Detailed Reviews
Dave and Belinda were the best hosts I have ever had in a NZ motel. They accommodated us in every way. Belinda gave me fresh baked Chocolate chip biscuits, Dave offered to drive me into town to pick up my car. All these things exceeded my expectations. Very friendly and genuine people.
Our room was immaculate, warm and quiet.
I would give this stay an 11 out of 10.
Thank you for being our host.

Welcomed in one of the two room with non smoking sign not on the door, ashtray provided. We chose to make our own bed and not to require fresh towels everyday (3 night stay) we made sûre to dispose of our rubbish everyday. On the day of our départure we were told that it was à non smoking room ! We appologized in our confusion. 48 hours later we learned that our bank had allowed bookin. Com to withdraw 150 $ from our account. I called David, the manager to try and sort out the misunderstanding in à polite way. He chose to hang up on me within 40 second in à middle of my sentence. I feel so Hurt.

Thursday last week we were heading to Dunedin for a funeral, we were held up by heavy traffic.
We already had a confirmed booking at this motel, we rang half an hour before we got there to say we were running late for a funeral, could we collect the key and do the paper work later that afternoon after the funeral.
The owner of the motel was rude and unhelpful on the phone.
When we arrived the owner was rude again to my partner and tried to make her fill out the paperwork, my partner decided we did not have time and we left with the owner running after us shouting at us.
We rushed to funeral and had to get changed in the car park.
When my travel agent rang the motel to sort out what the problem was, he lied and said I had given him the fingers but all I had done was raised my hands in the air in frustration to his attitude.
We would recommend no one stays with this motel as the owner is obviously unstable.

Ruined when hotelier rang at eleventh hour at 8pm the night before travelling with a 6am start to say the hotel room we had booked in August through Booking.com and changed on the 25/08/16 for a larger room, when more family decided to come, and agreed a price with the motel, was too cheap and he had re thought it. It was a problem but easily solved if we paid more. Everywhere was now full so he couldn't do the room at the agreed rate. He said he would still do us a 'special deal' but it would cost $100 more, payable on arrival. He informed us the whole town was manic and fully booked for graduation and he could sell the room for $596 over and over again??? We had agreed $345 in August. He said that was because it was August and now it was December and everywhere was full.
This was wrong. It is so wrong I cannot believe I was put in this position and blackmailed into paying an extra $100, which we could not afford, because the hotelier was greedy. If you book early and agree a price this is a contract and should be upheld. I teach secondary Business and I will be stating my experience with this motel as what not to do to get repeat business.
I will be taking this further with qualmark, booking.com and the small claims court as this is SO wrong. To be told that this is the consequence of planning your holiday early and paying early by the hotelier is appalling.
1) Do not book this hotel early - last minute only
2) Do not trust the price agreed - it may change if the hotelier thinks he can get more from you.
3) I have the receipts, transcripts and dates of all communications with this hotel to confirm what I have said - I suggest you book elsewhere - where their word is their bond.
4) It is not walkable from town.
Sorry but don't want anyone else to suffer in this way.

We booked a double room for one night, the room was nice but bathroom was very dated! Upon going to the toilet in the middle of the night discovered water on the floor in the bathroom and kitchen area, found the source which was the toilet stoped the leaking and went back to sleep. In the morning when we checked out we told the owner and he went on the defence straight away very disgusted with his reaction will never stay at Pacific Park Motel ever again and definitely wouldn't recommend staying there to others.

Room 29.
Living area basic. Dirty stained carpet with torn areas around bed..
Bathroom worse with peeling paint from window. Very little cold water pressure in wash basin. Inadequate shower in this age.
Dirty derelict area at back of complex, presumably once a tennis court. N
Now home to weeds and a deserted boat.
Needs money and effort. Not up to tourist standards.

Due to changed circumstances, we needed to cancel this 1-night booking. This was a full month before the planned stay. We were told there was no refund, even though motels were all heavily booked in the area. They said it was a special discount deal - I said that I had no way of knowing that but they stuck with the "though luck" approach. After a lengthy "debate" they would offer me a free night at a later date - not very helpful - most travellers dont re-visit holiday towns every 6 months!! I just thought this was very poor service when so many people are trying to get accommodation - just no need to refuse refunds. We dont expect the Booking.com margin to be refunded but the rest should have been..
