This is a nice family run motel located off the main roads (unlike most motels in the area) so no road noise. I was in the Executive Suite and it was big - separate bedroom and open lounge, kitchen dining area. Unusual to have motel rooms this size. Lounge very comfortable & enjoyed Netflix. Kitchen was bonus. It is older NZ style but that doesn’t matter. Close to town/supermarket/Windsor shopping centre and walking distance to Queens Park. Some local takeaway menus in the info folder was a welcomed nice touch. The inky reason I’ve given 4 stars is the mattress is a bit old and tired. Lovely people here and I would stay again.

What a beautiful surprise. The owner is so helpful and our room is huge and like brand new. My husband found this one and it was like finding a little gold mine. Very happy . I would definitely recommend this motel to anyone . Being a two night stay there is so much room and it's fully equipped kitchen lets you save money on take away

We recently stayed in a 2 bed apartment and found it to be warm, clean, with modern decor, comfortable beds and the amenities we needed. The bathroom and shower were great!
Check-in and out were seamless, the carparking outside our room was very handy and the location was also handy to town.
The only (minor) thing I would recommend improving is that the door to our room was quite difficult to lock and unlock (needed a bit of jiggling about to get the lock to engage correctly, which meant the first time we left the room, we thought it was locked, but it actually wasn't)

This company quoted us one price on our room when we made the reservation and when we arrived we were charged another price. They added on a "junk fee" of 2.5%. They said it was a bankcard charge. We were given the choice of using our bank card or a pre-approved check, which of course we didn't have. During our trip to New Zealand we stayed at about 15 to 20 motels. None of them added on any "junk fees". We realize that the economy in Invercargill is not great, but this is an improper way to make money and we will not visit this motel again. We did contact the owners of the motel. They have yet reply as they said they would.

Misleading
We haven’t wanted to write this review however in fairness to other people considering staying they need to be aware they may not get what they think they are paying for.
The room we stayed in was NOTHING like the photos on the website. The website shows photos of beautifully modern rooms. We had a very old room which was extremely dated. The bathroom was last updated in the 1980’s and has a peach coloured Spa bath with a shower over it). it is high to get into so if you have any issues with mobility would be a nightmare. The mirror had a massive crack in the middle of it which ran from top to bottom. The heater blew cold air and the water pressure was awful at best (note fo don’t turn on the kitchen taps when someone is in the shower - the water goes cold)!!!!
The bedding is very light weight so we were pleased it wasn’t overly cold temperatures.
The owners weren’t around at any stage we visited the office over the 2 days we were there so never saw them to discuss. They weren’t there on our arrival or checkout. We didn’t arrive late or check out early.
Not double glazed so we were able to hear the boy racers with their cars for about 4 hours one night. Could hear the guests in the neighbouring room talking during the night both nights (11pm one night and 1am the next night)
The thing we are most disappointed in that the photos on your website are misleading and not an accurate representation of the room we stayed in.

Me and my family felt at home 3 bedroom accomadation all amenities incl. Big size Tv, Washing Machine etc...was modern, Top of the line Appliances, New feel and loved the Shower. Rooms decent size loved everything about it would love too get my house done like that.
Only downfall was King Size bed was Hard not my comfort overall lovely even the Reception lady.

The rooms here were very spacious, clean and tidy. The manager was very helpful and allowed us to leave our car parked while we visited Stewart Island for a couple of nights. We had two different rooms and both were large and comfortable. I would certainly stay here again if visiting Invercargill.

We selected the Colonial based on the trip advisor reviews. It surpassed all expectations - large, comfortable rooms, spotless, all the amenities we could ask for including kitchen, teas and coffee, access to a washing machine and a TV with Netflix. The manager was incredibly helpful and provided outstanding service. Highly recommended!

We stayed for two nights - exceptionally clean, modern and new on the inside. We stayed in the family unit (5 of us) - three bedrooms, very large lounge, kitchen and even a laundry. Room was serviced whilst we were out. Plain motel on the outside, but inside certainly made up for this.
