The hotel is a 10 minute walk into Queenstown centre, or if you fancy a more scenic walk, 20-25 minutes through Queenstown gardens, both down hill, so uphill on the way back!
The room was dated, needing a total refurbishment. The bulbs in one of the bedside lamps had gone and also one in the bathroom, the bath was chipped in numerous places. The shaver 2 pin socket did not work. The ventilation window in the bathroom was permanently ajar, couldn’t be closed, consequently whenever anyone walked by, talking we heard it all. Also, door closing of cars parked outside. The rooms were wooden cabins, consequently when people closed their doors, the cabins rattled.
The breakfast choice was comprehensive but there were no lids covering the hot dishes so, unless you got the food as it was served, most things were only lukewarm. The carpet in the dining room didn’t look as if it had seen a vacuum in days, there were crumbs and egg shells all over it

The restaurant on site is convenient if you don’t want to walk down and back up the steep road and driveway. (I didn’t have a car).
I found the staff very friendly and helpful - especially assisting me with my suitcase up the driveway and stairs.
Local bus to the airport only costs $10 and the stop is located within easy walking distance (great for solo travellers).
It’s not very often I write a review but on this occasion I had to do it
To start with we stayed here for 3 nights and during this period we hardly had any hot water despite making complaints it was never resolved some of the staff members in the reception took it as funny, we were a group of 12 couples and half of them were given rooms in the outer building which were dilapidated when we asked to change rooms they said they were completely booked we later found out there was an on going problem with hot water which was yet to be resolved in which case they shouldn’t have given out this room.
The staff in the restaurant didn’t understand English as several times we had to repeat the order.
All in all the hotel is ran unprofessionally we have asked for a compensation for all the inconvenience caused.
Such a terrible management skills! Such a lack of customer service! All accommodation businesses here in Queenstown appreciate being chosen and offer excellent service to captivate guests but here it seems that they want to scare them away. I will never choose this accommodation again or recommend it.
Location is very handy for town.
Bed was comfortable.
Reception staff very efficient and pleasant.
The down sides:
A very dated and impersonal bleak hallway to get to our room. Threadbare carpeting.
Carpeting in our room very thin and rucked in areas.
Bathroom very dated - wooden trim surround between bath and walls.
Chipped bathroom door and rusting/chipped bath and sink.
Scalding hot shower with temperamental tap/temperature gauge.
Spluttering gushing water pouring out of the 'shower' like a big tap/water hydrant rather than a shower. Very unpleasant and felt quite dangerous.
The bathroom sink was very low and I am just over 5ft tall and had to lean over.
The toilet didn't flush very well.
I was going to make a cup of tea before we left however the milk carton in the fridge was half full and had been snipped open and used. I therefore did not make a drink!
I have emailed the general manager at the property but have had no response.
I don't recommend this as a place to stay. I have stayed several times in the Scenic Suites part of this property without any hitches. I have lived locally for over ten years however wouldn't stay here again.
This was a treat for my daughter and I and I feel very disappointed as the money spent on the room does not refect the quality and value received. Very pricey for what is on offer.
Queenstown is a visually spectacular place, but when we visited it was so busy that it was difficult to get about, let along find a place to eat and relax. The hotel seemed somewhat of a haven from all that hustle and bustle.
"Avoid 410-428 if you don’t like noise. Don’t hesitate to ask for the mattress topper to be replaced, the one we had was worn out."Read full review
