Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice location and modern facilities. Great staff. Was disappointed with the view - I paid $900 a night for a gorgeous view as per the photos. I got the back of a carpark to the left and if you sat on the bed a lake view. Quite disappointing. Nice guy did bring me Prosecco and a bath bomb to cheer me up which was nice.

Hotel's Favourite
This was one of the best hotel room's I've seen in a while. Furthermore, the reception staff, specifically Jasmin or Yasmin (not sure how it's spelled), was incredibly nice and helpful. Thank you very much! The bed was very comfortable, and even though we were in an Alpine view room, with the road right in front of the window, we could barely hear any traffic. The bathroom had a double vanity, a large rain shower, and a bathtub with complimentary bath salt. They have Kevin Murphy products and a Dyson hair dryer. The hotel views are amazing, especially from the bar, where you can enjoy a complimentary beer or glass of wine. (Keep in mind, though, that not all of the beer taps are complimentary. We ordered without knowing and got a snappy reply from the bartender.) There is a breakfast buffet with loads of choices! From your traditional English Breakfast to poached eggs, fresh fruit, baked good, juices, muesli, and chia porridge. The chefs can also make you an omelet your way. There is limited parking on the street, but they have their own paid parking with plenty of spaces, just a bit tight to maneuver, depending on how other guests to park. Highly recommend this hotel!

Praise like this goes a long way. While we’re working hard to raise the bar every day, we love hearing when it’s really hit a high. Glad you enjoyed the little extras and luxury amenities ! We hope to welcome you back soon.

We had an issue with our room and the staff were great about accomodating our move to a better room. The rooms (other than the ones that look out on the parking) are awesome. Nice big bathtubs, clean and super friendly staff. I'm giving this experiene a 5 star because of the amazing staff and the room we eventually got.

This is a high quality, cool and funky place to stay. Staff are brilliant at the front desk. We had a king superior room over looking the lake. The view was stunning. Felt blessed to wake up to that view every morning and go home to it every night. Our room # was 1006, which they told us was the best room in QT. The rooms are quiet, modern, with enough space to chill in and spread out. The turn down service included a little love letter from the staff and anything ranging from an organic chia energy drink, chocolate, wine or a bath bomb. The bath is huge and very comfortable. The bar is particularly good. Great range of cocktails and whiskey so I was in heaven. There is a double wagyu burger on the menu which is to die for. Breakfast is also extensive with views over the lake while you eat your hand made vegie omelets and sip spirulina. Very accommodating staff on hand at the breakfast buffet. One day we didn't get our room made up by house keeping but I still want to give QT 5 stars as we loved our stay and would highly recommend it.

Chosen for its view of the lake and accommodation for a small business group on a private tour, this hotel is located in the middle of a bustling tourist town. Food and bar service the first night was unexpectedly poor, design of the rooms is bad. Main feature as you enter the room is a full martini set and two glasses on a small round copper topped side table next to a thigh high narrow wall counter, all too easy to knock over placement. No place to put or unpack clothes, small closet with doors that open into the walkway to the room, blocking the way and one of two luggage racks sized for a small handbag, lighting placement is bizarre and buttons illogical placement requiring clever treasure hunting to locate. Bathroom large with inconveniently placed and designed features, and no make up mirror. However they offer expensive assortment of toiletries, a high tech hair dryer that takes an engineer to assemble. The adapter we borrowed from reception helped me use the hair curler I brought but managed to burn the motor in a few minutes. Mattress is good, duvet tucked in half way down the bed so you can’t pull it up to chin level without tearing the bed clothes off. Overall design is for looks, impression and if you like super trendy and don’t mind the quirks, go for this place.

Nice styling in rooms. Good location - quick walk to town. Beds were comfortable. TV was good - could connect via Chromecast and play what I wanted. Disappointed though with quite a few housekeeping issues - I had higher expectations for a 5 star hotel (poorly made beds, toilet paper not replaced leading to running out, bin lids not put back on after emptying,) - no answer when calling reception for help regarding obtaining more toilet paper, meaning I had to go to the reception and get it for myself. Also had light pollution from external building flood light that was on all night and curtains unable to stop from coming into the room. I was also hoping to open the doors and catch the sunrise over the lake from bed - however with the flood light present this is unable to be appreciated. The Lake Views (more expensive tariff) partially obstructed by concrete carpark/roof as section of hotel I was in sits on the roof of a different building - not as per photos that are provided as example. Also would not recommend buffet breakfast. Paid $37 NZD and arrived at 9:10 (breakfast advertised as from 0600-1000). Breakfast is buffet style. Options were limited as kitchen was not making any more food, so had to select from what was left - a lot of things were empty.

QT Queenstown is probably really a 4 out 5, but it is a solid 5/5 in Queenstown. Honestly you're just not going to get a better big hotel in Queenstown at this price point and not when the entire town is running off seasonal workers. In the summer it's an easy 10 minute walk to the main part of town, and you get to the lower ground level down the elevator though the Rydges Hotel shortcut.

Did not expect a room facing the rear with road works to look at. Very noisy in the morning when cleaners started at 8am and let doors slam, which meant I couldn’t sleep in. Locked out at 9.55am, was loading my car and had calculated my time available. No parking for check in.

It’s Xmas and our top choices were all booked out so we decided to stay at the QT because the website looked attractive. We paid over 800$ including tax per night , quite extravagant but decided to give the family a special Xmas treat. We arrived after a long drive from Tekapo at around 6pm, greeted by a less to a friendly hostess who did not ask us if we needed any help with the suitcases or parking. She just took our car plate no. The carparks were tiny and we could not fit our 4WD into the only spot available, so had to park at curbside. Bell service seemed non existent we thought so we hauled our stuff ourselves - only to realise at check out there is bell service ! We got a room on 8th with a partially blocked view of the lake. There were many fancy accessories in the room and they must have spent a fortune with the Dyson hairdryer and the fancy bath tub, but they have ignored the thin and shrunken curtains that didn’t really do the job and so without the alarm, we were woken up by the light every morning at 7am. The kettle was tiny and could not be fitted underneath the tap without spilling. The room was tiny and no where to put our suitcases ( we needed a rollaway bed though). Breakfast was served at the Rydges and at 30$ per head we didn’t expect a lot. But on Xmas day, at 45min before end of breakfast service (10am), the trays were empty. The coffee machine was faulty and although there is a button called ‘latte’, it is deceptive. Several clients including me tried to operate this machine, only to be told by an impolite staff telling us to ‘add milk’ manually if you want latte. Then I asked the bar lady, only to be told that latte costs extra. I wouldn’t be in such disbelief if they let us know in advance or put a sign at the machine that latte is extra. There was the long queue at the egg station and the vegetables were burnt. The poor staff looked tired and obviously they were short staffed. We finally found a park that fits our car and were too scared to move it on Boxing Day in case we lost our spot (first come first serve). After paying 888$ per night I felt ripped off. Xmas dinner at the bazaar was v nice however but that’s not part of the QT. At checkout we met Anthony again who helped with our suitcases (he tried to ask housekeeping to stick the edges of the curtains together to block out the light but didn’t work, at least he tried) and tried to waive our in room dining (I declined this offer because it was not my intention for reporting my concerns) . We check in to the hotel next door St M, they charged around 700-750$ for a room, but the service and room ambience was 100% better. In short, my humble suggestions is Are to hire more good staff like Anthony, spent less money on non essentials, and spent more effort into details that make a stay more comfortable.
