My wife and I stayed here several nights and had a great stay at Browns. The rooms are good sized, we had a nice view of the city and the lake, the breakfast they provided each morning was good, the rooms were clean, the host was helpful and the location is great. You really don't need a car once you arrive as all of the place to eat and shop are in walking distance and tour pick up locations are either at your front door or in the downtown area just down the road. We really enjoyed our stay in the area and wish we had booked a few more days in Queenstown as there is so much to do and it helped that the weather was so nice as well. Highly recommend staying here based on all of the info listed above and especially the location being so central to everything.

Room Tip: room on city side is nice as it face the lake and the town. We were on the top floor.

The location of the hotel is just perfect - away from the noise and bustle, but a short walk (max 5 mins) to the town centre, partly via a private walkway. Plus, the views from the elevated position are stunning. Added to that, the hospitality from Peter-Ray was just incredible, and it was like staying with a good friend. So helpful and accommodating. The accommodation is very comfortable with all amenities required and the continental breakfast was great. This is not a "glitzy" hotel like some of the larger chains, it has that "homely" feeling which we like when travelling.

Very well located from town Center and the wharf. Room was lovely with a beautiful view. Breakfast was delicious with family style seating making easy to engage with other travellers. Peter-Ray is a wonderful host. Very welcoming and helpful.

Browns Boutique Hotel is a quaint and friendly accommodation close to the centre of Queenstown, styled as an alpine lodge and with classic kiwi hospitality. We stayed there in summer either side of completing a 3-day hike. Peter Ray was very helpful, making up a packed breakfast for our early start and storing our luggage that we were not taking on the walk until we returned. The hotel rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was great, representing very good value.

Actually it is located just a block or so from the edge of the restaurant/shopping area, all within walking distance via a private walkway. Beautiful back patio setting, excellent breakfast, lovely rooms with great view of the city. Owner/manager Peter-Ray Moroney made us welcome, even when we showed up early. And he offers free concierge services, a great boon when one is new to town! A great place, not a cookie-cutter motel!

A pricey and very average hotel that I booked on Booking.com for one night this Easter. When we arrived I was not welcomed, but was berated by the host for booking my stay with Booking.com. which he had huge issues with. He basically scolded me that I should have booked directly as I had paid 16% more than if I had gone directly to him.
I had stayed there many years before and had always had the breakfast included. However, this time I was told it would only be included if I had booked directly . Now he grumpliy told me I had to pay a whopping $68 extra if we wanted breakfast. He continued to rant about how foolish I was which I found rude and unwelcoming.
The room was adequate, although there was no soap in the bathroom nor milk for a cup of tea, which I guess are minor issues but I was so upset at his rudeness that when I had to go to the office twice I felt like leaving . Not much of a view.
No parking despite this being advertised.
I recommend staying elsewhere.

We booked the "honeymoon package" for a 3 night stay and were thrilled with the hotel. We met the owner at check-in who showed us to our room which had a nice balcony/view of town. We enjoyed the bottle of bubbly at check-in as well as the airport transfers which were seamless. The massage included in the package was a major highlight as neither of us had experienced a true Japanese massage before.
The hotel itself is very conveniently located just a 5 minute walk from town, but removed from the loud bars/clubs which bump into the early morning hours. The manager convinced us to book the TSS Earnslaw dinner (and actually booked it for us/charged to our room) and that was a major highlight of our trip. I was surprised to read some of the negative reviews as our stay was near perfect.

Great two night mini break. Well looked after. Lovely room and communal lounge / dining areas. Plenty of choice with European breakfast - filled us up for most of the day. Location really is 'on point' - combo of great views of hills, lake, and mountains and super close to town.

What great service and a great hotel to match.

We were doing a trek for 4 days before staying at the hotel, and they stored our extra bags for us until the day we arrived.

Then when we did arrive, they had already put our luggage in our room for us. They upgraded us because the room was free, and they could (the view from the room was perfect). We got a nice heads up on what was avaliable at the hotel, such as: A living room to chill in, a big nice room with Netflix (if all you need on the night is a comfy bed and something easy to watch after a big hike or which ever sport you are there for in Queenstown).

Honestly, we were made to feel at home, which I've never had before at a hotel. The manager was professional yet chilled out, knew the town well, and had recommendations for food and drink.

It felt like the hotels you hear about where you get the nice room and the nice service with a friendly touch. I don't know if it is my choice in hotels, but normally it's "here's your key your room is on the 2nd floor". All nice, and there's nothing wrong with that. Just the extra bits stood out to me.

Was just a nice surprise. I feel like the team went above and beyond. Thanks.

Easily reached by friendly taxi from Queenstown airport, the hotel proved a perfect base from which to begin our month long trip around New Zealand. Close enough to all amenities to be convenient but just far enough away from the hustle and bustle to recover from our long haul flights.
Peter and Campbell were excellent hosts, our room splendid, breakfast hearty and the laundry service most welcome.
Iain Woods and Sherri Dewsbery.
