Stayed at the Balmoral Lodge for a week and had a great experience. My accommodation, which was set over two floors, was spacious, quiet and contained all that I needed. The bathroom had a large spa bath and the kitchen area had a microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. Most importantly, a very comfortable bed. Staff all very welcoming and helpful. Good parking and laundry facilities on site. Invercargill city centre and well stocked supermarket a flat walk away. The location also allows easy access to the highway network. From the motel I explored the coast from Stirling Point to Curio Bay aswell as travelling inland for a visit to Queenstown. Fiordland was also within easy reach. Airport was an 8 minute drive away.

The motel is situated in a good location, its within a 15 minute walk of a lot of restaurants and the Countdown is within a 5 minute walk. The room I had was very spacious, comfortable and well presented. The check in process was very efficient. I would definitely stay here again

Good location on the edge of the town. Around 20/25 mins walk to the town centre, where the famous E Hayes shop with its large historic motorbike collection (inc Burt Munroe's bike). The lovely Queens Park Gardens are a similar walking distance

Plenty of restaurants (of various ethnic foods) in the town centre and area.

A whole road full of Motels but this was the only one with our dates.
We’ve stayed in a lot of different accommodation on our several month trip. This wasn’t one of the good ones. Dreary and dark interiors with old tired fixtures. There are lots of these about and it’s about time NZ owners got refurbishing. Quite noisy from the road and also a visitor in the roof above our bed was rather unpleasant. Apparently it’s mice , how wonderful to hear that from the reception staff.
Our biggest issue was the wifi or lack of it. We choose places that have this to keep in contact with the U.K. as phones can be expensive and drain your allowance. The free unprotected wifi worked on and off, even the tv lost reception and came up with a note saying no wifi. Asked for help and was given a password protected private wifi.Still no good, on and off it would go. Mentioned it at checkout and told there was little they could do but it was free. Hardly, all costs are included in your room rate. Also, if it’s so called free or otherwise and doesn’t work it’s no use to anyone. If a motel can’t provide this ‘basic’ service without a hitch then this needs highlighting. You advertise it then you supply it.
I suspect it has even and is an issue they fudge over as most people only stay one or two nights and put up with it.
Maybe the mice in the roof are chewing the router cabling 😳

Thank you for your feedback, it was nice to speak to you on checkout. We are refurbishing our rooms which was interrupted by Covid and this in an ongoing project for our business. We apologise for the reception staff’s light-hearted comment about mice we certainly do not have mice in our establishment. Your concerns about the Wi-Fi have been raised with our IT department and this is being investigated and the situation is being dealt with, although the alternative given was also not helpful, so thank you for letting us know. We do appreciate all feedback from our guests as there is always room to improve.

The motel is situated in a handy location, close to town, bottle shop, the supermarket and fast food outlets.Although on the main road, I wasnt disturbed by traffic noise.

Whilst it was a cold Invercargill night my room was warm and comfortable.
The rooms are large with a lounge, dining area and kitchen downstairs and the bedroom upstairs.
The room was very clean and the beds comfortable.
The staff were friendly and helpful.

We love this place, we have stayed here a few times and can not fault the place. We arrived Tuesday after coming through the pouring rain and road closures and when we got to our room it was lovely and warm. The room is very spacious, modern and clean. The staff are amazing. See you all next year.

Booked out 28 rooms for a sports team. The service was excellent, from initial enquiry to check out nothing was a problem. Rooms were clean, comfortable and warm. Very reasonable rate, would highly recommend. Will definitely be back. Thanks Balmoral for a seamless stay :)

We found the Balmoral to be clean, fresh, modern and friendly. The rooms were apartment style, very roomy and extremely comfortable, with everything at hand. Just a few minutes walk to the main street and close to shopping and restaurants. Would highly recommend it to anyone.
