The room we got was nice and spacious, with a separate lounge area with the view of the lake. The Hotel is located across the lake from the town, but offers a shuttle boat service across the lake into the town area. It's a very scenic ride though. There's an asian restaurant in the hotel that serves, surprisingly, pretty authentic Korean food. Very friendly staff too.
Earlier this month, I booked a stay at the DoubleTree, but got to stay at the main Hilton hotel next door instead. What happened? This hotel is actually closed. The Hilton website is still taking reservations for this hotel, but when you show up, you'll find the hotel doors locked. Signs point you to the Hilton. The check-in team told me they are essentially upgrading all people who book at the DoubleTree to the main Hilton hotel. So for now, if the Hilton website continues to let you book a room at the DoubleTree, you'll get discounted access to a room at the five-star Hilton hotel. I checked, I saved $84 dollars per night.
We stayed in Hilton Queenstown 5 nights. We had really amazing, spacious room - apartment with fireplace and beautiful view. Room and bathroom were v clean. Room service might be a bit faster as we had to wait more than 1hr for food. Also once we experience 30-40min queue to have breakfast. Sauna was quite small and old-looking. Other than this, everything was perfect and we would probably come back.
The best thing about this hotel is that the rooms have kitchenettes, including a very small oven. Very close to Jacks Point Golf Course and Kelvin Heights golf course, only about 15 minutes to Millbrook golf course. You do need transport to stay at this hotel, it is not close to downtown Queenstown. Very close to two very large shopping complexes, but not really tourist shopping. If you are travelling by car you should pay the extra for a car park as parking around the hotel is minimal and could require a long walk, especially with luggage. Several restaurants in the complex also a small deli which sells basics ie bread and milk.
Great modern well equipped hotel in a great location a bit out of Central Queenstown. Rooms more than adequate and very modern. Breakfast was excellent. A good pub serving excellent food just across the road and a good Chinese restaurant next door
