This was a good stay for us. The location is convenient, the owners were very helpful and friendly (even at odd hours), the rooms were quiet and spacious, and the accomodations were good. Having a kitchen was very handy and saved us a lot of money for breakfasts. Having a separate bedroom was great for two people who sleep at overlapping but different hours. The room was warm enough with the heater on. There was plenty of parking, which is necessary in Dunedin. The only shortcoming for me was that the bed was soft (my back wants a hard mattress). I took care of that by sleeping for a couple of nights on the single bed in the main room, which had a much firmer mattress. Located just outside the central CBD area, this motel was well presented with reception being both friendly and informative. Maps and locations to visit were provided by the owner. Room was well presented being clean and modern with parking on site.

We were part of a multi room booking as support staff for a major event. We could not have asked for better accomodation. Personally I was there for around three weeks. The owners are special people who are there to make sure you are looked after, very special people who are amazing hosts. If visiting Dunedin this is the only place to stay ( I have stayed at all the major hotels in Dunedin). It's a short walk to a huge variety of restaurants and bars so an ideal location.

August 2023 - Two night stay in the Amross Motel Dunedin. Perfect! Exceeded expectations. Super clean, everything worked, evident attention to detail in amenities and self catering gear. Close enough to central Dunedin to explore, away enough to be quiet. Several minute drive or Uber to ‘Octagon’. Hosts were very friendly and gave us great local information to efficiently plan our short but busy stay. I cannot say enough appreciation to the hosts for providing a comfortable and clean lodging for their guests! Not a luxury hotel - great smaller motel with a perfect room. Good Job!

Amross would have to be one of the best places we have ever stayed. The room was so clean, tidy, spacious with everything that we needed. I have never seen a bed made so beautifully! We were part of a larger work group and everyone was so happy with their accomodation. Barry and Donna (hosts) are fantastic people who you would, and did, go above and beyond to help out. Nothing was a problem. Plenty of parking, good laundry facilities, close to plenty of good food places etc. Highly recommended and will definitely return.

Parked up at this motel for 2 weeks whilst having to work in dunnerz. It turned out to be one of the best motels Iv used. Barry and Donna the hosts were xlnt nothing was a prob outstanding comfortable rooms awesome service if you were to pick then pick this place in my view you won't be disappointed bloody good show team

My daughter and I stayed recently in May at this motel. Because my daughter has a sleep apnoea machine we needed two bedrooms. Barry kindly gave us a unit upstairs which had a large possibly king size bed in one room and, in the lounge room, there was a single bed. Both beds were very comfortable and we slept well. Nice and quiet, no traffic noise. The bathroom with huge, the water was hot, towels were supplied every day. The unit was refreshed daily. New tea towels, detergent, shampoo. Spotlessly clean unit, had Netflix available as well as Sky TV. You could use the washing machine and dryer for four dollars, but we didn’t bother with that. I read somewhere that two of the units have washing machines in them. The kitchen had recently been refitted, microwave, hot plates, eating area of table and chairs. Handy location to stay in Dunedin, close to everything, warm and comfortable, parking on site. Very good experience at Amross Motel. Barry was most friendly and gave us some really good tips for places to see and where to have dinner for the one night we stayed in Dunedin. We had the one bedroom spa which was spacious, absolutely spotless, very comfortable with all amenities we could possibly need. Bed was superb and very comfortable and the kitchenette was excellent. The location was also perfect for an easy walk into town. Will definitely stay there again next time we are in Dunedin.

My wife and I took a self drive touring holiday on South Island New Zealand from the 17th March to the 11th April 2023. Apart from the first 2 nights and the last night where we stayed in a hotel in Christchurch we were self catering and stayed in accommodation that offered cooking facilities. I have reviewed each of the hotel/motels we stayed in. The following reviews cover the accommodation and some of the facilities/visits we made on the trip. If you would like to view the rest of the reviews please click on my username and all my reviews will be listed. We stayed at The Amross Motel on the 18th and 19th March. Welcome. The motel owner/manager Barry greeted us on arrival and presented us with some milk to make a cup of tea. He was very helpful and accommodating. He gave us a lot of advice regarding what to see and where to go. We were able to park right outside unit, so did not have to carry our cases too far. We had a small problem with our rental vehicle and Barry was again very helpful in sorting it out. Service. We were only there for two nights and did not have the room serviced. Location. The Motel is situated within walking distance of the centre of Dunedin. We walked in to the centre and around to the train station. It did not take long. Comfort. The room was a good size as was the bed. The bed was very comfortable. There was decent sized kitchenette with a microwave, fridge, hotplate etc. There was also a breakfast bar and 2 armchairs. Cleanliness. The room, bed and bathroom were very clean. WiFi, The Wifi was very good and I was able to stream UK TV programmes using a VPN on my laptop. Conclusion. Excellent motel, good facilities, nice and friendly owner. If we returned to Dunedin we would stay here again. …

The welcome was warm and the room was beautifully clean and well decorated. Everything worked as it should and we thoroughly enjoyed our comfortable two night stay. We had booked one of the rooms that had a washing machine and so we were able to do our own laundry, which when touring around for a while is a real bonus.
