Nestled within walking distance of Queenstown's city center, Ramada by Wyndham Queenstown Central garners praise for its cleanliness and contemporary atmosphere. While its location is favorable, guests caution that it sits atop a steep hill. The rooms, equipped with kitchenettes and laundry facilities, receive mixed reviews; they are modern yet some find them cramped and noisy. Despite the friendly service, the perception of value is marred by high prices and basic offerings. Additionally, the hotel's limited amenities and occasional service mishaps have not gone unnoticed by visitors.

Ramada room looks smaller than I had expected. We stayed in the Studio apartment with washer, dryer, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and just a home away from home unit. Reception staffs are friendly, helpful and nice.

I requested for the ocean view and they upgraded it to us- thank you! I happen to be Expedia VIP+ member and got all the great perks including late check out... Till 12pm if I'm not mistaken. Anyway we did not check out that late as we were scheduled for a long drive to Mount Cook.

There's also NZD 20 discount Expedia VIP+ for parking but it's only one time but doesn't count by days. If we were given the daily rate we would have taken the offer. NZD 45 parking for a night is their only downside. Later on we realise most hotels in Queenstown are pretty much charging such rate for parkings due to the design of this town with really limited parking spaces. We parked by the street just a short walk from the hotel..

Rooms were beautifully renovated, everything is still very new (hopefully they will maintain it). Looking at some of their one bedroom units, it is probably better than the studio as it is much more spacious. The studio unit is a little too smallish.

The only downside I thought apart from the parking is the distance to town. Although it is 300-400m walk but it's downhill towards town, and uphill again towards the hotel and takes approximately 10 mins? Sofitel is a much more centrally located hotel - literally just walk out and shops and food are there. The reason I picked Ramada is because none of the hotels in town has all amenities, especially washer and dryer. It wasn't really because of the location so it depends on what you are looking for. You will need to walk if you're staying in Ramada as parking spaces in town is limited / short parkings / paid parkings. We didn't have issues walking as we were fit enough to do the short distance.

Given a choice I would stay here again because of the amenities offered in the hotel, but if I don't need it I will choose something like Sofitel or anything else in that area.

Sophia, my checkin person, has been lovely and assisting me in questions about my room, the town, etc. Very friendly and knowledgeable.

Location is a quick 5 minute walk to the center of town and prime if you have a lake view room. Rooms themselves are spacious, with a kitchenette and large washroom. My favorite part is the washer-dryer, as hiking gear gets dirty - you're able to clean it.

Overall I would stay here again. Good rate, nice staff, good rooms.

The hotel is just a short stroll from the town centre but be aware it is an uphill walk to get back, although not too steep.
The room was clean and modern and loved that it had a washer, dryer and dishwasher. I could have sworn I booked a lake view room however got a street view. On checking the confirmation it doesn't state if it's lake or not, so I just let it go.

Where things could be improved is our room was serviced inconsistently. Some days we didn't get our towels replaced or dish cloths. They'd take the dirty ones but not replace them, so we'd have none or one. Some days housekeeping fidnt arrive til 2 or 3pm, so we just asked for fresh towels and the rubbish emptied. This meant the linen wasn't changed during our stay. We got the option on day 3 but we'd been out all day and tired so said dont worry, cause we didn't want to leave. I know Queenstown is understaffed too though so it wasn't a huge deal to us. I write this to let you know don't have huge expectations.

There is limited street parking, and we found it difficult sometimes when we left and came back to find a park, so ended up paying for a park underneath for $25 a night. The street parking is free after 6pm and before 8am but again you're not guaranteed one on your return.

Staff were great and friendly from the front desk to the cleaners.

Overall I'd stay again, just making sure I booked parking and checked the room confirmation.

We had a fantastic stay at the Ramada Central Queenstown, we stayed 2 nights and found it very warm and clean with friendly and helpful staff. The location is fantastic as you can stroll into the Queenstown township within a couple of minutes and they also have a small gym with new equipment as well as a bar and dining options.

We then left and moved to what was meant to be a very fancy resort for the next 2 nights - our experience there was nothing short of a nightmare with cold food, unclean rooms and a freezing establishment in general. We called the Ramada back and asked if we could return to them - this was at 8pm, we dealt with Kalai and he was extremely helpful, he even put us back into our original room at the Ramada which was a blessing to return to. We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking at staying in central Queenstown.

Friendly, efficient and welcoming staff in a clean well located hotel made for a relaxing one night stay. Although my room fronted busy Stanley St, I wasn't disturbed by traffic noise.

There is valet parking available for around the NZ$40 mark but there is also free parking available in the surrounding streets. Enter off Stanley St. There are a few limited time parking bays to allow check in/out and the one way circular drive takes you back out onto Frankton Rd if you are going to street park.

A 10 minute stroll puts you at the waterfront (up hill on the return) but if you don't want to step out, there is a bar and restaurant on site. Unfortunately, charge back facilities are not available, so take your cash/card/wallet/purse.

This was one of the worst experiences of 25 years of international travel. I arrived to discover that they would not clean your room because of alleged COVID concerns. Apparently staff might catch the virus from us by cleaning an empty room more than from the dozens of customers walking around the hotel without masks. This meant we were expected to make our own beds, clean our own showers and toilets, wash cups and glasses in the bathroom (without dishwashing liquid) and pick up rubbish off the carpet because staff are too afraid to enter the room because of Covid. The manager claimed that this approach resulted in cheap prices but the hotel actually cost more than most others in the area at the same time. And they should be more honest in their advertising if they are offering zero cleaning services for lower prices. The reality is that they can’t get the staff they need to function as a normal hotel as evidenced by the desperate advertisements calling for staff in the lifts. I understand that COVID is a challenge but this hotel should be honest about the impact. Every other hotel in NZ had no problem dealing with it and being honest while this one was somehow paralysed. Hygiene is more important than ever during covid but you won’t get it at this hotel. Be prepared to clean your entire room for your own safety while staff and customers walk around with no masks. Please don’t stay here without accepting you are responsible for your own cleaning.

To say that this is a four star hotel is a gross exageration. The rooms are very tiny and then made even smaller by the internal supports taking up the whole window. The room was "serviced" daily but no vacuming or sheet change was done in the four nights we stayed there. It was not a cheap stay but when I complained that SKY Tv was not working; I was told that this had been switched off to save money during Covid. The bathroom was very very small with pocket sized hard towels and don't get me started on how thin and inadequate the toilet paper was... for a luxury hotel. If I hadn't paid in advance I would not have stayed and will not be again. The saving grace for the hotel is Frank's Coco Cabana restuarant and bar - supberb.

This hotel claims to be the flag ship of Ramada NZ. The location is reasonably good. I got a good work out walking up the hill from queenstown city center. The hotel is opposite the bus stop for the bus to the ski hills so convenient for my ski week. I booked several months ago through Booking.com. Check in was easy and the studio room, while sterile, was adequate. There is a 2-burner hob and microwave, which was adequate for brekky. Washing machine and dryer were convenient. Shower was good. Staff at the hotel are professional. Special thanks to Katrina and Jaamal. Despite these positive aspects of the hotel, I would never stay here again.

Hotels are expected to provide a daily cleaning service. I have a 7- day booking and the room was not cleaned for the first 4 days. One appealing feature of this hotel is that there is a fitness center. However, I did not use this facility. The failure to clean the room caused me to avoid the gym since I doubted that there would be sufficient cleaning of this public area and I worried about transmission of Covid or other infections.

I understand that there have been some staffing difficulties as a result of the pandemic. However, it is the hotel’s responsibility to provide the cleaning service and if they are unable to do so then at the very least they should advise and provide some form of compensation. The GM Greg Ewen did not agree. Indeed, he suggested that the hotel rooms have been discounted by 30% ostensibly as compensation for the lack of housekeeping. Nowhere on the web page does it indicate that housekeeping services are minimal. If I had been advised a priori I would have booked one of the other of the hundreds of hotels in Queenstown. Mr Ewen did not seem to think that compensation was appropriate but he instead offered to allow me to check out (before 3:00) on the fifth day of my 7 day stay during the school holidays. Clearly that was not a viable option, as Mr Ewen must have been aware.

There are hundreds of hotels in Queenstown that are desperate for your business now that tourists are coming back. Choose one of those.

We booked the hotel via intermediate website, despite our extensive research it was for all hotel and for this hotel it was already expensive for a 2 bedroom accommodation. Upon arrival we were then made aware that we would be charged for the crib/ baby cot we had asked during the reservation. which was really surprising as it was never mentioned on the booking site that additional fees would apply when asking for this material in the room. by contacting the website we booked with they let us know that the official website of the hotel does not mention any additional charge either, nothing at all. So we were basically under their mercy to charge whatever they want because we needed one. do not go there as they might charge you some random fees for something not advertised on their website. We have lodge a complaint with the fair trading of NZ. Also when asked to talk with the manager it took her three days and several request with receptionist before able to meet with her.

We stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment and overall were very happy with the standard of the room and the location of the hotel. I note some recent reviews are very critical of the hotel, but I think the main reason for this is the critical staff shortages that are affecting all of Queenstown at the moment. You literally can't pass a single bar/restaurant/shop/hotel without seeing a sign out the front advertising for staff. I've never seen anything quite like it. As such, service provided by the hotel was very limited. If you can "look after yourself" you will be fine at this hotel, but if you are expecting a 5-star service experience then you will be very disappointed.

Before booking I was worried about the location in relation to downtown Queenstown, but this proved not to be an issue. You do have to walk up a big hill on the way back, but it's perfectly manageable and did not distract from our visit. When heading into town makes sure you take the side exit of the hotel and walk down Frankton Road past the gardens (do not exit the front of the hotel and walk down the main road). We got parking with our stay and I would say this is essential as street parking around the hotel is very limited. My advice to anyone travelling to Queenstown at the moment is to adjust your expectations when it comes to service wherever you are going. They simply don't have the staff and you have to be patient with almost everything. Having said that, we had a fantastic holiday full of unforgettable experiences.
