Chavda, to express my disappointment and to ask if perhaps we could be given a room with a view other than the parking lot. He said “we have moved you three times already.” And I said, “Yes, because the first room smelled like smoke the second one is infested with bugs, and the third one had no view, and we were told we would be given an upgrade. I was dismayed by his lack of empathy and not even offering an apology for the inconvenience. It is now after midnight. We are exhausted and would like a clean room. I asked for some type of concession as he said there were no other accommodations available. Which doesn’t appear to be true as I began looking for other accommodations on Trip Advisor and Novotel appeared as having rooms with lakefront views, rooms with breakfast included for Saturday and Sunday. I asked for a credit or breakfast during our 3 night stay. He said breakfast Saturday morning was all he could do. We are continuing to travel for three weeks and had hoped to stay at the Sofitel in Melbourne, Australia, but will be changing our plans given this recent experience. This has been a true disappointment. An apology from management would have been appreciated and gone a long way. Thanks to Daisy for being responsive but can’t say the same for her manager.

Dear Claudia D Thanks for your detailed review - it certainly sounds like you had a rough start to your stay and that your issues could have been resolved better. We are sorry that this was the case - we can certainly appreciate that having had a long day of travelling that the most important thing to most people will be to get settled as soon as possible. Accor has well over 5000 hotels world wide and prides itself on having many fantastic properties in some stunning locations with each offering unique experiences. At Novotel Queenstown we have many thousands of people stay each year and in general we get very good feedback both about our team and the hotel. It is always disappointing when our guests have been frustrated or do not enjoy the experience so we are sorry that this was your experience -it is difficult to do anything more than say sorry when the feedback comes through a third party like this as it can make it difficult to reach out - I will try to do some more investigation in regards to this to see if there is anything more we can do. Thanks for the feedback - we do hope that you enjoyed Queenstown as a place to visit and your time in New Zealand in general. Regards Jim Moore General Manager

Really central location, and friendly staff. Room was good but a bit small for a family of four, and getting a little dated. Just needs a revamp on carpets etc and it'd be great. The worst aspect is the availability of parking around the hotel. This is more a Queenstown issue in peak season.

Dear Q1697SRpeterr Thanks for staying and for your comments. Parking at the hotel is generally not an issue but at peak times can be - we offer valet parking for guests where we park the car in our carpark and then self parking at the Wilsons Carpark one block away - at some times such as New Years Eve or when Luma our annual light show is on the Wilsons option can get fully booked but we still manage to look after the vast majority of our guests with either option - unfortunately the supply is not never ending. We appreciate you staying with us and do hope that you will come back to explore more of what Queenstown has to offer. Thanks Jim Moore General Manager

Great location and service but needs some maintenance done to it. The hotel was nice and close to all the best restaurants of Queenstown and is in a good proximity to the airport. The service was fantastic given how busy the hotel was. The valet car parking was good to have.

Dear BBrown95 Thanks for staying with us and thanks for taking the time to review the hotel experience that you had. Our owners are working through doing a major piece of work on refurbishing the entire hotel and while that is taking longer than anticipated to start it is actively being worked on. We recognise that the hotel is getting older and these works will totally revive the experience for our guests - in the meantime our job as Managers is to do the best we can to maintain the hotel and present it in a clean and tidy fashion and to deliver great service - all of these are a key focus for the team. We do like to get feedback on areas that our guests feel could be improved and where possible we do work to ensure we try to meet these expectations. Thanks for your comments regards Jim Moore General Manager

Stayed over the NY period. The staff at the hotel are probably the best selling point about the hotel. Facilities are getting a bit tired and for the price probably need an upgrade to remain competitive. Very busy this time of year so long waits at reception, hotel bar and couldn’t get into the one hotel jacuzzi as it was booked out. Wifi wasn’t great, but I’m assuming it was under a lot of pressure. The basics are there, comfy bed, good water pressure and the location was perfect for walking everywhere.

Dear Jackie L Thanks for staying with us over New Years Eve - yes prices are at an absolute premium over this time of year all around Queenstown so we do try to stay somewhat competitive with this when considering our amazing location. The owners of the hotel are still working through plans and designs for major upgrade works - this is taking longer than hoped but we are confident that they will get there and the results will be great for our guests. We hope that you get back to see us again some time soon. regards Jim Moore General Manager
