Julien on Reception could not have been more personable & welcoming, & greeted 2 hassled OVERSEAS travelers ( Yes we are back !! ) fresh off a late evening flight with reservation problems ( my mistake ) but the hotel opposite could not be woken up at 8:30 pm!! to help resolve issue. Holiday Inn directly opposite was alive, bar, dining available ... thanks Dansell for organising a late night meal & drinks. Room was terrific & rate was better than first expected. So far all 5 Star. Of course we returned 2 weeks later prior to a very early flight out. Julien, Dansell & Cartoon were superb ... take a bow guys.
This was a last minute trip. Arrived at night and they were very accomodating. Room was just what we needed with everything we needed. Basement parking and on-site gym was useful. The breakfast great at Giants downstairs too
I stayed here for 7 nights just now, mainly to requalify for IHG Spire under the current post-COVID rules. A room rate of $90 per night is unheard of in Queenstown, and I was able to pay a little more for 5,000 bonus points on top of that, so I could hardly resist! When I checked in, I was informed I had been upgraded to a mountain view room, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the first room I was allocated faced the sun, and the temperature inside was 27°C, which the A/C just couldn't deal with; it was still 27°C+ an hour or two later. I had to ask to move rooms to the other side of the building. After that, I was happy, but this issue is not going to go away. Hotels in warm places need to install enough HVAC capacity such that rooms are not turned into saunas. The TVs have Chromecast, so you can view your own favourite content. This would be nice, if it worked. It doesn't. This service is provided by getstreaming.tv, who have a help number you can call if you're having problems. However, the number is unavailable from NZ. The room service menu should be available on the room TV, but it isn't. Either sort this out, or place a printed menu in the rooms. So, now the positives. Super friendly staff; great customer service. Very pleasant rooms; super comfy beds. This property sets the brand standard for Holiday Inn in NZ; all the other current Holiday Inns are repurposed hotels that used to be owned by the NZ gummint or goodness knows who, back in the day. Wish I could rate 5*, but it's 4* due to the teething troubles.…
Brand new hotel, with everything looking top notch. 'Mountain view' room / bathroom were well appointed. Breakfast was excellent, and staff were very helpful in storing our bags whilst we did the Milford Track. Convenient for airport if you have an early or late flight. Will certainly try and stay next time we're flying in or out.
Compared to the other Queenstown hotels, it has large space and new facilities. Like the adornment of toilet. The hospitality and service of the hotel staff was great and we were quick to check in even when we arrived late at night.
