We chose this place for its location and free car parking.

We stayed in one of the motel units, the unit had a double bed and 2 double bunks in a separate bedroom, It was not fully serviced thought cleaners came through everyday and towels were changed. You could not cook in the room though they had a large communal Kitchen 5 doors down, we enjoyed breakfast there 3 morning and never saw anyone else. There was a good token operated Laundry $4 for a wash and the same for a dryer. The place itself has parking for 100s of holiday homes/caravans and is very much geared up for mass tourism with a large emphasis on advertising and selling excursions.

It is close to town but uphill most of the way to get back the last couple of nights we paid $10 for a taxi ride to save the walk back.

Motel generally good 1 or 2 issues with cleanliness brought to the attention staff when we checked out.

Good priced option close to town with great views would stay there again.

We stayed in one of the motel units, # 19, which was on the 2nd floor. Most of the lodging here looked like camping spots. The room had a view of some of the town, but not the lake. Pretty basic room – full size bed and set of bunk beds in the room, table, fridge, but everything was clean. Shower pressure was great, but only provided 2 large bath towels, no hand towels or wash cloths. This place did have a ceiling fan, so between that and having the windows open, it was the first place where we didn’t feel too hot sleeping. Slept well.

You could walk downtown from here, although it is uphill on the way back. There is a cool cemetery right next to it that had some old, photogenic tombstones.

We took advantage of the offer to use a campervan to trip around the south island.

We booked for 'pay for 2, stay for 3' in the small print is of the cost of their regular charge, not of their advertised price currently. It worked out $149 for three nights, about average for other camp sites (full charge per night), we had encountered. (I questioned this with reception).

Disabled facilities were good, a separate key for the bathroom. Only thing was that the tap is labeled up wrong for the shower, (red is cold and blue is hot) reported this to reception.
Great location, probably why we chose this over any where else being so close to town.
Great kids play area, good kitchen facilities and laundry.

We stayed at the campsite for 4 nights.

The selling point is the location - 2 minutes to the gondola and a 10 minute walk into the center of town.

Negatives are the wifi does not work in any area and the campsite is very busy. I had to queue to use the laundry facilities and I counted 39 other people in the kitchen (which gets VERY noisy).

We had seen a big sign on the entrance saying FREE PARKING, which you assume might be a perk of being a guest. Check out was at 10am and we asked if we could park somewhere until midday as we had an activity booked on our last morning. The manager told us that it would cost us $10. When we questioned the free parking sign, she said that because we didn’t book the activity with them, we wouldn’t get it for free. Having planned our trip months before arriving in NZ, we had booked the activity directly with the company before we ever arrived in the country. It was only upon leaving that we read that $10 was the price for a half day of parking, so the manager could have even offered to meet us half way at $5 as we were only wanting to park for 2 hours. It leaves a sour taste in your mouth when your 4 nights of custom doesn’t feel valued at all.

At the point of staying at Lakeview, we had travelled all over NZ for 5 weeks and it was the most expensive campsite we stayed in by a long way. With the benefit of hindsight, I would have spent a few dollars more and stayed at Creeksyde, just down the road. My parents stayed there and they had a lovely, calm experience and were allowed to park for those extra two hours for free.

We stayed two nights in our campervan so as to have a bit of time in Queenstown. It was relatively expensive at $60+/night, but for a central Queenstown location it is very cheap! The pitches are quite tight, but so what? The facilities block is very modern and very clean; plenty of showers and loos on this busy site.
It is literally a ten minute walk into town (albeit uphill on the way back) and not too taxing. Excellent.
All in all it was exactly what we wanted and is highly recommended!

After being recommended Lakeview Holiday Park by a family member of one of the staff, it was our first pick when we booked a winery tour in Queenstown and needed somewhere to stay in our campervan overnight. As we have been travelling in our campervan just short of 3 months over the length of NZ, we know it is not always possible to check in to a campground early. Even though we have had no issues anywhere previously, we are aware that campgrounds have varying policies, so we did our due diligence and called up a day prior to ask if it would be alright to turn up before 10am, to check in and park up our campervan prior to the winery tour. The lady on the phone advised that there were plenty of sites available and the office would be open at 9am, so to come there in the morning. When we arrived at the campground the next morning we were given a less than friendly welcome. The lady behind the counter seemed irritated with us from the moment we walked in, she proceeded to advise in a very unfriendly manner that we would not be able to check in until 11am. I was surprised at this as we were given contradicting information over the phone, but it was too late to find another campground before our tour, so we had no choice but to proceed. We were offered to park the camper at a car park outside the camping ground, which was our only option by this stage as it was clear we weren’t going to be allocated one of the many vacant sites until after 11am - however it meant that one of us could not enjoy all of the wine tastings on our tour as we would have to come back later in the day and be able to move the campervan in to the campground. This is why we called ahead to ensure we would be able to check in early and enjoy our day. After paying for our site we requested to at least just use the facilities to have a quick shower, to which we were given a sharp no. To add insult we were then told in a somewhat accusing manner “don’t even try to go up there and get into the bathrooms”. Frankly, this made us feel quite belittled. Had they told us over the phone that it was going to be impossible to check in early, we would have went elsewhere. I am disappointed, but also quite shocked at the entire debacle. After staying at near to 50 campgrounds over New Zealand on this trip, this was by far the worse experience we have had. I would suggest they make it clear on the phone for future customer enquiries that their policy is strictly no check ins before 11am, it would save a lot of hassle for all parties involved. Perhaps a little friendliness from the staff members wouldn’t go astray either.

Wish I had read some of the reviews on here before booking this place - the unprofessional nature and tone of the "Management" responses to a number of complaints here is appalling.

Stayed in a one bedroom studio which was tired and dated. The room was cold and damp and came equipped with its own dehumidifier and a note asking for it to be left on as much as possible. The curtain on the door was damp and dirty. The thin bed sheets were torn, the bedding was cheap and there were insufficient blankets for a stay in winter. The heater in the room was inefficient and only served to take the chill off the room rather than provide any actual heat. We found ourselves avoiding going back to the unit even after we had finished all our activities for the day.

This place is seriously over-priced for what it is and some real investment is needed to bring the units up to an acceptable standard. There are far nicer places to stay in Queenstown for a similar price - this place seems to be sweating the asset as much as they can.

We paid $160 for Cabin 11 and were treated to a room with furniture from the local op shop, a television which did not work, and a dripping toilet.

When I complained to the manager that this was way over priced for the quality of the room the response was, and I quote "this is Queenstown". When I pointed out that we had stayed at the Scenic on the way through for $109 with a fully functional room that was modern, he was unapologitic for the rorting they are doing.

Oh, and a great cancellation policy. When we decided we would not put ourselves here again in 3 days time there was no refund.

STRONGLY advise you to visit Booking.com and you will find many places which are cheaper, nicer, and have a reasonable cancellation policy.

We do appreciate all feedback and thank you for your review. It is however important that all reports here are true and accurate for sites like this provide a reliable service to the public. It is misleading to quote a portion of the managements discussion. Unfortunately Christopher booked prior to new management take over which has seen a review and changes of all our prices and cancellation policies which are now much more suited to the fluid domestic travel market. You can now find our prices as some of the best value for money in Queenstown at just $30/person for 4 people in one of our self contained cabins. All our units furniture is purchased from quality hotel suppliers and the park is in an exciting time of refurbishment as we move forward from the pre-covid overload of visitor numbers to Queenstown. We were made aware of the TV issue which was a brief outage to all our cabin units due to a cable being inadvertently pulled out. The problem was resolved within an hour. Had Christopher not not been rude and abusive not only to our staff but other guests at our park we could have offered not only the updated price for his room but worked together for a suitable outcome for his cancellation.

You can see why its so popular - the proximity to town and experiences such as the Gondola can't be beaten. Shame its gone the way of so many others - being sold for development. We stayed in one of the 'motel' units and these are adequate but we noted the absence of basic things such as a toaster. In saying that there are excellent shared kitchen facilities. One thing I hate is bathrooms that aren't provided with face cloths - just add a buck or two a day and provide them!

We were there for 24/25th December, so expected it to be busy, but we were packing like sardines. There are 260-ish pitch sites, with about 2metres between some, we arrived to have a clothing line from a neighbor across the back of what was technically our pitch. So don't expect any quiet privacy in peak season.

Shower/toilet facilities were average. DIdn't use kitchen or laundry, but kitchen seemed popular with people. Could do with another dump station in a different location as it got crowded on check-out, with vans blocking the roads.

Good location to explore on foot - 30 seconds from skyline gondola, 2 minutes from town centre. Which is why we chose it.

The stratosfare restaurant is on top of Queenstown hill/mountain and while you can walk up ( would take severl hours) the Gondola cablecar terminal is on the opposite side of the road from the holiday camp, so maybe 2 minutes walk and the the cable ride up whi h takes about 10 minutes. Queenstown is a very safe town to walk around at night but it is a party town so there are always people on the streets and it can get a bit noisy later at night
