I usually stay at another well known hotel closer to town but thought that I would give the Hilton a go. Checking in was good with friendly staff but from then on things started going sideways. I checked in around 12ish with just enough time to order in some room service for lunch which I then waited for… and then had to leave for an appointment before it turned up. Disappointing especially as I had explained my time constraints to the lady at the end of the line who then checked with the kitchen that everything was ok… they reported they could get the sandwich up to me in 20 minutes…. So after 45 I had to leave and headed back to work hungry. Hey… stuff happens… so after work I headed back to the hotel and tried to call room service… no answer. I tried 4 or 5 times and just let the thing ring. Nobody answered. Eventually I had to walk to reception to place my order at the front desk. Not happy. Then the food arrived… it was ok ($12 for soggy chips) but of course they still charged me for room delivery… no discount for having to leave my room and place my order at the front desk. Right. So now… I’m suitably annoyed and figured that I needed to relax. I look in the bathroom which is well appointed, spacious and has the all the right bits and pieces and a lovely sized bath. So I run the water and note that there isn’t much in the way of hot water. I turn the tap all the way across so only hot water is running and guess what… the water temperature is tepid… not hot enough to comfortably sit in once you’ve run sufficient volume. So I call the front desk to check whether there is an issue that can be fixed. I’m told that they will send someone right up… and guess what… 30 minutes later I find myself back at the front desk seeking help as I got another no show help-wise. I am then taken to another room and note that there is no hot water in that room either… after which nothing can be done about the issue. I won’t stay here again. The rooms are great, views good etc etc… but can’t bring you food or offer a decent hot shower / bath. The rooms are not cheap… but the service is.…
An excellent hotel with a great lakeview, and mountain. The staff at the restaurant were amazing in particular Ana thank you. 😍 I can’t wait to come back again. I appreciate how all the staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend staying here!!
The restaurant staff were amazing! We went here for our elopement and honeymoon and the restaurant staff went above and beyond to make us feel special. We got given the yummiest slice of cake on our honeymoon morning with a cute message written in chocolate. Also, the restaurant is DELICIOUS. The breakfast just has the basics, but they are all done PERFECT - hashbrowns, poached eggs, cooked tomatoes, bacon, ETC. and we had dinner there that was PERFECT. The relaxation room had the private hot tub that we loved. It was the perfect temperature. We loved our time here. Only a few negatives: There was some mix up with the house keeping but the hotel was sorry and more than adequately made up for it. There isn't anyway to get food after 10PM even on ubereats! We arrived from our light just before 10PM and asked how we could order food, but weren't told of the 10PM cut off which meant that we went to bed on our first night very hungry! We wished that cut off had been made clear so we could have ordered food! The restaurant staff are AMAZING but the front desk staff not as amazing. The location is not central but there is a subsidised ferry that goes to town that is $5PP return. It comes every 1 or 2 hours. An uber is about $30-$40 which is a bit pricey if you miss the ferry. We did think the location was worth the distance though. We were on the ground floor right next to the lake and did our First Look on our wedding day just outside our hotel room. It was gorgeous. We had a honeymoon massage at Eforea which was lovely and all the staff are amazing. The only negative we have to say is that the music choice was REALLY not relaxing (Jurassic Park theme song 3 times in a row in different versions) and it was played on an ipad which meant the quality of the sound while we were having our massage was also jarring.…
We booked 3days at the hilton resort and spa for our honeymoon,it was fantastic, the room was well appointed, the gas fire is cosy as, loved our balcony, found the staff to be just the best shout out too Hannah, the buffet breakfast is the only way to start your day, early evening sit outside with a wine in facing the lake at the bar, finish off with dinner at the Wakatipu grill.. We used the water taxi to get back and forth,so much fun..... Cant wait to return..
This stay has been the worst experience I’ve ever had in a hotel in my entire life. I have stayed at the Hilton Queenstown many times, more than I can even count. For a start, the electric fireplace in the room didn’t even work so we had to move rooms late at night which was a major inconvenience as we had already unpacked. The room had a heating system but at these prices you expect things to work properly. Next, our first dinner at the Wakatipu Grill (onsite restaurant) was crap. The pasta was so bland but tasted so strongly of garlic that both of us were sick that night and the following morning. Our clothes stunk of garlic, so did our skin. Disgusting. We received a partial discount on our bill but that’s it. Next, I returned from the pool to our room (in bare feet having just been swimming) to shards broken glass all over the floor right outside our door. We had not ordered any room service or left and glassware near our door and our room was situated at the end of a row where no other guests would have been. It seemed very suspicious and I cut myself badly on the bottom of my feet. This was cleaned up after being called in but nothing else was offered. I had to call the front desk to even have our room serviced one of the days because it was forgotten completely. We came home from a full day out and things were still as we left them. On top of that, after checking out we went back to the Wakatipu Grill to give it another chance for some lunch. We ordered the fish wraps. The portions were not as described when we asked, they were soggy and fell to pieces as we picked them up and they were just gross. Upon letting the staff know at the bar, he began to argue with me over it and turn it around on me. There was no offer of a replacement or something else and we left upset. This was overall just a shocking stay that ruined what was supposed to be a nice anniversary trip away. We’ve left annoyed, feeling ripped off and hungry before our late flight. I never thought I’d be leaving a review like this for a Hilton Property but I won’t be staying at this property again and will be recommending against it to anyone who asks.…
