Detailed Reviews
As a family of 4 (2 adults, one seven year old and an infant), we found this hotel was great for our one night stay. We booked a Lakeview room and arrived bedraggled with a million bags (we packed the kitchen sink for a tour of the South Island). Two staff promptly offered to help us take our bags to our room (which came with a smile). Included in our rate was a delicious hot and cold buffet breakfast (high chair available). We were able to book the relaxing hot tub. Easy walk to town with a pram. Rooms were a decent size, super comfortable beds. Bathrooms in need of refurbishment but wasn't a major concern for our short stay. No issues with parking but recommend getting early and not moving (you can leave bags with reception if room bot ready). Overall, great value and would stay again.

Its a bit tricky to find where reception is while driving on the busy road, but reception was very friendly and informative, the rooms were really good and great little kitchenette with more than just a jug and some tea and coffee like other hotel rooms and a lovely view of the lake. Also great underground parking. We were told about breakfast and thought it was a good deal, however it was really poor, the toast was like cardboard I thought it was over priced for what I got.

Hotel in major need of renovation. This is the 2nd Copthorne hotel in New Zealand I’ve stayed at and both times was disappointed. Greeted by scaffolding at the front entrance. The room was crammed, especially the bathroom that had the toilet almost underneath the sink. Complimentary coffee and tea and was not available in the morning and the lounge area was very dated.
When checking out I was going to be charged for 2 local calls I made to reconfirm tours. There was no indication that I would be charged for local calls. After complaining they credited my account.

We have stayed at the Copthorne Lakeview before on a previous holiday so knew the quality of the hotel/rooms and the location.
Like our first stay, we received very welcoming service during check in, allocated a car park and had been given the run down of the hotel in no time.
As there were 4 of us we booked a two bedroom apartment. We had two decent size bedrooms, one with an en-suite (no toilet). There were two separate toilets, a bathroom with just a basin and a bathroom with basin and a shower. There was a balcony off the lounge as well as one of the bedrooms upstairs providing a stunning view of Lake Wakatipu.
Although not as modern as other hotels, each room was clean and tidy which is important to us.
We ordered room service for dinner after not having much luck finding somewhere to eat out. There was a good range of options of the menu and pricing was reasonable.
The wait ended up being half an hour roughly and we ordered two chicken burger meals, the steak meal and the lamb shank. Everyone was impressed with the quality and taste of the meals as well the size of the meals.
Check out was just as easy, and I received the same friendly service.
The Copthorne is good value for money and we would definitely stay here again.

We were very disappointed in our stay recently. We paid $175 per night and felt it was over priced. The Hillary Restaurant was closed. They had very little staff on. Our room was serviced at 5pm every night. We were out all day and wanted to go back to our room all nicely serviced. By the time housekeeping came round, we just grabbed coffee, tea, etc what we needed. We stayed 9 nights and our sheets were changed once.

We stayed for 4 nights as a family of 4. We loved the spacious 2 bedroom apartment. There was two toilets, a shower room and a room with a bath. The apartment had 2 balconies with Lake views.
The kitchen had full facilities and even an oven which we have found is missing from lots of hotels.
Service is fantastic here. The checkin staff are professional and friendly. The housekeeping staff are polite and serviced our room everyday. This includes beds made up, floors vacuumed, dishes done.
Our hotel stay included breakfast which was great value. It had cereal, fruit, croissants, muffins plus hot food including mushrooms, eggs boiled or scrambled, baked beans, bacon, breakfast sausages, hash browns and pikelets.
The breakfast room has great views over the lake.
There is free undercover parking at the hotel and we appreciated that.
The hotel is a 15 minute stroll into town and we mostly walked or used taxi’s as parking was hard to get in town and expensive. $4 - per hour whereas a taxi was $11 and Uber $7.50.
Would recommend this hotel to others and would not hesitate to stay again if we come back to Queenstown.

My wife and I were touring New Zealand, on a 15-day tour arranged through Travelmarvel by APT, and so all hotel arrangements were made in advance by them. For that reason, I have no idea of the cost of the room or how well the hotel communicates with customers making direct bookings. However, I can say that this was our favourite hotel of the ten we used on the tour. The view from our room was stunning, looking directly cross Lake Wakatipu to the mountains beyond. The walk into town is pleasant and relatively short, but if the weather is poor, or you simply prefer not to walk, there is a shuttle bus into town which leaves from the nearby Millennium Hotel every hour. The Millennium is only a five- minute walk from the Copthorne Lakeview.
Our room had a large terrace, with a great view across the lake, as already mentioned. The bed was large and comfortable, and the room also had an iron & ironing board, hairdryer, fridge, television and a safe. Breakfast was very good, but the restaurant was very busy every morning. That wasn’t surprising, given that our tour group was large and there were other guests in the hotel. There were some signs of age in the hotel, but nothing that would stop me from recommending it to anyone planning a stay in Queenstown. I will attach photos to this review to show the room and the views from our terrace.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for two nights. It’s only a short walk to the town centre. Room was very spacious and clean. Reception staff very friendly. The breakfast was a very good price half the price a lot of hotels were charging and good selection of foods. The views of the lake side were amazing scenery absolutely stunning. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in a 2 bed apartment which was very spacious, clean & comfortable. Views from the private balcony of Lake Wakatipu & The Remarkables was stunning. Kitchen well equipped, bathrooms very clean, great showers. If you don’t mind walking, it is about a 15 minute walk into town, otherwise there is a bus at the front door. The only downside is the second bedroom was quite stuffy as the window did not open & there is no air con or fans.

My husband and I stayed for two nights on the third floor in a great room with Lakeside views. The room was very comfortable, the decor of the hotel a little tired but did not detract from our stay at all. Bed was very comfortable, our room was very clean. We had sparse tea, coffee, cups, toiletries, but just sufficient for our use. No herbal teas though if you prefer them. The room was quiet and perfect for our stay. We went to breakfast in Hillary's restaurant, which was pleasant, cooked and non cooked variety of food, great view too. Played pool in the bar which was fun. They looked after our luggage after a nice late check out which was helpful. Staff lovely, prompt and friendly. 12 minute downhill walk into town, but there are bus stops right outside the hotel. Just buy a $5 Bee card and top up, Bus rides even out to Arrowtown are only $2 each. They have car parking in their garage if you have a car. Thanks for a lovely stay..

Yup they are! Even though they’re not mandated too or included in the groups requiring it to operate!
I stayed here 2 days ago parking is free but limited as the staff have said first in first served
There are 2 levels of parking 1 level the upper has maybe 8-9 parks
Lower level has about 20-25 spaces these parking levels are not closed off but I'm assuming there are cameras for security
Entry is through side street
There is acess to reception from parking garage
Best to check their website for check-in and out times. Most accommodation in New Zealand has a check-out of 10-00am
Thanks all. Been there, used it, and back home now.
Rata for fine dining. Madam Woo for Asian fusion. Bespoke Kitchen for breakfast. Fergburger for burgers. There's heaps of restaurants in town, I would just walk there and get a taxi back. The hotel has its own restaurant but I never tried it.
