Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked in here through booking. Com, when we arrived we weren't made to feel welcome, had to wait for receptionist as there was no one at front desk. Smelt terrible in the lobby at the front desk of strong urine/cat urine. The lady wasnt wearing a mask and we weren't asked for vaccine passes. The room was advertised as a deluxe room, nothing deluxe about it, Bedding and towels looked shabby and unclean, carpet worn and dirty looking, two windows were open with no latches to secures these, felt unsafe. No jug, tea, coffee, milk or cups in room. I didn't even take my back pack off my back. We cancelled booking through booking. Com and left, no refund was given as the hotel was contacted by booking. Com and they claimed we used the shower and the towels, which we did not, not only unfriendly but untruthful people running this hotel This property did not give a good impression of invercargill.

Stayed 2 nights (Only because there was no where else to go) Room was alright nice deco, huge bathroom but that was the only thing nice. The place smelled like urine,we thought the carpet had been cleaned but smell lasted all the time we were there.
Lady at desk was rude.
Room wasn't serviced when I asked for fresh towels she wasn't pleased told me I should have put card out if I wanted my room done ( there was NO CARD) To put out
No cups in kitchen coffee machine didn't work, when I asked for cups she seemed passed off with having to give me cups
No rubbish bin In Room
All of this we could excuse BUT the whole time we were there none if the staff had masks on
The staff were out the back yard by our window playing booming music, even when we asked for it to be turned down they didn't
All in all bad service NO covid etiquette
We weren't asked for our Vacs Passport

Worst place to stay, my first ever negative review. Booked through booking.com. My husband checked in (I was meeting him later that night) He had to be at the hospital and needed access to the bath. When checking in (used his card but my account) he didn't had the pin number they wouldn't let him check in. He explained I was about to hop on the plane to meet him and they said he needed the pin (unfortunately I had missed calls from him) and he had to book elsewhere as he needed the bath. I rang booking.com and explain the situation and they said that wasn't on. They needed to contact the hotel and the hotel wouldn't answer or return their email contact. I went and spoke to them personally and they said yes they will respond so I could get my refund... didn't happen. I went and saw them the next day and reassured me but they hadn't. Out of pocket and unfair! lady was rude and it is rundown and smelly in the lobby. The staff are awful

As the previous review the hotel was still in renovation mode when we were there. A few issues with the reception, nobody there even after ringing the bell several times someone did eventually arrive only because the reception phone rang. Room was newly renovated, comfortable and clean. A few things needed attention no rubbish bin in the bathroom or room and nowhere to put your stuff in the shower, just the floor!
There is a downstairs communal kitchen I didn't go in but my partner said it was only average - unwashed dishes, full rubbish bins etc

We had a room at the back of the hotel which was good as it was a busy road at the front but the back rooms are close to the cattle yards so you can hear the cattle in a distressed state all night.

They really need to sort out their reception staff (get properly trained staff),
close the kitchen to guests until they can sort it out and maybe add a small fridge and tea-coffee making facilities in the room as a minimum.

The price is good for renovated rooms and only a short drive to Invercargill but stay there again......probably not.

We recently visited Invercargill and got stuck with booking the wrong sort of place. Thought it looked lovely in pictures but was not nice.
Phoned around and found it was Ascot Race day the next morning so Craig told us about the White House all being renovated.
Was her nice and comfortable.
THANK YOU SO MUCH

Arrived at about 9pm after confirming that someone would be there. Spent $40 in taxis to get there, waited an hour and saw no one. Called the owner who had no idea where his management were. Left to stay elsewhere. Didn’t feel safe. The sign saying no drugs or prostitution allowed was very concerning. Worst run place I have ever encountered

This is the worst place we ever stayed, well we didn’t really atay as was so disgusting that we left after hour!
Arrived and probably someone on probation having social worker at reception, nobody to welcome us for few minutes, room was so dirty, lights siding work and asked for heater and didn’t after they told us radiator was broken. People having discussions on room beside us with so much swearing ! Was a really unsafe place and scary! I don’t recommended to any decent person!!!!! Stay away!!!!!
