The hotel needs some TLC as it is a little rundown but perfect for staying with children as you didn't have to worry they were going to wreck anything! The ten pin bowling was a big hit with the children and we had a great couple of games on our second night there. Just 5 minutes outside of Queenstown and not far from Arrowtown too. The Shotover Jet was only 2 minutes down the road so really handy to everything. Would definitely stay here again with the children.
We came here a little concerned about some of the reviews we'd read - our experience says they were very unfair. We found our room to be excellent, and with some of the special deals on at the moment, this place was top value for money. But it is a little unusual. You are a 5km drive out from Queenstown (we chose this deliberately for parking etc) on the way to Coronet Peak. Great. Reception is entertaining! You go in the front doors, past a video games room, and enter the bowling alley - which also doubles as hotel reception. Weird - but otherwise everything was fine. Our deal included a continental breakfast, delivered to the room, and it was plentiful - more like a lunch. Big comfy bed, shower pressure was ok. And the location of the hotel is great - right across the road from a pub/bistro, an excellent wood-fired pizza pop up, and the lovely onsen. We would stay here again happily.…
I do not recommend this hotel due to the poor service. Cleanliness was good but cold room with noisy heater turning on and off through the night. Only one lady on the service desk to help everybody. Would not recommend
We just came back from an amazing 4 nights stay during one of these quiet covid period-after recent lock-down in Auckland again. Yes - things are quiet / breakfast is quiet / shuttle service is a bit lacking / hotel is oldish and far from city BUT this is all over Queenstown due to covid and every business is struggling - trying their very best. So - Swiss Bel-Resort is no exception BUT Our rooms were spotlessly clean and counter service is amazing Dhanu (Front Desk Manager) and her team is amazing and very obliging - had my dates changed numerous numerous times due to covid travel restrictions/flight changes and every change had been accommodated with no issues. I do not expect the hotel to have a full-time driver on standby when there is hardly any need (in these extremely quiet times) - bus is in front of hotel. We did get picked-up from the city (pre-arranged) on our arrival-amazing OK - breakfast is lacking but I do not expect the hotel to put on a spread or anything when there is hardly anybody or nobody staying with breakfast options - The chef did made us amazing omelettes etc from the A-la carte menu --- so consider it personal service and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast immensely-amazing One of the counter receptionist Cam even assisted us (2xold ladies) with transport to the airport on her day off (way beyond duty call) Again-this is covid times and it is reflected in every business thru Queesntown on all our tours etc either just the 2 of us or services cancelled I am returning 8/2021 and am sure breakfast/even shuttle services will be greatly improved with more people during the winter season/Trans Tasman travel opportunity. WELL let us all support them and am sure they will improve…
Customer service was not great, waiting for long periods of time to be served. Very average facilities. Not what we expected. Did not feel welcomed into the facility, overall a very average experience.
