Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel is a bit tired and could use an update. Our room and the one opposite both opened outwards so we had to take it in turns to come out! Weird. The shower was also a bit strange and you couldn't shower without soaking the whole bathroom floor. Everything else was OK, bed comfy and plenty of tea and coffee etc.

The room we stayed in has recently been upgraded it appeared. The parking was easy and about $15 per night. The hotel is easy walk to many tourist attractions, shopping centre. The hotel has a bar and restaurant. Prices are middle range and matches the quality of the rooms.

This is for the Well Manor Restaurant: The Seafood Chowder was absolutely lovely. The only complaint would be that the mussels should have their beards and tongues removed. In the end I took them out of the soup and did the beards and tongues. The large mussels should be at least cut in half.

Centrally located . Close walk to New World, eateries & the octagon. Spent 1 night here on business before moving to the Quest next door. Hotel is quite outdated. Glass door to the hallway where rooms were located was cracked. Room had a very unpleasant, old musky smell. My nostrils somehow got used to it over time. Bed had some white crumbs all over it. Looked like sugar. Air con was crap. It only blew out hot air which didn’t help the smell. Beds were very comfortable though. TV was great with a good selection of channels. Had a shower/bathtub in the room which was also great. Overall, besides the aircon & smell - it was okay.

We booked through a booking site and then I noticed that if I booked direct it was cheaper, I got a room upgrade and free parking. They are gradually upgrading the single glazing to double and heaters to heatpumps. The beds hopefully are next as ours was very soft. The shower took ages to get warm, but it's not our water bill. It's nicer than the reviews suggested so I think a lot of the upset is people paying more than it's worth. Very clean and serviced every day. A couple of tips for thd hotel about deluxe rooms. Don't have bins and hooks from the dollar shop

We stayed in old part. Very clean and great water pressure. 3 beds in room, very spongy and soft. Room temperature hot so had window open but noise from supermarket trucks unloading and night night party people made difficult to get good sleep. Shower over bath and shower curtain never a favourite thing ! Good value given you can walk to Octagon and shops. Never saw anyone in the restaurant which was strange.

The hotel was strategically located, near the city center of Dunedin. It was very close to a big supermarket and the Intercity bus stop. The room was alright. It was well kept. The staff members were very nice.

A hidden gem. The only downside: my sense of direction underperformed. Restaurant excellent. A small menu but everything on it perfection. Most comfortable bed ever experienced in a hotel. Fab friendly staff. Spotlessly clean. Very quiet. Only suggestion is more signage to find reception from rooms.

Pretty average hotel and very unattractive from the outside. Rather bland in decor and in service. My room had three beds!! The mattress was very soft. The TV station selection was not great either. There was however a walk in shower which was good. Breakfast which was included in my room rate was just okay. Plenty of nicer hotels in Dunedin.

Our recent stay at the Victoria hotel, Dunedin was lovely. The staff were so welcoming and friendly particularly Catrina who went above and beyond in helping us to feel orientated and ensure long we were comfortable. The room was comfortable for the one night and the supplied fan appreciated. The amenities were newly renovated and comfortable to use. Parking at this hotel was easy and secure.
