Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Even though we booked our trip early last year we arrived to be told we had been moved to a different hotel due to maintenance issues of which they couldn't elaborate on !! Reception staff were very unhelpful and basically couldn't care. They said they had no contact info for us to advise us of situation before our arrival. We eventually spoke to a ?manager who said we had been upgraded at the new hotel. They quickly organised a taxi to take us there but we arrived to be told they had booked us a standard room . We booked a king-size lakeside view room and ended up with a double groundfloor carpark view ! The staff at the Novotel were fantastic and moved us the next day to a garden room with balcony they were so apologetic for our situation. Rygees lakeland resort you are terrible and don't deserve the trade

The location is good. The room is tiny and really stuffy. We need to sleep with the balcony door open. But, to top it off, there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. Think about it… it’s really important. Restaurant’s; don’t bother. Do Management care? Don’t think so.

Was placed here as our original hotel cancelled our booking. Having read the reviews I was somewhat concerned. However, this is an excellent hotel. Ample parking. The reason why they charge to park is that the car park area is council owned and the hotel has to pay $15 for every car parked. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was clean and we had our own secure balcony with furniture. The bathroom was perfectly adequate (not sure why people say it is small. What do they want to do in there!) No noise was heard from adjoining rooms. No A/C, but there was a fan and the windows opened. Breakfast was incredible with an abundance of staff clearing tables. The view is amazing. 5 minutes walk into town. Ignore the negative nit-pickers and have a great stay at this hotel.

First impressions were bad, when I arrived the hotel had no carparks and I was told to try and find something on the road for the night (found somewhere 15min walk away, but if you arrive after 6pm you might get something closer) . Very old furniture, my room was missing the mini bar fridge door. The walls are paper thin, my neighbours were up until past 1am talking with kids screaming and I couldn’t get in touch with the hotel via the room phone or on the telephone;no answer at reception or the operator) so just gave up and had a terrible night sleep. I was on the 5th floor with a shattered balcony with about 5 other rooms, you have absolutely no privacy. Wouldn’t recommend, lots of other great options in Queenstown if you book ahead. Please note the QT is the same hotel.

Rooms very small, no a/c, bathrooms extremely outdated with that awful fake wooden flooring. Nice having the window open but traffic noise not the best. If you want to keep your window or sliding door open DO not stay on the 2nd floor as it is shared with everyone staying on 2nd floor and not secure. On a positive note Staff at reception and cocktail bar very friendly, views beautiful.

The location and views of the lake are fantastic, the staff have all been wonderful and the cleaner did a steller job. The whole place feels as cheap as possible, with minimal effort. The room and amenities are not worth what we paid at all. I feel the room is worth half what we paid. In fact we stayed in a roadside motel recently that was way better.

Great location, bar and breakfast and the staff in these facilities were excellent. Lovely views. Reception staff weren't great. They seemed confused but any question or request and had to run every little thing through a manager. We arrived at 3 pm, rooms were not ready until after 6 pm. Twin rooms requested which were not prepared. We had to request for the beds to be split 5 times. We were told they didn't have sufficient staff. Saying that after our initial issues with room service staff our rooms were cleaned beautifully daily. Room are very very small. Adjoining balcony's with other rooms is problematic. Overall a good place to stay in Queenstown and I would recommed the bar and breakfast.

We stayed for 15 nights over Christmas and New Year and wished we hadn’t. We booked a lake view suite which did have a view over the lake but the room itself left a lot to be desired. Very dated and no aircon which surprised us in that grade of hotel, just an electric fan. Also lack of storage place for clothes, only a sliding wardrobe. We had to use floor space for some of our clothes. There were several days where our towels weren’t replaced, milk pots not refilled, coffee sachets not refilled, bins not emptied, body wash not refilled, need i go on. Our first night we walked into the town for something to eat and got back at 9.30pm for a drink in the bar before bed and to help us with our jet lag. We were told the bar was shut despite on the door stating open 2pm - late. The bar closed early every night we were there apart from New Year’s Eve. There is a restaurant, which we never ate in, but not open Monday and Tuesday. The main restaurant open for breakfast but not dinner which I found incredible considering it was the height of the season. There was piped loud music in the corridor of the 6th floor but not sure why. We were offered a $10 per day off in the bar if we didn’t have our room serviced which we found an insult and declined. The cost of our stay was highly overpriced, we expected better for our money. On a positive note the reception staff were excellent and sorted our lack of towels etc whenever we needed them. Needless to say we wouldn’t go back or recommend.

We have been here for 5 nights and it has been a brilliant experience. The hotel is an easy walk into town and bus links also Brill. The hotel staff have been friendly and helpful. Bar on level 6 has amazing views as did our room. While here we did the Milford sound trip, the Steamer on the lake and local bus to Arrowmouth. We also enjoyed the many bars and nightlife just been an amazing stay. Room good size clean just enjoyed our first visit, woukd we return yes.
