Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great place and quiet, well maintained. Only thing was the heater was not hot enough no matter how long we leave it on for it was still sort of cold but nothing crazy, just not as warm as usual heaters but I guess it saves electricity so fair enough. And there was no showering gels or shampoos supplied, so just make sure you take your own ones. All in all I'd totally go here again next time I'm in queenstown!

In our 4-week trip in New Zealand this was convincingly the worst campsite we've stayed at. Badly maintained, especially the male toilets. We booked for 3 nights but needed to move for a day trip and they told us to leave our table on our spot as a reservation token as they got out of orange cones, but when we returned that sold out our spot. Then they searched for a replacement spot which was hard as we have a quite large motorhome but that ended relatively fine in the end (with only minor further inconvenience due to putting is on someone else's spot; obviously that's how they do business).

Great spot to use as a base to explore Queenstown without breaking the bank. We stayed 2 nights and most things we wanted to see and do were within walking distance. Clean facilities, water and dumpstation. Nothing more we could ask for.

The worst ‘campsite experience’ we have ever had, for probably the most expensive price we have ever paid.
Arrived 3.30pm, with no one on reception (note on the door said they’d be back at 5pm, that never happened).
Notice said we should have received an email with pitch details on etc, never received.
Didn’t know what we were to do or what pitch to take (we had prepaid).
No response from the emergency number, sent an email, no reply to that, so just parked up in a space with an ‘occupied’ label on it, presuming that meant ‘reserved’.

Facilities were dirty (toilet paper all over the floor and 2 blocked toilets), mud all over wash hand basins (appreciate that’s the campers not the owners) , but hand dryer not working, all shelves in showers broken off and rusted, yellow sticky tape everywhere covering up goodness knows what.

This campsite is in urgent need of some maintenance, cleaning and TLC, not to mention customer service.

Would not recommend

We were after a site close to town to park up in our camper van for a couple of nights. Staff were really friendly, good value for money. Facilities easy to access and always clean, plenty of space to chill and use to cook/clean etc. Would go back if we visit Queenstown again.

Stopped here for a night. Lovely elevated view. Flat sites plenty of room and not all jammed in like the others. Free showers. Clearly the new management are working hard to improve facilities and it’s reviews. Very pleasant to deal with and even happy to let us check out mid arvo so we could make the most of the day.

We arrived at the QBox park on 3rd Jan 2020. Despite our lack of a reservation, we managed to get a powered site for our campervan. It was ok, though not as nice as the other parks where we stayed. Seemed like a patch of waste ground, with shipping containers being used as buildings. The usual camping facilities provided, although I didn't dare venture into the showers! At least it was cheap, and only 15 mins walk from Queenstown centre. And wifi was included.

Not sure where to start. Facilities are average at best. We showed up late in the afternoon and staff was only interested in filling spots. When I asked about the ammenities, the response was "look, do you want to stay here or not, spots are filling up". Staff was not around after 8pm and partying and VERY loud music ensued at the fire ring until the early hours of the morning. At 1AM, we moved our campervan from our powered spot to a random spot farther from the noise with no power. When I went to approach staff in the morning, they could not be found. A sign stating "Back in 30 min" was on the door, only they were not back for at least 2 hours when we left. I wish I had taken pictures in the morning of the lounge and kitchen, descriptions don't do it justice. It smelled of stale beer which I can understand because there were people sleeping in the lounge and no room on any flat surface to set anything because there was empty alcohol bottles everywhere. More of a college party scene than a holiday park. It appears that I am one of many people who had similar experiences according to these reviews. Also looks like Q Box Management pays attention to these reviews. Its too bad no action is taken to fix this - this site has great potential due to its location.

Tash and I have been staying here in our caravan since early December 2019 and are enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. Unlike the other parks in Queenstown itself this is a basic operation without all the strict rules and regulations. Facilities are pretty good, only had one cold shower due to gas supply breakdown otherwise hot showers, clean toilets, all good kitchen facilities with wifi lounge and friendly easy going staff. No bookings, just turn up, grab a powered or unpowered site and set up. Rates are good for Queenstown and cheaper than the other parks. We are actually located on the side of a mountain bordering the forest line with 360 degree sweeping mountain views of granite mountains and a fast flowing stream that runs right through the camp. Very scenic. A few goats visit now and then from the mountains. The hang gliders launch off the peaks above us and you often see then twirling around the skies above us and the resort town below. 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive into the township and the Lake Wakatipu waterfront. The Christmas Eve party last night was a very big social event with over 80 people sharing the common areas and mingling without any dramas. Good fun and no hassles with overbearing and dictatorial staff or major restrictions. Absolutely recommend it for the young at heart...I'm 63.

i stayed in q -box as a "long term resident".Worked in the centre of town and had the chance to walk to work every moring, wich didnt take me long (approx. 15 /20 min) everyday a different amazing view of the mountains.its close to the supermarket wich was a very big plus in my opinion.loved staying here, you'll get the chance to meet people from all over the world, some people staying long term other just for one day.you can go hang out in the lounge when you feel social, but at the same time when you would like a quiet night by yourself you wont notice of anything going on in the lounge. they have a spacious kitchen and the showers are great!wifi was decent and free. i stayed in my own vehicle but there are also cabins availabe. would definately reccomend! thanks q-box!
