Booked to stay at the Coachman Invercargill on their website in December 2021, to stay for 4 nights 13-17 January with my family (2 adults, 3 kids / aged 6,10, and 12). Turned up just after 2pm on 13th January, as per the instructions on my email confirmation. To my surprise they had no record of my booking, even though I booked on their website and had a copy of the email confirmation. Excuses about only owning the property for 5 months, but really - we booked from their website so they should have accommodated us. Not to worry, they said. They’ve got another hotel close by. Takitimu Homes. We turn up there and can’t believe our eyes - it looks like a rest home. A quick google search of the property doesn’t show it as a hotel, but as a “housing complex” that used to be a rest home. It actually looks a bit like a half way home. We go inside and see the lovely lady that said she can accommodate us but it’d have to be our last resort. I agree / my kids can’t stay there. Two hours of calling later (there was a big event in Invercargill, accommodation all booked out) we finally find a hotel that can fit all 5 of us. Reception was lovely and accommodating and understanding of our problem. 3 times as much as our budget but we were desperate by that point. In the meantime, the Coachman got off pretty lightly. I couldn’t bring myself to go back as I was so upset and didn’t want to cry in front of my kids about this situation. So if your feedback, Coachman Management, is that we should have come back - forget it. You told us you were full and gave us that ridiculous option to get rid of us. Never have I had a reservation that wasn’t honored. Shame on you Coachman. Now I’ve got to figure out how to pay the accommodation bill for the only other accommodation I could find last weekend.…
Every once in a while you come across someone truly amazing; Cherie is that person. Everything was booked due to the flooding. I had an early morning flight and was lucky to even get to Invercargil. I called and Cherie confirmed she didn't have anything but she offered to check around and call back. She had no luck and was sending out an email to other hotels for possible no-shows. When that didn't work she offered a room that was getting ready for painting. She called in a helper to make up the room, added a TV, warmed the kettle, and added cookies and sweets. This was 8pm! I cried and gave her a hug. She had no idea that we had been soaking at a campsite for a week in Te Anau, we had numerous detours because of overflowing rivers, or that I was leaving because my dad was literally dying. She was just a wonderful person being helpful. The room was perfect and warm and the bed; glorious. Picked up Chinese across the street at Ascot and that was great! I will never forget her and will direct anyone going to Invercargil to stay there or just say hi to this wonderful person if you're passing through.…
I had a night at the Inn on a work trip and was very happy with my unit... - very spacious with separate bedroom, lounge and full kitchen including a proper oven - car park right at my door - comfy bed - Clean and tidy - friendly staff
Arrived earlier than we planned but no problem and was shown to our room. Really nice, well presented with everything we needed. Lovely ladies at reception and cleaning staff even straightened up our poor attempt of bed making each morning. We picked a studio unit that was upstairs which was not an issue for us. Our room had a microwave, jug, toaster and was warm and cosy. Was great that our stay coincided with a craft show just down the road so managed to take home some treats. Would definitely recommend.
Arrived here and was amazed with the hospitality shown by all the staff - from beginning to end. Had a lovely upstairs unit, quiet and recently renovated. Couldn't have been better ... thank you! We will be back.
