Detailed Reviews
My wife and I were on an organized tour of New Zealand. We stayed here for 2 nights. This turned out to be the last hotel of our stay. We had to return to the USA based upon government travel recommendations. I found a 0800 New Zealand number for my airline, and the Front Desk was helpful in connecting me to the telephone number without charge.
The rooms are arranged in a circular or doughnut shape. Our room #116 was on the opposite side from the elevator, but we did not mind. The lobby was on Level 3. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. There were no spare outlets by the nightstand by the bed. We had to use the outlets on the opposite wall (by the desk, TV, dresser). Wi-Fi worked very well in the room. The bathroom had a combination tub/shower.
There was a coin-operated laundry on the 2nd floor. It cost 2 NZD to use a washer or dryer, and the same amount for washing powder (buy in the laundry room, or from the Front Desk).
The hotel offered a free shuttle to the downtown area. It left the hotel on the hour. We used it once. The driver was friendly and offered helpful advice about places to visit.

This Millennium Hotel is close to Lake Wakitipu, Queenstown Gardens and town center. The area is very walkable and convenient to town activities and also only about 5 km from the Queenstown airport.
We arrived at 11:30 am and hoped for an early check in (check in time was 2) and were told a bit coldly they couldn’t do it. I understood that but a little friendliness and warmth would have gone along way. It also would have been nice to have been offered parking (we discovered was a challenge in town) and a map of town (we found a stack of copies later on the front desk). Parking is $10 per night which was unexpected, but is in a gated garage beneath the hotel, very convenient and is not unreasonable.
They offer a lovely breakfast buffet which our reservation said was included. Signage in the hotel indicated an additional charge for breakfast which they indicated was to be requested the night before. This was not mentioned at check in and I had to go down to ask about it, whereupon the receptionist looked it up and said breakfast was indeed included in our reservation.
The room was lovely, amenities nice, new, clean and safe. Had the front desk been more helpful and welcoming I would have given five stars.

Despite the oldish furniture and an out-of-date decoration we had a great overnight at Millenium. The room is very large, bedding is great, washroom has a bath tub, the view me to the mountain in front of “ Gondola” cable car 🚠 is stunning.
I don’t give 5 stars because nobody helped us to bring our luggage after check in and because you have to pay extra money to park your car.

We only stayed here for one night but it was very nice! We found free parking on Melbourne Street and walked into town both days so we wouldn't lose our spot (and also because we knew it would be hard to find parking in town). You do walk downhill to go into town and uphill to get back to the hotel. We were hardly in our room (except to sleep) so I don't have many memories of the room. I do remember waiting for the elevator one time and looking out into the beautiful middle gardens. The one main thing I remember is even though we had checked out the next day, we still used their main floor lobby bathroom to change clothes after doing white water rafting and getting drenched and that was very nice of them to allow us to use that. It allowed us to be in dry clothes for our 6hr drive back to Christchurch.
I don't know anything about them but we did routinely see large buses in their driveway, picking up or dropping off groups so my guess is this hotel serves large coordinated tours (and perhaps many hotels in Queenstown do, I don't know).

The Millennium Hotel is located in walking distance to the heart of Queenstown. There is a walk up a hill when you are returning to the hotel which can be difficult if you were out all day and tired. There is a shuttle service which was great and many people used. The shuttle returned for a second load of people on 1 day.
The rooms were large and we were on the first floor which really was in the "basement" since the elevator went down to the room and others went up to their floor. We had a glass door which led to the garden area. The bathroom had lots of shampoo, soap, conditioner and body lotion. The room was clean. We had free wifi service but not sure if that was part of our package or if everyone had wifi.
Our stay included the buffet breakfast and we enjoyed eating the the hotel. There was a chef who made omelettes and they were great. Many choices on the buffet area including a pancake maker so fresh hot pancakes. I was able to serve myself with hot water for the tea which was helpful.

We had notified the hotel in ad6we would be arriving late and would like car parking facilities they responded this wouldn't be an issue. However when we arrived after a very long day of travelling we were informed the car park was full and we would have to park on the street. I showed the front of house our email interactions requesting on site parking but was advised this was available to us. Street parking was around the corner but was busy and was stressful trying to park at 11pm.
This is the only hotel in NZ where our card was charged a room deposit everywhere else takes the card as a hold so it's annoying having to continually check you've been refunded your money a real nuisance.
Our room was on the '4th' floor but our window opened into the bus car park so we could never open our curtains as the car park was full of people coming and going and buses parking. We were awoken each morning. Had no natural light in our room either.
Room was clean and comfortable. Good location.
We would not stay again.

We stayed in a garden view superior room that was very spacious and comfortable.
The bed was great with the giant pillows that we love, plenty of lighting and, funnily enough, loads of mirrors.
Nice big TV with Sky channels.
Cleanliness couldn't be faulted and the variety of tea and coffee was really good.
We didn't have breakfast at the restaurant but because we had a table and chairs in the room we were able to bring our own bowls and spoons and have a bowl of muesli before heading out for the day.
All the staff that we encountered were friendly and efficient.
Parking is available but costs $10 a night so we parked our rental on the side street for free.
I have stayed at other Millennium hotels across NZ and this one is as good as any.

The location is not bad but it is at the top of a hill in Queenstown. This does make it a bit hard work although they have a shuttle bus running on the hour but that only takes a few people. His said the rooms are of good quality and the breakfast is really good with a chef doing eggs to order. Nice clean and comfortable hotel to stay in.

No complaints here! The room was huge and whilst the furniture is dated and the room a bit dark, it was completely comfortable, clean and perfectly suitable for our needs.
The star of the show was the food! Well priced, every element perfectly presented and tasty! Lovely fireplace and atmosphere.
I’d encourage people to book the breakfast with their deal as we found this great value.
Close to town but a bit of a hike up a hill from town (which in the rain is not fun) but taxi is only $10 which was cheaper than parking our car!
Staff were lovely and deserve to have a pat on the back during these tough covid times!

First time in a Millennium hotel. Short walk to town. Friendly welcome by Front Office staff and room was good. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean, big TV, and the room was decently sized. Few maintenance issues let them down, wallpaper bubbly, furniture has a few scrapes and scratches. All staff we encountered were friendly, and the breakfast staff were hospitable. Breakfast was decent, buffet replenished well and chef available. WiFi not unlimited, but $5/day for good fast unlimited WiFi. Parking limited but available for $10/night. Good hotel for a short 2 night stay.

The hotel does have a shuttle service between their hotel and to downtown area. They might be willing to pick up at the airport if you give them a call to arrange.
You can see the lake in the distance from some rooms but it’s not located on the lake just close to. Still a wonderful hotel that I’d highly recommend...
