A few short minutes away from the clatter of Central Queenstown is this wonderful gem with million dollar views and amenities for all kinds of travellers: an in-house cinema, delicious on-site restaurant, full gym facilities with a squash court, pool and a spa overlooking the Shotover River. Can't recommend highly enough!

We had a river view room with stunning views. The room was large, warm and comfortable. A lot of old character throughout the hotel. A spa is attached and other amenities. Had a private outdoor hot tub. So worth it. Definitely eat in the restaurant too. Quiet spot. Near shotover jet which travels on river below. Near coronet peak ski field too.

Purchased a value package that included two nights, two breakfasts and one dinner with use of pool and spa included. Firstly the not so good; the room was seriously dated and needs a full remodel. The good - It was huge, warm with a good wall heater, and opened on to a small garden area (we didn't pay extra for river view). The bathroom was just okay, toilet was old and half flush; shower was okay. The expected bottles of toiletries were not provided, just a tiny soap bar and wall mounted wash gel (saving the environment but not the quality expected for this type of establishment). The Good - Amazing Staff, so friendly and helpful; the best! The Kanuka restaurant and bar; wow, such amazing food. It's simple and healthy and perfectly presented. Choices for vegetarian and gluten free too. Large servings over three courses. Big thanks to the chef/s. Breakfast also was great. The second morning we went for breakfast at 9am but were not served our hot food until almost 10am (due to a function). This is not good as we almost had to cancel due to time. The views from the restaurant are amazing, both morning and night. The bar has TV with full service unlike the bedrooms which are very limited. We walked around the outside of the hotel to see the river view from outdoors. There might have been a walk path long ago to the river but there's nothing now which is sad. Parking is provided. About 8km from town but there's a bus stop outside or taxi. We didn't use the pool/spa area. The old hotel is beautiful, the doors and fireplaces and the skylight. Also the history panels in the foyer are interesting. Note; there is almost no phone reception but the hotel provides wifi. We will definitely stay again but might choose Park apartment next door rather than the older hotel rooms.

So the good things, the view from our river side room was worth the money alone, the staff were super friendly and the kitchen staff were very accommodating with us taking early morning adventures and packing us our breakfast and food was amazing , really liked the decor. Wish I could have had our massage but there was a mix up, that the staff were very sorry for. Only real complaint is the bed is not a queen just two singles together and wasn't the most comfortable.

Over all had a good experience, hotel was aged but gives it character which I actually really liked! Only negative is that the beds are 2x singles rather than a king size bed. Would recommend staying here and hubby and me would stay again! Staff are friendly food is great and the spa and pool and gym areas are amazing!
