Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

David and Wendy made us feel right at home from the movement we arrived at Hidden Lodge. Our stay far exceeded our expectations. The view from the lodge is magnificent, we spent a few happy evenings curled up by the fire watching the sun set over the mountains. Don’t miss out on their wood fired hot tub and enjoy breakfast made to order. We will recommend Hidden Lodge to all of our friends and family.

A great place to stay whilst exploring Queenstown, which is just magnificent The lodge is situated in a quiet location overlooking the lake and mountains, and the views are superb. Just a 5 minute drive from the centre of town, and the rooms are cosy and warm, Which was most welcome because it was very cold during our stay. Our room was short of storage space. The best asset of the Lodge are the managers, Wendy And David, who are charming native New Zealanders. They were warm, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable ——- it was a delight to meet them !!

There are so many things that are fabulous about this lodge. Set in the quiet end of Queenstown it offers fabulous lake views from every room and plush suites. The guests know everything there is to know about the area and ski areas. They can arrange wine and snow trips and offer great tips. My stay was catered and the food was plentiful, tasty and high quality. There is a lovely lounge with a fire and beautiful views for apres ski or pre-dinner drinks. I started every morning with a stretch and sauna and finished each day in the outdoor hot tub which, again, enjoyed an uninterrupted view of the lake and mountains. Pretty much as photos in their listing suggest, and is a perfect venue for groups or solo travellers. Just don't tell everybody!

First off, you absolutely cannot beat the view at this place, they are breathtaking. Every staff member we interacted with was incredibly sweet & helpful. We had one of our tours get cancelled and Trent wrote down a list of neat things we could do in the area instead (and we ended up having a wonderful day). Everything is super clean, the beds are comfortable, the breakfast is delicious, the recommendations are spot on. It truly felt like staying with family members instead of a hotel. It was the absolute best place to end our trip and we are so happy we stayed there!

This is definitely a 5 star stay, Kerrin and Luke were so accommodating. Beautiful views, so peaceful, very clean, the breakfast is great with lots to choose from, Kerrin your home baking was top notch, and your sence of humor topped the stay off Luke. We cannot wait to come and stay again!!

We enjoyed a one night stay here. The host Christophe was very welcoming and made sure our stay was perfect in every way. The room was great, along with the bed and view. Breakfast was also good. It’s about 5 minutes drive out of downtown, and you could take a bus if you didn’t want to have to find parking.

Claudia and her team (Chris, Ellie, Lisa, Ashleigh) need to give lessons to others in the service industry on how to exceed customers' expectations. Seriously! I don't believe we have ever stayed anywhere that had this perfected like they do. I'll try to articulate some of why our four nights there were so perfect. The location is great and is a stunningly beautiful retreat which feels like you are far out in the country, but it's a few minutes from downtown Queenstown. Very quiet! The accommodations are immaculate, with all of the finest in terms of bedding, furnishings, cleanliness, etc. Breakfasts were delicious with fruits, yogurts, granolas, made to order omelets, eggs, etc. Wine and appetizers in the late afternoon was a nice touch, as was the ability to buy a bottle of New Zealand wine from local vineyards. The staff was very friendly and engaging, in a very sincere and authentic way. They all made you feel as if you were staying with them at their lovely home and they wanted your experience to be a great one. As I reflect back I believe what really sets them apart is their proactive way of offering service that you wouldn't have thought of asking for. Example: One evening after a busy day out and about, Chris offered to drop us into town for dinner so that we didn't have to navigate busy traffic or parking situations. On another evening, Chris offer to go and pick up a pizza for us one evening when we came back tired from a day hike on the Routeburn Trail. We wouldn't have thought about asking for either, but he offered in a way that made us know he was sincere and didn't feel as if we were imposing. Just WOW service and accommodations. Congratulations to Claudia for building such a great team of professionals who are also great people. I miss you all!
