Welcomed in one of the two room with non smoking sign not on the door, ashtray provided. We chose to make our own bed and not to require fresh towels everyday (3 night stay) we made sûre to dispose of our rubbish everyday. On the day of our départure we were told that it was à non smoking room ! We appologized in our confusion. 48 hours later we learned that our bank had allowed bookin. Com to withdraw 150 $ from our account. I called David, the manager to try and sort out the misunderstanding in à polite way. He chose to hang up on me within 40 second in à middle of my sentence. I feel so Hurt.

I stayed at this hotel a couple of times travelling for work from overseas. My job involves lots of travel, hence I am familiar with hotels and what is possible , or not. Most hotels in the world are quite accommodating when you need a late check-out, especially for a return customer. However, this is not the case at Pacific Park Dunedin. My flight out of Dunedin was late in the evening, however the owner/ operator told me that he cannot allow a late check-out as he is fully booked. This was clearly not the truth, as Booking.com was advertising available rooms for this hotel for the day. Adding to this, while the first day the included (very basic) breakfast was ok, the second day some of the components were missing, and the third day the full breakfast was forgotten! All in all , a very disappointing experience, never to return. My advice to fellow travellers: do not stay there, there are much better value , as well as welcoming and comfortable hotels in Dunedin, as I discovered when I checked-out and moved to a different Dunedin hotel for the afternoon.

Dave and Belinda were the best hosts I have ever had in a NZ motel. They accommodated us in every way. Belinda gave me fresh baked Chocolate chip biscuits, Dave offered to drive me into town to pick up my car. All these things exceeded my expectations. Very friendly and genuine people. Our room was immaculate, warm and quiet. I would give this stay an 11 out of 10. Thank you for being our host. Mike and Marisa and friends

Only one night stay at the Pacific Park Motel, however, we had a great experience. Arrived a bit after the office had closed, no difficulty, owner came down promptly at got us settled into our room. Room was extremely clean, appears recently refurbished. This is in a quiet area while still being close into town.

Located just 4 minutes drive from The Octagon and the main shopping and dining areas, set in peaceful garden surrounding, with bell birds and other native birds this is one of Dunedins best kept secrets. Superbly comfortable bedding, kitchenette, balcony, great shower, the rooms provide everything for a wonderful stay. The hospitality of the Owners is also very welcoming and helpful.

Jackson G wrote a review Sept 2019

I’m Jackson from Malaysia. I went to this hotel because had a family trip in New Zealand on 18-30/8/2019. We had 9 adults, 2kids. We stayed in this motel on 25-28/08/2019. At first we checked in, the owner, David already gave us a trouble. He said they are not allow kids in motel and he just being kind to accept us since we booked it. After that, I walked to office there to ask for help on borrow adapter, he started to show unhappy face. Well, I though maybe it’s late and I just kept quiet because I’m disturbing him, at that time is around 8pm local time. The next day, around 7am-730am very early in the morning (we late wake up normally because relax trip), he beaten hardly our room’s door with shouting. Keep saying we are too noisy in the yesterday night, but we are just normal chit chat abit after back from Casino (not loud or high voice because we understand not to disturb other people). Then, we were been threatened saying not to rent for us and ask us to sleep beside the road! D**n! We been told, there was a model who stay beside us, she felt we are very noisy! Since our van drive in, there must be some sounds and chit chat, it’s normal. David said he received an email from the female model complain us this matter. Well, since he said like that, we are walking like a THIEF, and being silent for the second night. It is nothing happened for the second night. The last night we stayed, before we went out, we realised the door has been locked! (He opened the door for us earlier, said it’s easier for us and now changed). That moment the local time is around 8pm. So I walked to the office and gave him a call ask to open up the door for us since he locked. When I call him through the phone, again he shout in the phone, and try to limit us not to go out at night! Keep asking, “Yours go out, what about the children? You can’t leave the children at room!” Omg, a common sense that, do you think we will leave our two kids with age4 and age5 at room? When he came out to open up the door for us, still he mad at me, like barking me and non stop warning me and my family, “Again if you make noise, I will kick you out from this place! Your sleep beside the road!” The picture was show his face is super unhappy. I managed to took some of his picture. I STRONGLY not recommend this motel, when we read the term and condition, yes they are welcome children, but when you check in, they said can’t! Like you begging him only he okay to accept. Also it showed we can cook in motel, but also we been warn not to cook in the motel. People/neighbors beside us, their children can run here and play outside the room, he is fine, totally bad treated from him. I’m really really curious, is he racist just because we are an Asian? Why want to cheat us since there is a lot of things not match when booking and be there? I have tried to leave my comment in Booking.com, but they are not allow me to do so. I don’t know what happened, is it really the booking is not using my personal account and it is my friend’s account? If you are looking for a model, I will not recommend you to stay this model! If you wish to be threaten like us, please go ahead. Thank you.

Response from pacificparkmotel, Manager at Pacific Park Motel & Conference Centre
Responded 22 Sept 2019
Thank you for your email. We have investigated your comments and it appears that because of late check in , others guests complained about the level of noise from the room you were occupying between the hours of 12 midnight and 2.00am. These concerns were raised with guest and asked to be mindful for the rest of stay that it is shared accommodation. Children very welcome at our property however the are included in number of guest regardless if free , your children were not declared on booking advice so contravened our terms and conditions ( fire regulations limit number of people per room ) We take objection to being labelled racist , we have many international guests ( many from asia ) and all guest treated with same respect regardless of country of origin , the use of cooking facilities do have terms and conditions attached, ( this is for the well being of all guests in house and arriving in the future Photo of person is of gates being locked at night for security purposes and this occurs every night for the security of property and guests
